I just saw this (it's a Sub I've been watching for a while), and got the thought, "WOW. FREAKING ROCK ON."

So use this thread to post any major lauding of whomever you wish.

At the moment, the spotlight's on Ice and Pan. Wowee.

I have to say that, of all things, that really highlights the spirit of this community.

Now I just wish I could read Portuguese; that looks like a great bio! :)

My thoughts exactly...Its one thing to be exact and accurate. Making sure that everything tallies up. Its yet another to be flexible enough to offer to approve it in their native tongue. As Steve said, this shows the spirit of the admin team.

*claps*

wow

edit: heres a translator for those of us that are dis-inclined to beable to speak other languages:
http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en

and, I woulda copy-and-pasted the translation... but its a bit big, so.. figure it out yerself! oh, and since its not a good translatior, read the sentence, then re-read it to interpret what it ACTUALLY says.  its, kinda sticky in parts via english, but its a fun translator.

I'd like to stress that, while what Ice and Pan did was GREAT (gr8 leik woah, even), this thread is for ANYBODY to nominate ANYONE for acclaim and mucho-kudos. Who else is deserving of praise? Come on, I know bunches of you are. :)

When I first arrived here, I had been sitting just outside east Hlint after first learning about making a campfire using flint and tinder. For some silly reason that little moment of plausible immersion had hooked me but that's not what really got Layonara under my skin. Having been a DM for countless sessions over the course of more than a 10 year period; I've developed a certain taste for the entertainment aspect to any form of drama and in particular the simple things are what "do it" for me the most. Let me illustrate...

It's coming on evening and my still level 1 moon elf is shivering just outside east Hlint rummaging through his newly acquired posessions. Finding the flint and tinder, with some experimentation; a fire is lit. A little more fumbling around with some raw meat and the nice campfire resulted in a fine meal after what seemed a long day in such a huge new land. Down the roadway he noticed an older looking human making his way towards Hlint. The elf mage; not knowing if this male commoner was friend or foe, only sat there relaxing by the fire allowing the human to make a move or would he just simply walk on by.

(dialog isn't accurate, strictly form memory)
"Hello there, looks like you've got a nice fire going there."
"Yes sir, it's actually rather pleasant to just relax out here under the stars with the warm fire. Would you care to join me?"
"Nah, I'm alright. Just making my way to Hlint. There seems to be some sort of rucous going on in the Hlint sewers and though I myself don't have the time to be able to help much, I came to offer my services to the Tax Lady as I hear there's some sort of reward involved."
...

That's it. I was hooked. Game over. I found home. Thunder Pants (no longer a DM nor does he even play here anymore but we see him poking around the forums from time to time) proceeded to entertain the night away with a wonderful trek through some of the starting quests but for me that DM attention was pure gravy.

Layonara lives and breathes because of *every* *single* *person* *involved*.

From the smallest hickup when you think no one's watching to the most grandest of grand plot quests, it doesn't matter. Each and every experience can be inspirational in ways you may not even realize.

I'm absolutely certain TP had just been role playing the actors of the static quests and it probably took him no effort to run it all but that first moment when "Commoner, Male" came walking down the road... I knew that a DM was online and was bringing the world to life that little bit more than the static norm. That's all it takes really, just a little immersion can go a long way. No need for epic drama every moment of every session.

At least for me... it's the little things that count.

In tribute to that "Commoner, Male" moment... when I became a DM; I named my avatar "Storyteller, The".

TP, if you're reading this; Thanks man. You rock!

Well if this is a props post, I'm gonna recommend my entire Layo family of the Angel's guild.  Every one of them - Dalan, Kyle, Ferrit, Rain, Sonya, Dora, Omer (Mercas), Jako, Miss Jil, and last but not least Miss Hanna, have helped me be a better role player and appreciate this server.  Even with the different schedules of playtimes, there is almost always another guild member on and when our characters intereract it is more like a family interaction.   I am going to highlight two players in particular here: Ferrit //Serissa and Rain/Hellblazer.  Both are without a doubt, some of the nicest, kindest players I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with.  Both showed me both in/out of character so many things to playing on this server.  Various crafting, fires *as OneST8 explained*, help with information on quests, all manner of food *pats his tummy*.  Now, I interact with a lot of other players on this server and all have their merits and I take nothing away from those other players by posting this, but its been this family that has helped me the most.   I'll finish with a simple thank you.  I wouldn't be here if you weren't.

Alright, I have two.

1) EdtheKet -- For taking all the time to write up so much and put together an amazing handbook and for being patient with all the times I've poked him with questions

and

2) Ice -- For making my very first week as Rhynn memorable. That first bit of "live GM intervention" Got me hooked. Thanks!

My props go to Minerva, for DMing Lucius' first long series of quests, I had so much fun thwarting Mist people and their parrots.

Also to EdTheKet too, the handbook is amazing, helped me so much when I created my sapphireish monk :)

There are several people that I would like to put a heads up to that has made my experience worth it. The major people from  the team are Ice/DMOE/Dezza/Ozy/Rhizome. These are some of the people that have constantly enriched the community..making it a highly interactive world to play in.  Ozy's quirkiness (yes he could lick your ears/face off) and his vast knowledge of Layonara's history makes any interaction with him an enjoyable one.

To Ice and Rhizome. who made my first experience into Layonara an interesting one, and to clarify certain aspects of the game IC.

To DMOE and Dezza. Its a joy playing on Layonara with both of you. Whether it be dramatic or for a pure bash with RP it is always fun. And to Dezza as a DM. I can say that all the tales are true. His style is truly challenging but enjoyable, and the RP is very good. I can still remember my first encounter with Dezza as a DM. I think the encounter was the talk of  Mistone for a long while.

EdtheKet...the handbook has been interesting and where people *should* go for their character submissions and how to RP their characters. To Aragon, Cp_Winddancer, Polak76. I have not met Aragon IG but reading the characters CDT and the others make that bit of Layonara that much more interesting.

And lastly...whoever (plural) was involved in making the modules. The scenery on West, Central, and East. I was blown away by them.

whoever (plural)

The correct pluralization of the word is "whomever" :)

Just thought I'd point that out.

Actually, whom is not the plural form of who.  Who is singular and plural, and is used wherever you could use a pronoun.  Whom is the object form of who, so it follows prepositions and is used as a direct or indirect object.  That carries over into whoever and whomever.

EDIT:  A helpful little rule-like thing: if you can replace a word with "he" or "she," then you should use "who."  If you can replace the word with "him" or "her," then "whom" is appropriate.
