After the clan went to war against the army invading Dregar and  valiant fought it to the end, I decided to walk away from my home mountains, after making sure the young ones will be safe and taught in the way Vorax.

My path led me out of Dregar, towards Mistone and the temple of Vorax in the Berhagen Mountains. I stayed there for a few days, praying to Vorax and gathering my thoughts.

I know I couldn't have done much at the time to help the clan and if I had been with them, the whole clan would have been destroy. It was a battle, one of the last in the great war against Blood I heard. But it was the first one in the war against the invader of Dregar. But this war will probably not be fought as I used to think war are to be fought. For now, it is at a stillstand. The Invader fortifying his grip on the land, while resistance begins to rally.

But sooner or later, new battles will need to be fought against injustice and evil and I will land my axe to that cause. I'll pray Vorax to give me strength in these.

But for now, I'll need to strengthen my body and mind. I followed a group of adventurer back to a small but bustling town called Hlint. There I helped out a few locals.

I also met another group of adventurers, most of them followers of Toran. Liz and Nicolas, Lif'lo and Gideon. I helped them out and they helped me in return in a few tasks I had to do, then we went on adventuring around Mistone. I think I'll meet them again.

I've been in Hlint and Mistone for some time now. I met a lot of other bearded one and had many an adventure with them. I like to travel in the company of kinsman. I met one particular one, going by the name of Wanark. He is of a Silveraxe clan too, from Ulgrid in the Berhagen. I wonder if he is from a remote branch of my own family and clan. I travelled a lot with him and others. We went back to Ulgrid to pray at the temple and offers donations. We also went deep into Haven's mine and far up into the Grey Peaks.

Vorax faith runs strong in many a dwarf around Hlint, and especially with Wanark. He is an example for us all. I also met true Hero of the dwarven kin, Kobal and Varka.

I'm part of the effort to help Bloody Gate. As I'm not a smith, I help in the gathering of ore rather than in the making of armor. Still, it feels good to be of use to a greater good. I hope our effort will be crowned by success, but the way will be long, hard and probably most dangerous. But now that I'm engaged in it I won't turn back. Vorax will guide us and we will succeed.

I long to return to my home in the mountains, but the time is not yet come.

**letter to Adrax Silveraxe (eldest of the young dwarf left in the care of a clan on dregar**

'annur,

It has been some time since I heard news from you or you from me. I'm well and I hope you are too. I met with a dwarf, a Silveraxe from Ulgrid. We think me might be related in some way but aren't sure yet. If this is the case, I'll come and lead you to Ulgrid. I'm sure you are well taught in the way of Vorax, but I'd still prefer if you were with related kin. When you'll all be strong and wise in the way of Vorax and when I earn to right to lead you, we will return to our home in Storm Horn and we'll be strong again.

Till then, I wish you all well, and I hope I'll be able to visit soon.

Grohin Silveraxe, Battlepriest of Vorax

Today I answer the call of General Deepsnur of the 1st division. He appointed Hargranar Craggenhilt as Captain and confirm Berdin in the same position. I was officialy appointed as Battlepriest, under the command of Captain Hargranar. It was a great honor to meet with the General, but he had something important to task us with, so we didn't have the time to celebrate. We went into the deep north, into a witch's lair to retrieve some documents. We fought valiantly through the caves against goblins, kenkus, giants and other creatures and finally retrieved the document.

In Raven's Watch, we met another group (no dwarves though) that was going in the same direction, looking for a lost captain of Raven's Watch and apparently a pair of boots. They helped us in our task so we helped them in their, and after a long and arduous exploration of the caves we eventually stumble upon the captain (who unfortunately was already dead and past our help) and found his boots in a chest. I carried the captain's body back to Raven's Watch and we, dwarves, left the others to their business and went to report to General Deepsnur.

Well, I need to write here of something quite strange that happen to me lately.

I was talking with some people near those benches in Hlint when suddenly it went cold and some of us begans to shivers and looks anxiously around. Then I heard children in my head and so too other people. I thought it was hunger, so I went with Kobal and Varka to the inn to have dinner and a good beer, but others began to investigate. After a good meal and a story by Varka, we went out to see what the others where doing and we found one of them stricken and lying on the ground saying strange things. Well to make things short it seems the tree and benches have been magicked in some way as to be used to spy and attack us. We chased what we thought was a demon around Hlint and to the North as far as the High Forest where we talked with Legodias, druid of the place. Then we continue our chase as some of us 'listen' to the trees or tried to find the source of the magic. We finally discovered that it was somewhere far to the south, near Velensk.

There, Muireann pinpointed the magic to a house. I knocked on the door and I must say that with some shame, I invented a strange story about treasure hunt and such. Well it didn't granted us access to the house, but at least it forced the others to act. Well the house was inhabited by an old lady, a halfling and several children. Well not really childre though. Some of us with the ability to see through illusions saw they were looking like demons.

Some disagreement occurs between us as to what to do with them. I and Lin'da where thinking that we needed to get rid of them or at least know what they were doing there. Others like Elladan and Storold tried to tell us they weren't demon, but good natured Outsiders ( whatever that meant). As a fight broke out between two of us, we were expelled from the house by the guards. Elladan stayed behind and talked to the old lady.

As he went out, he explained to us the so-called demons were good in nature and that only some of them kinda turned bad and did the attack on us. They were held in some kind of pocket plane (whatever that really means) and that a ritual needed to be done to seal the plane.

We went back in and the magicker along with Elladan and Muirean, helped by Tarile (the old lady) and the Halfling begans to do the rituals, two of those things got out but couldn't cross the pentagram on the ground, one was sucked back in and the other begans to die there. As it did so, Tarile failed to continue on the ritual, but the others held fast (though for some, it was only barely) and they finished the rituals and closed the bridge to the plane. Tarile fell to the ground and seemed quite sick, so I took her to her bed, gave her some tea and toast and let her to rest. She was just exhausted.

11 of those outsider still lives with the old lady and her halfling-servant. Storold said he would watch over them all and keep an eye out to prevent further 'turning'. I might as well go back and talk to the lady ... and perhaps have another taste at her beer.

After that, I took the liberty to make me a sandwich in the kitchen and took some beer to drink - Vorax be praised, it was dwarven ale of the best kind. This old lady couldn't have been an evil one, no no no.

Today I went with Wanark and Thrain to Dregar, as we were resting in an Inn, a cat took a liking to Thrain and it follows us into the giant cave where it shows some vicious teeth and claw. Well it wasn't a cat after all, but on of those shape-changing druids, he help us well as he used the bear and other form he could take.

Later we were rejoined by Fenrir and I managed to get some coal and gems to work with.

Later we went through the desert and to someplace called the iron hills where we mined some gold.

I'm getting good at making jewelry and cutting gem. I managed to make some crystal rods too and enchant them. Thus making enhancment for weapon or protective enchantment against cold, fire and lightning.

I now have a project for which I need some stuff I cannot make myself. Fortunately, Tegan an half-elf tailor I met agreed to help me make part of what I need. She made me two suit of platinum reinforced clothing. Now I need some charming essence which Erk said he could make, but I haven't seen him since.I'll also need more experience in enchanting, and I will try to make that thing. I will ask Gilshem to pray Dorand for me.

All done, I have made that Tunic on my second try.

Lot of things happening lately in the dwarven community.... mostly related to Bloody Gate.
I keep learning new things in my crafts and my skill in combat grew everyday through training.

I took part in a most extraordinary travel a few weeks ago... We met a man named Kenson near Saudiria... he sent us to look for Gard the Guard captain in North Fort. He in turn took us into the silver mine near by to test us... after that he asked a few question to each of us and took Gilshem away for a while, when they returned Gil was looking somewhat different.... a few days later we returned to Saudiria and met with Kenson again. He then sent us to look for a lost Giant tribes or something, he said they were really the ancestors of today's giant. On the way, we passed through a desert filled with quicksands and snakes... but we also stumbled on a very interesting thing.... not far from the path, my eyes took the glimpse of metal in the sand... after looking better we noticed it was an' axe of what looked like adamantium. Unable to reach it myself due to the quicksand , though I tried but had to be pulled out from them.... With try to catch it with a lasso but didn't succeeded, finally it is with the help of a cute little faerie that we managed to bring the axe back to the path...
Later on this same trip, we eventually came upon the giants.... Those were real Giants, much higher than the ones you see today around Mistone and Dregar... They challenged us for we had tresspassed on their ground. I step before to answer the challenge and after a time, I walk forward to meet my fate...

Well it didn't went as well as we planned... something happened as I cut the giant chiefs in the ankle (the only part of him I could hit with high jumps and acrobatics)... but I cannot related the rest of the adventure in this journal since I promised Gilshem to never revealed what happened.

I travelled with Tegan and the Loon's brothers lately... they aren't beards but I think I can still call them friend. I trust Tegan to cast a few spell on me for my own protection... all of them I know of myself, but hers are much better. Together we went to the famous mountains of Firesteep to mine adamantium... We even dared to walk into the lair of a dragon... well The Dragon I should say... my friend said his name was Fisterion and I heard he his the son of the god Pyrtechion or at least very close to that.

I wasn't able to see him myself, sadly, but I had a glimpse of his power as a powerful spell exploded not far from me and threw me to the ground, injuring me somewhat... after that, against my better judgement, I must admit I ran.... well... away really but I know when a foe is too powerfull, even for me... *there Grohin burst into a laugh, unable to write for a time*, well it was a grand experience, and I hope I will be able, one day, to challenge that dragon.

We also went into the rift to mine some diamonds... a very profitable trip even if I died there trying to heal Voon, but I received 5 diamonds after the trip.

I travelled to some other places in Dregar and even for a bit through Roldem, from a place called Silden to a city called Rodez. In that place, I met Jennara who told us of the war that took place on those islands and which destroyed most of it. A very sad tale but also full of hope, for if we stay united and work together we ca overthrow even the strongest foe.

Druegars... bloody darkies. They had hijacked several shipment bound for Shoufal and Ulgrid. Beli, me and Kurgin set out to find the source of the attacks. And we stumbled on those darkies. Tough buggers too, we got captured and held prisoner for a time in what looked like a mining operation. Several other miners from Shoufal were held prisoners too.

At first we couldn't break free.. blood lock was made of mithril. But Beli, gathering his strength and will managed to call for the help of Vorax and several heroes came to our help.. breaking the locks and helping us to dispatch the Duergars guards.

Beli is now a full brother of battle and gained much experience from this 'adventure'... so do I.

Bloody Gate... I can finally write about this in this journal... under the guidance of Varka and Kobal we helped in the rebuilding of Bloody Gate and it is now as it once was. The rightfull King again sitting at the head of the table in Bloody Gate's Hall. I'm proud to have been part of this effort and will continue to help Varka and others dwarves as best I can, whenever and whereever they need me.

Though I still think about my own halls in The Mountains of Storms. They too will need some work though they weren't destroyed... but all theses years without care must not have help my halls.

Varka's gift - Bloody Gate
« Reply #8 on: March 14, 2007, 03:21:58 PM »
*writings is a little shaky*

Varka, Warlord of the united Clans asked us to gather once more in the Wild Surge in Hlint. What we thought to be another dwarven party turned out to be something else....

Some time ago we helped him rebuild Bloody Gate, for which King Rory thanked us... then a few weeks ago I helped Gilshem and Durgen, along with Varka, to reach the citadel of Dorand in Lyn. There Varka told us of the battle that He, the High Hammer of Dorand, Hargranar and others fought there against a horde of Orcs, lead by a powerful one, thought to be the Orc's god avatar.... Varka told us of the weapon that was forged to kill the avatar, though it was not needed in the end... Blacklung, the Baron of Lyn thanked Varka and gave him a pick, one of Dorand's.

Today, as we gathered in the Surge, holding mugs of ale, Varka turned suddenly serious and holds out several items... one of them, Dorand's pick, he gave to Gilshem, another one, a powerful Halberd that was used against elementals in a war long ago, he gave to Kurgaz. A club, I saw him use once, to bash giants he gave to Fenrir.

To me he gave the spear that was forged by Hargranar. A powerful weapon whose sole purpose is to destroy Orc's blood. I was quite honored of this gift, I hope I'll be up to this honor.

Praised be Vorax, might I show his strength in battle.

A few days ago, I heard about some trouble in my home mountains. I couldn't stand idle while maybe some of my kin were in trouble. So I set up for Highpass to learn what was going on... Well it wasn't my kin really but two lads from the fort went missing. The captain of the guards (a good sturdy dwarf) told us about this and about the strange noises the people hear at night for several weeks now. We investigated a bit about the lads and then set out to ask the Stonesmashers. It has been a long time since I set foot in their stronghold and I don't think they remember me (anyway I was but a lad last time, and it was me father who did the talking). I had to vouch for my companions as I was the only dwarf in the party. Luckly some of them stayed back at the fort to recover from a nasty magic stuff they did (alright not nasty, but magic anyway).
The elder told us about an attack that happened just the night before, a big wolf leapt over the walls and killed four beards before they managed to kill it... according to Jac, this was no normal thing for a wolf to do, but as we examined the bones (the dwarves burnt the wolf) it appears it was just that... a very big wolf.

So we got back to the Fort... The tree hugger in the party decided to go fly over the country to try and spot the kids but he met some giant hand *chuckles*. Strange things happen then as he was brought back to us in a very badly shape... though his wounds have been tended to... he told us of a white panther that wasn't one, but a shifter.

We went to the mountains and were met by this shifter who told us a bit about what was happening... apparently a powerful shifter of some sort is around due to some sort of calling and many other nature-folks (druid and shifter) are drawn to this place too and some fighting results from all that... one of the kids is one of those shifter and that's why he went out into the mountains... his brother (only in name, not blood) followed him. But they got attacked. Some in the party decided to go save them but only managed to rescue the other kid... the shifter-kid stayed back and fought with the 'Boss'... I couldn't say the kid was too happy at being saved and not his brother. I hope it will turn out well and no other trouble will come of it.

Story time in Mariner's hold?
Yes, well the story wasn't the best I heard... some honorful lad got into trouble and had to fight against cheaters who killed him... not much could be learnt from the bard... though another lad came and began teasing us with the promise of another, better story.

He brought us to a broken statue and began asking question about honor, slave and master and things like that and then invited us into his house to tell us his story.... well he does have a strange way to tell story really. More like dreaming it than telling it... we actually were in some sort of dream-like place... though it looks more like a nightmare than a dream... people and others things lay dead... burning some. Then the guy asked us questions about what is honor, if one who lost his honor could regain it and so on... hard questions to answer as Honor is very difficult to define precisely, it's something very personal and not alike from one to another. I don't know if lost honor can be regain or not, but it seem that guy wants to regain his somehow... and we will apparently help him.

I haven't heard about Berdin or Hargranar for a while. I wonder what the Captains are becoming. Perhaps it is time for me to step forward...

I wonder how's Grena faring... I haven't seen her much lately. She be a strange one... something... I don't seem to understand her too well. There is something in her that sometimes makes me shivers... I don't know. And it's not really the way she hacks at giants

My little party at the hostel went rather well... quite a few showed up, including Warlord Varka. And we had a bit of fun with the giants afterwards... though I really need to talk to Grena. Varka asked me to do it too. I must tell her about the laws of the land. Varka told us she almost attacked a drow in Hempstead (now I cannot really blame her for it, but then there are laws to be respected... ) and something about the Ninny Drows Goddes Temple in Audira.

Bad news, I've received a letter from Jin telling me Erk fell to Fisterion claws... I'll hold a service to his memory in a few days at the temple of Vorax in Ulgrid... I think Erk deserved that... strange as he was, he had a good heart and was a true friend.

I'm sure he has a good time drinking ale and eating roasts in the halls of Vorax. But I'll miss him for sure.

Well, a new name has been added on my list now...

- Broegar
- Fisterion

Lately, I started collected dwarven lore and stories, and will begin to write them down and add them in my library, available for all kin that wish to learn of our kin's lore and history. My first scroll is the one I wrote in memory of Erk http://www.layonara.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=110779.
But I hope more will be added; History, tales, epic deeds, life and death of fallen heroes, etc...

Zoralje, that magicker who lost his honor isn't the nice guy we thought at first... or so it seem. He made us go into some dungeon to investigate rumors... Oh, the reason he lost his honor... he went with another lass than the one he loved... and blah blah... left his promise. Now he wants to find her again to make amend... don't think it will work, but well trying might bring the lad some honor back. Anyway... we went into this dungeon... full of ants, though none attacked us... and we found the queen, a red egg and the body of an adventurer with a sword... Rain picked the sword and began trying to destroy the egg with it... we managed to stop him, but I picked the sword up and fell unto the spell myself... Barion managed to restrain me and then Zoralje appear... somewhat angry... Then he escaped laughing telling us to go look for Cathrine (his maid or servant) for she was dying... so he says. So we went back to town... bashed into his house (tho' Barion managed to get a key... he was quite upset) and we found Cathrine lying on a bed, with a trail of blood leading to it from some kind of altar. Storold discovered that the lass had been poisoned by something called Black Lotus so me, Barion and Kobal ran to the nearest Druid and got a cure. Cathrine is saved now and we'll meet her again for she said Zoralje went to look for another clue (or item or whatever) in a desert in Dregar and that we might find him there (and maybe also a clue as to why he acted like this and maybe even where Mervion is (she's his promise of old)... we didn't have the sword anymore (Barion destroyed it, but the hilt is still down there, by the pool)

Well, Cathrine is fine again. She gave us a few clues as to where find Zoraje again... and we did. We found some kind of enchanting altar and Zoraje was still telling about finding the truth... whatever it is.

I went to a party at The Stormcrest Shack... and the "owner" gave me an axe as a gift... a pretty good one too... so I decided to use this new one and I set up me old one, the one I found in the desert, on Vorax's altar in me home.
