Is it just me?

I was wondering if it's just me or has the drops gone from every monster dropping gold to barely none. I can understand that the drops need to be toned down I can agree with that, but now the drops are even worse the it was before the update. This will really be bad for the dead magic zones, if there is no money to buy healer kits.

Nope, it's not just you.  As it was before with every creature dropping gold due to an error and oversight.  Clearly, that was too much.

I've added code that will let us more easily tune gold drops, so it's probable that after some play testing, the gold drops will increase...at least some of them may.

Just thought you'd like to know that you're not insane. :)

As an addendum.. if you look at the encounters in the dead magic area north of the crossroads, the creatures aren't that numerous compared to other regions of the world.

So with any percentages.. it will always differ from regions with spawns that have more creatures.

Unless you roll lucky of course. ;)

XP and loot is low in that region.  Just kinda the way it goes with that sort of pace (low # monster groups, unhasted/buffed, etc).  But it's fun at least.

SWEET!  Somebody finally fixed the "intestinal snake gold" conundrum?  That always used to bother me that I kept finding hundreds of little coins spill forth from every snake I killed as if I was cracking open some kind of reptilian pinata.  And skeletons... where do skeletons have pockets?  Golem pockets?  Covetous Xorn?

Now if only most golems dropped the gem or ingot they were made from.  There has to be SOME salvageable Iron from an Iron Golem you only hacked to death from a sword you know... it's not like those metal bits and sheddings are just up and evaporating.

Well I wouldn't go that far lonn.  Snakes have rogue levels and it confuses the drop code. Skeletons keep a few coins in their skulls.

Seriously though, those issues will still exist, but the frequency will be greatly reduced.

I've always agreed about that. It's not like harvesting will even be an issue. In every place where there is CNR to be had, something is always waiting to rob or eat you while you try and get it.

Now, I've seen Golems dropping deposits before, but as far as I know a very small amount of people ruined that by over-harvesting. Still, I think that if it's fighting back and it is made out of X substance, then it should drop a few. Or even scrap metal, which would make sense. Unless you're going to lug back a 9000 pound golem arm to the nearest smithy.
