    Question for the GM's
    « on: December 18, 2006, 02:58:55 PM »
The premium Neverwinter module Wyvern Crown of Cormyr has ridable horses. These horses look different than Layo's and there is the ability to have jousting tournaments in this mod....

Is there anyway that this would be possible one day in Layonara?  Just wondering....   Thanks ;)

It's something being looked at I think, but we have horses at the moment, so it's not as urgent as other things.
That said, my understanding of those horses is that they would solve several problems we have had with how our current system works.
      So um...call that a "maybe" :)

thanks for such a quick response Dorg. I was looking at all the screenshots and the video. They look great. However I'm not sure if they have been released publically yet?

If they havent I'm sure an arrangement could be bartered between Leanthar and DLA? (I think are the creators) to 'purchase rights to the mod'.  I would be willing to cover the cost of this if reasonable.

The horses are great yeah (they're tails, cute, that helps!), though the whole thing is a non-user friendly mass of scripts at the moment. And they use the ride skill in their module, with some riding feats etc. One of the DLA members was creating a better solution to rideable whatever-you-haves for easier import, but while it was meant to be the work of a week, nothing's been heard for a couple months, so it seems that it is waiting on the final patch, as are several other projects that are pending to see if the content from the premium module is released by Bioware as expected.

Not on the team, so I have no idea of intentions, but when you have a ton of your own systems and content in place, integration can be a nightmare, so I don't know, probably depends on free time and ease of use (we already have some, after all). I'd hate to hear a no, but I'm not sure how we much we can expect an optimistic response before 1.69, either, which will be a nightmare in itself I'm sure :)

I'd hope for maybe! The jousting though, I doubt it. It's fun, but even if I could see it in Layo, it's not so much a "new mini game, import and play!" but rather a mass of scripts and cutscenes that bends the rules as much as possible. ;)

Edit--Oh whatever Dorg... beat me and with the official maybe! That's what I get for looking for munchies between typing longwinded posts...

Second edit for typo (long wined?) and some incoherent just-woke-up sentence...

Agreed on the jousting. But I've heard so many good things about the horses reference combat etc etc. Anyways time will tell ;)

I'd like a version of horses that didn't lag me every time one comes into my field of view. Dwarves don't joust, so I'm pretty short on rodential glutea on that one.

        I don't think this exists.

The horses are more advanced models than a lot of the NWN1 stuff... and heck, NWN1 lags everytime -anything- comes into your field of view. Like a PC.

Mac users, no matter the proof, you can't convince them they are wrong. :)

I don't get graphics lag unless I run into a horse or theres 15 people with a bunch of SR buffs coming in and out of my f.o.v. on a quest or something. Horses make things just stop for about 1.5 seconds.

Horses are insane... I tend to have to roll a D20 against DC 5 to not crash everytime I see a person riding a horse... Ugggh... :P
