I probably won't set this up for a while, to be honest... At least not until I can talk to my friends who let me have their cds etc for a while to begin with.

Probably reinstall Windows and redo the Linux stuff and partition things so I can just dual boot. It'll save me so much more time -_-

If you have a full installation on the portable drive, then there is no reason for a reinstall. NWN is pretty much self contained, assuming what's on your drive is a copy of an installation.

If anything, I would highly recommend that you follow through on the steps provided on the nwn boards. While cumbersome, I've found following those instructions explicitly will make the game work

As far as wine is concerned, you should be able to configure it to work from a copy of the nwn directory on your zip drive.

I still think the issue comes down to the fixinstall routine I outlined earlier. I had the same problem and that process resolved it.

WINE always worked very nicely for me, after a bit of reading for certain programs/issues. Never tried NWN with it, though. Congrats on the switch, and happy birthday!

What I'm planning to do is reinstall everything in my override and hak folders since my fixinstall crashed in the middle of it all the first time I ran through...Might be the problem.

'Kay, here's the news. ./fixinstall doesn't corrupt files, so that wasn't the problem. It may just be the fact all the paths for NwN are wrong, or I misunderstood that part. Either way, just gonna clear all the directories and redownload most of my own NwN files and force someone to send me their nwn.ini etc if that doesn't work.

If THAT fails, it's a no go for sure.

So I can't really say this was completely fixed, but it's fixed to the point I can definitely play.

I just went back and reformatted everything so I could dual boot Windows and Linux. So...Pretty simple stuff now.

I guess I should have done this to begin with.
