Diary of a Rogue Halfling *signed* Rose Overhill

*Rose is seated in the Wild Surge. She scampers up to one of the chairs and leans over to look at the menu. She struggles to seat herself properly on the chair and then yells out to Doria* "Doesn't your inn cater for halflings?! Give me something I can sit on....*she pauses for a second* Please." *Once Rose gets a chair she can sit on easily, she nimbly pops on it and opens her pack and pulls out a leather book. She quickly orders a meal from Yard, and while she waits for her meal she opens the book nimbly and begins to write.*

Well I am finally here. Mistone, Hlint. The trip on the boat was uneventful, I almost threw up a couple of times. Thankfully I managed to contain myself. It took some time for me to get to Leilon. Seas were rough. Leilon is a wonderful place. Teeming with people, and shops aplenty, there is no short supply of opportunity. *she snickers* Foscar would have found this to be a gold mine. Perfect for the Living Horsemen. *she pauses in nostolgia and at one stage it seemed that a single tear drops from her face but she quickly rubs her eyes and continues to write* Anyway...I made my way to Hlint. The place where all adventures seem to stem from, so the rumours go. I heard that there was a lot of coin there.

There was a few things that I needed to do. Some cosmetic things. A cloak, and purchase of some weapons. I managed to keep my dagger and short sword. My two preferred weapons for melee combat. I went to see that ranged weapon dealer, I forgot his name. I chose to standardise on the crossbow. I think eventually one day, I want to make one of those. So there I was in Hlint. Wandering around wanting to know where everything was I came across the Quartermaster. The Quartermaster wanted 5 ears from a local goblin encampment in the outskirts of Hlint.

So while I was looking around I saw this man covered in head to toe....in armour. His name Shamino. He looked like an idiot. How is he expected to walk and run? So I coined him Mister. Metal Man. A fitting name if you ask me. I asked him where he was going, and he was going nowhere in particular, so I asked him whether he would be able to help me in obtaining th earss which I thought would be a simple task. That would not be the case.

Before I get into that, I would like to describe some of the other people that I met there. Shortly after a elf by the name of
Vihktor Raylin came parading himself into Hlint roadside. He is not those common elves, instead of having the usual long hair tied into braids they usually, no.  this young elf had a spike for his haircut would you believe it. He had been affectionately known as the Rat because of the hair style.  I gave him the affectionate name of Ratman. I thought it was very fitting..Hmmph.

There were two more characters that I met up with. Nobelion and Januk. Nobelion is one of those fighters that is like one of those gentle quiet types. Apparently he served in Velensk as a Guardsman, serving Rolferein. Very apologetic man, but  effective in battle.  I think he got us out of a few sticky situations.

Januk, there is another one of those annoying types. Such a fool. I had a vice against smoking pipe so I told him in my own way that I don't appreciate it. Back home, the guys would have told me to "Pike off!" but what did this guy do? Kindly obliged and took off next to the wall, and a puff there. Charming!

So these are the characters that I met up with. Getting back to the adventure. When I had asked Shamino to accompanied us, where did he take us? Out of all places, the Red Goblin Caves. Out of all places he had to take us there! Oh well, goblin caves and goblin ears, they are might as well the same. And I can't complain, he did save my life and Ronus did give me  a wonderful pair of boots with excellent reward in gold. Can't complain.

We also visited the Crypts in Hlint, my its a scary place. With skeletons and ghouls, it was a nasty sight indeed. I have to say that despite my grumbling with being dragged along, I could see that there were items that people needed in the crypts. Erag, the Undertaker needed to have some essence. Ah well.

*At this point Doria comes to her table with some piping food. She expresses her thanks and puts the book away and eats her  meal*

*Rose is seated outside near the lake in Hlint where all the fishes are. She looked at the soot in the sky and snorts a little, she scratchs her nose and begins to open the leather book she wrote in previously and begins to write in it*

Well its been, what a  month since I last wrote in the journal. Things have been interesting none to say the least since I have been in Hlint and more or less Mistone. A few people that I met today seem interesting enough. Some irk me to the core while others lets just say are charming.  There were two  of my folk that I met this day.  One that they call: Finnigan Dragle and the other  *she snorts impetously*  one name Ulliam  Seekpeace. Finnigan  is quite  a charming  young fellow  and  he  introduced himself . I got the full treatment so they say.  a  "bow" and the title "Madam".

And then there is Ulliam. Ulliam Seekpeace. What I thought to be an brave halfling, I suddenly changed my mind after seeing his mannerisms. His whiney attitude and goody goody attitude made me laugh. Acting all tough and macho while in the Red Light Caves where the goblins reside he turned into a undeserving whelp. I don't waste my ink writing anymore on him.

After adventuring with Finn for a short while, I must say that I have grown to be comfortable around him. I have started to do a bit of crafting. I have taken up sewing and tailoring so I wonder what will become of it. I am in the process of making a cloak and the craft recipe cards from the merchant store certainly help.

*At this point she closes her book and nods off to sleep.

*Rose seats herself on the balcony in Hlint overlooking the city centre. The sun is shining and while she fingers her necklace that has a clover to it, she closes her eyes to feel the wind that breathes over her. She opens her eyes and pulls oout of her bag the familiar book that she writes her tales in. She flicks through the pages smirking at different points of interest in her book, she then pulls out a quill and starts writing*

Made a lot of new friends. The first that comes to mind is Brielle. She dresses in red from what I have seen of her, and is very cheerful. She saved me from certain death and for that I am grateful. What a surprise! That is she is a tailoress!  So I am hoping that she will  teach something about tailoring.  She certainly has flair for fashion and I hope to see  her  more often.  She should start  providing tailoring services for those  people that want  garments from the simple to the very  complicated...(by my standards anyway) . I asked her if  she would teach me how to make the cloaks and the sort with  the cougar pelts. I would like to hunt the panther  pelts. I hear that they are  good for rogues.

On my trip to Fort Valensk, with a pair of dwarves and an old lady, I saw some cougars, leopards. A lot of animals. I am going to ask Brielle if she would like to go there and see what we can gather! Its going to be so much fun...I hope that she accept my invitation.

My tailoring is progressing nicely.  I made a red  dress.  It has  lacing to it and  when I showed it to  Brielle, she  liked it.  She said that it looked beautiful and it would make heads turn. It's true too, because when I hear wore the dress in town, one halfling man could not keep his eyes off me! The nerve of some men, all they can do when they see a beautiful lady is just to stare. When I told the hale halfling to kindly go away *Rose giggles a little at this point and continues to write  he stared starled at my outburst and turned his heel like a little pup.  What a fool. Brielle  and I started laughing shortly after. Thats the problem with men. When it comes to beautiful women, many men cannot think straight.

Talking about men, I met up with Finn again. Charming as ever that one. I think he is becoming smarter. Smarter than Ulliam.  I sent a falcon to deliver message that we should catch up. So I met him in the city centre. He had my share of the treasure those many moons ago. I felt a bit bothered that it was only 33 trues but I can't complain because he and some of his companions ventured into the crypts again where we had more success in terms of loot.

Another male halfling that tickles my fancy is one by the name of Brandin Fleetfoot.  He is a daring and my kind of charming too. With a quick wit and impervious to my mannerisms I am impressed. Looks like he may have street smarts, and with an accent to boot.  Well I have to see if I can meet up with the fellow again.

*The wind becomes stronger, so much so Rose has to close her book, put it in her pack and makes her way to the Surge*

*Rose currently wears her red dress and is seated near a tower near Krandor resting. She looks at the falling leaves from the trees and sighs. "What a wonderful day but no one to spend it with" *she speaks in Halfling* Suddenly she seems to have an idea and she hurriedly reaches into her bag and pulls out her leather journal, and hurriedly writes using a quill. Her eyes seem to be intense as if she wants to get something down into writing*

Well, it has been quite a time then. The last month has had a turn of events. I haven't seen much of Vikh or Nobelion or, or the Metal man Shamino. Instead I have two new acquaintances. Both which arespellcasters. With their hocus pocus magics, I have to say that they do come in handy. One which I know as Alandric. He *she thinks about for a second* sounds quite cynical about everything. His lackey it would seem is a fighter. Quiet by nature, but vicious when he wants to be, Revone is a fighter that you would want at your side. As I said before, can't really comment much on their attitude. Always talking in rhymes and riddles.

There was one other one which he named himself as Axeman. With pure brute force, and his intimidating manner he was someone that you want on your side if things got ugly.

I met up with a Dwarf by the name of Hilda and Gard Lockjaw. Hilda is a gruff female dwarf but is battle hardy. Gard for some unknown reason is quiet until I realised that he had no tongue! There was no way that he could talk at all. I had met up with Hilda in the middle of Hlint Eastside. After the normal introductions, the mute dwarf came back from the gates and tried to motion us to the other side Hlint. Both Hilda and I had *no* clue whatsoever what he was trying to tell us.

He stopped, and we had a brief communicative discussion. After I commented that he might have some speech impediment and that he might want to seek a healer he stormed off to West Hlint. *she shrugs and continues to write* I don't know why it is people take a simple suggestion as an attack on them. Oh well. Shortly after he left, those two goons that I talked about earlier came. After the proper introductions, Alandric mentioned that he wanted to pay a visit to the Grey Peak mountains. As if I was to know where that was. *she rolls her eyes at this point and continues writing*

Anyway off we went to Grey Peaks Mountains. Further in the mountains, we encountered skeletons and other things that looked very evil and malignant. It was something that I was not fond of. But we quickly disposed of them but what I found to be most discerning is that he called them "children". I *have* no idea where he is getting these terminology from.

For the most part, the Grey Peak Mountains is nothing more than a place filled with ogres and giantfolk. Most of them are brutes and there is the odd spellcaster, but with our newfound companions, we overcame them. It is by good fortune that I manage to acquire some winter wolf skin pelts and using my wily ways I was able to get Revonne to carry them for me until we had gotten out of the Grey Peaks. While we were there, we managed to find some oil, something that was needed Juanita in Fort LLast.

Acquiring Cougar Armour and Cape of Panther
I do recall the time when I was with Finn, and a lady called Ferrit came by selling her wares. Finn had wanted to buy some cougar armour, which I wanted to purchase also. Cougar Armour defintely helps with my dodging ability and getting myself out of trouble. Being a halfling and having a  very small stature, it becomes easier to dodge attacks from enemies. Its also very effective when the fighters are attacking head on and I can merge into the battle and stab them, and jump in and out of the battle.

I also found that Ferrit was also selling the Cape of Panther....which is a perfect cloak for those people that want to hide and move silently. Because I have improved my technique of hiding and moving I can now hide in the shadows and move a lot more quietly than what would normally be the case.

I was lucky that I had got those Winter Wolf pelts, as I was able to scuffle a deal together to get the Cougar Armour in exchange for the 4 Winter Wolf pelts and only had to pay 500 trues for the Cape of the Panther.

Speaking of which, after having acquired the armour, I was at the public crafting hall, where I saw Ozymandias Llewellyn, affectionately known as Ozy. I have met with Ozy several times within Hlint Centre. He is a man that is covered head to toe in black colouring clothes. He coughs blood on the odd occassion, and he is has most charming witty subtle responses.

He took interest of what I was doing, and suggested a few things to my tunic. I had first decided that  I would wear total black to suit the cloak colours and when at night time I blend totally into the shadows. I have my dress to wear when I am in town and when I am out adventuring I will wear this the cougar armour and cloak outfit. Ozy gave me some tips on how to sneak, how to target and kill efficiently. They have all been useful tips  and one which I will most certainly use in combat. *her lips curl in to a smile and she continues writing*

Ozy is also a well learned person. He has his own form of humor and he is good at trying to get things across...sometimes he will sneak in a comment in his own conversation that pertains to you when you are in ear shot.

*At this point Rose closes the book and makes her way through the forest, and gets back to Hlint*

*Rose is seated in docks near Fort Valensk. Her small agile feet hang over the ledge of the docks. She feels the breeze against her face, as well as hearing the ship's captain ding of the bell. A look of a thought crosses her face as she looks towards the sea. She pulls up her backpack and sighs a little, and pulls out her journal. She dabs her quill in a pot of ink and begins to write in her journal*

There has been a lot that has been happening since I last wrote in this journal. I have met up with a strange middle aged elderly chap. I met up with him while I was talking to Brandin. Bless his soul. Brandin seems to have taken my interest to heart. He is always looking out for me the times that I meet up with him. Anyway back to this weird strange man....Brandin said that he had found an employer that would be paying us good coin to get some tasks for him done.

These were just odd jobs around town, such as going to the crypts to get some essence and other things such as getting a book from the ratman. Apparently the ratman lives in the sewers. So the three of us went down there and made a clear path for the man to get what he wanted. Both Brandin and I expected to get paid. And the guy promised us that. When we had got out, the man returned the book to the accountant. To my horror when he came back, he only paid us a measly 100 trues! I told him I expected both of us to be paid 150 each!, but he wouldn't budge.

His mannerisms are very weird. For example, he often says things that relate to death. I think he is a delirious man filled with a strange set of desires. But we get paid, even though at this stage, it seems to be a meagre amount and that is all that matters to me at the moment. At a later date, Brandin and I met him again, but this time he came with company.  I met with Alandric and Revonne again. These two spellcasters seem to know each other. The other spellcaster, I would later learn the old man is called Sipher.

They had planned to visit the Dragon Isles, for whatever reason, I do not know. But the missive was to "TAKE everything, and KILL anything"  *Rose shakes her head*. The Living Horsemen were never like this. Sure they would loot, but not take lives so easily. But both Brandin and I are in thir employ, and I would imagine as long as they pay us what we are owed, we will continue doing what we are asked. The moment it end up unprofitable, we ARE out off there.

I have to say that they are ruthless in battle. Whatever Sipher casted, caused our foes to be weakened. And Alandric, his magiks  are very different what I have seen others use. They are very effective. We made our way down into the cave, and at the entrance when we had destroyed the vile minotaurs, and people had started to mine for different minerals, the minotaurs ambushed us again! *she grimaces at this point*

How could they not see it? How could  I not see it? That whole trip was a disaster!

*with that Rose slams shut the journal with a look of frustration and rage on her face only to reopen it again putting quill to paper*

Needless to say, we all returned at a later date and Alandric and Sipher led the charge of their demise. We had the good fortune of enlisting several others namely two woman, the Lady in Red ((Christine)) and the Lady of Blue ((Muireann)). I have to say that exacting revenge felt like a very good feeling.

I shall like to write on that at a later date. For now I would like to bank in the trues that have been so well deserved.

*Rose smile broadens into a slight crooked smile, as she closes the journal, packing everything away*

*Rose is curled up at the Wild Surge Inn. She sits in the bed with a quill in her hand writing casually*

Has it been that long since I have written? I look and I would have sworn that it was almost two years now since I have written anything interesting. So many things have happened since then. I have made a lot of acquiantances. Some that spring to mind are Lillian Dartford. A halfling that looks similar to me. She is very mighty and strong. I have a lot to owe her. She is given me a lot of help...I don't know how I am going to repay her.

I wanted to document a recent trip of mine to the Balgeran's Mountains. I have to say this has to be the most scariest place that I have been too.  Especially when there are giants lurking around. It was very disconcerting. It was my fault...wandering around like that and then then getting lost from my friends that had gone there.

They must have gone out safely but as for me, I guess that was not the case. I am lucky that Hilda had the good sense to find me when I had written to her a while ago that I was planning to go. Her might axe and blade helped me to get to safety.

I feel a little humbled by all this gestures. The feeling is moving to say the least.
I have some things that I shall write on some of the adventures that I have been on.

*With that, Rose, goes off to sleep*
