Eschew feat
« on: November 13, 2006, 12:40:35 PM »
I have heard quite a few things about this feat. I would like to clarify a few things about it. So from my understanding, after my sorcerer can cast 3rd level spells it means that he is eligible for this feat. Thereafter, he gets to have the choice of another eschew feat etc every 3 or is 4 levals? So the first Eschew is at 4, then at 8 lvl, then at 12 lvl, 16lvl etc?

What happens if he doesn't choose this feat when it is first madely available...does that mean that he doesn't get that option to choose Eschew at 8 lvl or any other consecutive level? My sorcerer did not the Eschew option at the beginning, so I would like him to choose it at lvl 12. Currently he is level 11.

Thank you.

That's not completely correct...

Please read the lore pages:

http://nwn.layonara.com/Eschew%20Materials%20I
http://nwn.layonara.com/Eschew%20Materials%20II
http://nwn.layonara.com/Eschew%20Materials%20III

Basicly... You need to have eschew I to get eschew II, and eschew II to get eschew III. You can select the feats when you are able to cast the highest level spell that's "eschewable" by that feat (i.e. to be able to select eschew II, you have to be able to cast level 6 spells). Of course, you don't have to select the feats directly at that level (i.e. a level 40 character without having picked any eschew before would be able to pick Eschew I).

Your sorcerer should be elligible for Eschew I at level 6, which is the first level he'll be able to cast 3rd level spells. At 12th he should be elligible for Eschew II and at 18th, he should be elligible for Eschew III.
If you do not take the feat when first elligible, it does not matter. The next time a feat may be taken, Eschew will still be available to choose.
The above statement assumes your sorcerer remains pure-classed. Feats can be chosen every 3 levels. Sorcerers do not get any bonus feats at any level interval. If you do multiclass with this character, it will delay the character level at which Eschew will become available, and further it will only be available when you level in a spell-casting class.
  I hope that clarifies things.
