Well the title say it... If you had to name one song, what would it be?!
(allright if it is completely impossible a short list is fine aswell ;) )

I have one song in mind but will have to listen to it and some others first to ensure myself hehe

Unfortunately, my opinion on the best song changes from time to time.

For the Brits.... check out Radio 1's "Live Lounge".. RazorLight's live GoldenTouch is classic

Evanescence - Going Under   always makes me thing of Layonara considering the amount of times i was listening to it whilst the Explorer's were off getting paggered somewhere.

And since I just "refound" it again    Oasis  - "Songbird"  is another classic.

And for fun.... Tenacious D   " Tribute  ( Best song in the worl ) "

Oh...er.... that kinda throws out "the" best song... since I've mentioned four. But....there you go  ;)

Well the best song should be something you never ever get tired of. So for me, I'd say Hoobastank - Pieces.

Why? Dan Estrin is a genius. The song has absolutely amazing guitar riffs and cords. This is the song that made Hoobastank what it is and is a bright example of Hard Rock at its best.

Gym Class Heroes, shoot down the stars. Great song the first got me hooked.

Also I have to agree with LordCove and say Tenacious D, Tribute...because this is not the greatest song in the world! no, this is just a tribute  ;)

The best? Depends on when and what mood... but this is one of the top 20.

Totally agree with Harlas, dependant on time, mood and place.

I had a friend pass away earlier in the year and at her funeral a choir sang Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah which right then and there became the song that has affected me more than any other.

Up until that point, maybe Storybook Love by Willy DeVille which was our bridal waltz song (a bit redneck I know, but hey, I was 20).

Afterthought: also Mother by Danzig. Always makes me lament they couldn't let their fascination with things Satanic go and sing about more general wholesome stuff.

:)

    Impossible to pick one.

I love music from all styles.  Most of the hip hop I like i couldn't post due to their titles.  Same goes with some of the metal songs.

However, to throw a spanner into the works I'd have to say one of my all-time favourite tunes is by Antonio Vivaldi's four seasons, 'Concerto No. 4 in F minor', otherwise known as 'Winter'.

Okay it took some time and I have to say there is no "one best song". I listened even moer to music than I do anyway and I find an answer though.

    Best-overall-Song:
    >>Dream Theatre - Change of Seasons

2 songs that have a special emotional meaning to me:
    >>Whitney Huston - I will always love you

    >>Shakira - Underneath your cloth

3 Special Prices for.... *shurgs* Special price :D
    >>Ayreon - The Human Equation (not a single song but an album dealing with a story and all songs are directly linked so I treat them as one, makes it easy for me, hehe)

    >>Opeth - The Drapery Falls

    >>Carlos Santana - Samba pa ti

I could go on with the list till judgement day, but this are the most important to me. And I want to say thanks for the answers sofar, very nice songs among them (some I didnt even knew before), special thanks for bringing up "Tribute" the song and the video are just to cool and for PinkFloyd - Time. This would be probably one of the next ones on my list!

Bit of an odd song, I just recently came to hear it after the latest Weeds episode. The vocalist has a great voice, and she plays the keyboards fantastically.

But the song still is a bit...weird to say, enjoy:
