Broken Hope Robes

Quick question...

These say on hit slow level 8...

They worked on the first encounter I ever wore them on, (I was testing the effects of them) I could see the saves that the creatures were making etc... even slowed them once.

After that I saw no saves, nothing...  Have tested it several times.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Well...

I went an fought a bunch of stuff I could whack alot (ogres), no saves shown, no slow, nothing.  Could I possibly have a bugged set of robes?  I have wanted these along time IG, now I have them and they don't do anything, at least it seems that way to me.  And robes that have a level req. of 18 should do something? Right?:)

Any thoughts?

They don't have a chance to slow when you hit enemies, but when enemies hit you.  You may already understand that, but the way your second post is worded makes it unclear - "I went an fought a bunch of stuff I could whack alot..."  Find something that can whack you a lot instead and see what happens, heh.

I think the idea with On Hit Slow is that weapons are offensive and armor is defensive.  On Hit Slow on a weapon slows enemies when you hit them (offensive), and it slow enemies when they hit you on armor (defensive).  The weapon version may seem more useful, but the armor version gives you a chance to escape being surrounded by a mob, which can be a big life saver.

If you are seeing no saves then nothing is hitting you :) I would say that is a good thing :D

Yep, thanks that is it...

I thought monk robes... on hit slow... meaning when you hit something they were slowed... since monks don't use weapons and all I didn't even think about that.

I was thinking offensive.

But I suppose that means nothing has hit me in weeks!

Thanks for the responses.

Also bear in mind that the slow has a DC, in this case 18 vs. fortitude.  So like any other spell, creatures with a superior saving throw in this bracket are going to resist it quite handily.

The DC is 16 vs Will.

Yeah, Farros uses those whips like the Adler which stuns on hit on just a DC 12-16 or so, and against most giants, it's pretty effective.

I'm pretty sure the way the system works "on hit" effects is that if it's armor, then it activates whenever you are hit, and if its a weapon or gloves, then whenever you hit the monster yourself.  It can be confusing since it only says "on hit".
