Craftable armors for horses..

How about make it possible to make armors for your horse. I'm not talking about a full plate armor

Perhaps something like this

studded leather armor with small metal plates on.

Bace AC 2-4

Extra AC depending on wich metal and/or what leather is used.. +1-2

Maybe +2 constitution for the horse.. ore some other fitting stats.

It isn't really "you in armor on top of a horse in armor," because there's not really a horse at all. It's just "your-character-made-to-look-like-he's-on-a-horse still wearing the same armor." So your horse does not wear equipment...because he's not really there when you're on him.

They're also not really meant for combat.

The WCoC horses have some fun differences between light ones with packs and say, heavy warhorses with barding (one panics in combat, the other you can fight on), but they still are not really horses, merely your character wearing a tail that looks like a horse. Sooo... it sounds like this would be extremely difficult for not much payout--as they're just for riding, looking pretty and freezing up screens.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be corrected.

LOL.. okey.. Since I have never rided a horse in battle I have no idea how it works.. Hmm.. think i'll buy a horse and test it..

You pretty much just fight like you usually would. I think the only changes are skill reductions, inability to equip heavy shields, and the normal movement increase.

For the moment, I don't believe it's even the tail that's the horse.

The whole "you" are the... umm.... "you + horse"!

And be really, really careful with going into combat with a horse. It's bad enough to get a SS loss, it's even worse to lose one of the more expensive toys in the game.

Nope, sorry. Not happening, at least not with the current system.
  There are several reasons for this, the primary being that our horses are not meant for combat, nor should they be used as such. If it satisfies your curiosity, you will gain no combat bonuses or penalties for fighting on a horse. If you are killed while on a horse, you will be knocked off your horse and your horse will become vulnerable to attack.
  At 18,000 a pop, that's an expensive gamble.

Ah.. well I thought the horse could also get hurt when you were riding it in combat.. buts its just when your charcter dies and fall of the horse it gets vulnerable to attack.. well if thats the case no armor for horses is needed anyway...

Nope...when riding, you and the horse are one physical being, with your character's AC and HPs. That's the mechanics of it, anyway.

Yes.. so if I understand it right.. My horse can't die if my character stays alive when riding it in battle ? What I'm afraid for is that if my character rides and attacks a few giants.. my character maybe just looses 1/4 of his HP.. but the horse falls down dead.. If that can happen I will never take it out to battle.. but if the horse stays alive aslong my charcter stays alive.. then I can live with the risk of dying and lose the horse/ 18 k it cost to buy it..

I have fought many times from horseback myself, though its staying out of reach using my bow.  But I have been caught off-guard and hit pretty badly to the point of regaining hp while still mounted.  I have only been knocked off the horse when I actually died.  So, you stay alive at all costs, so will your horse, but like Dorg said ... 18k for a chance like that ... thats your choice.

Pretty much. When you are mounted, you are the horse, essentially. There is no horse. If your character loses 1/4 of his HP, your horse will not die...because it does not really exist as a creature; you're both.

 Just to highlight this again. Horses are meant for ease of travel not for riding into combat. The horses that one buys in Orc's Watch are not war horses trained for combat, they are merely travel horses.
  So I would strongly advise anyone from using a horse in combat.

Also remember that the chance for crashing for others when you enters their Line of Sight (like, on every AT) increases thousandfolds when you are using a horse (the model for horses seem to have much more polygons).

And, as known, crashing during combat is something that one should really try to avoid.
