    Level requirement for each server
    « on: February 10, 2007, 01:04:04 PM »
Quick question. I know L has posted the 'soft' rule for level requirement for each server. My question is this.

If you decide to explore the server (or engage in battle) on your own (not with a party), and you do not meet the level requirement for that server, is that ok?

I am not trying to find loop holes around the level requirement rule. I just want to get a better understanding of the rule. For L post, it didn't mention whether that was applied to being in a party, or going by yourself.

The reason why I ask this is because I'm sure there are characters out there that can go invisible or greater sanctuary and want to explore by themselves.

personally I think Soloing high level areas with high level characters should be further looked down upon than partying under a soft level limit. But I know that many do not share my opinion and thus would tell you to wait for GM ruling.

well when it comes to exploring central with characters at level 7 they can't do much on their own anyway. It might be a little different when it comes to exploring east that way though.

Well, on the other hand I don't have anything against just exploring... All you can do is to look at places and get a few points of interests for some quick XP.

But then again I could imagine someone making a new character, level it up to 3... learn invisibility and run around all west/central/east leveling up from the point of interest XP.

Very very heavily metagaming of course... but it's not technically against the rules if there isn't a level limit.

So that I don't have to try and find yet another gray line and have people push that one as well (pretty much to the point of no return). The answer is that this applies to soloing as well.

Yes! Solidify the line of gray-ness!! :P
Still on hiatus.  I'm sure my original characters are long gone, too.

Hm... Good thing I got all (well, most) of my exploratory urges with Pyyran, back when he was level five and just learning how to run away from things on Dregar. *Chuckles.* Then again, there wasn't any benefit but learning the lay of the land, before Points of Interest.

Not sure why a low level for a server would want to solo in the first place unless he had a death wish.  At lvl 14, I would not consider solo engagement on central in more than just a few places.  As a ranger, exploring is another thing.. not many places a ranger can't sneak around after lvl 8 or 9 on central.  Only been to east once so I am no expert but the badies are much badder there so I would assume that the same would hold true there for the level limits.  Anyone not wishing a premature perm should think seriously about pushing the limits even as posted.  Granted some classes and character builds are by nature more survivable but still.. death by giant axe comes quickly when you don't have a decent stockpile of HP and some sturdy armor when you are alone.

Remember also that there are a few parts on East that are perfectly acceptable for lower level characters. Specifically, there is the Great Library. Also, I can see justification for a low-level character to be in Arabel.
Beyond that though, unless there is a GM present, it would be best to avoid even solo exploration.

Are ECL races allowed to factor that in?  That is, can a 15th level ECL 2 go to central since they gain XP as if they were 17th level?
