    early days of layonara
    « on: October 01, 2007, 12:39:12 AM »
    Hi folks,

I was catching up on my layonara history tonight, since it's been almost two years since we've played, or 30 years game time.  The last time we logged in was while waiting in the delivery room for the birth of our daughter.   Shortly after we got a bit busy, if you can imagine.

Anyway, I was trying to figure out when the live layonara started, and was helped by the Wayback Machine ...

    Internet Archive Wayback Machine

where I found the early news:

Layonara - A roleplaying fantasy world using Dungeons and Dragons and Neverwinter Nights

    which says:

    "10/6/2 -  Beta 2 is now online."

"9/7/2 -  The first official release for Layonara has been released.  "

The launch corresponds to a game year of 1340, and beta 2 corresponds to 1341, which is when Bloodstone returns in the timeline.

Just wondering if game time has really been that consistent all along.   Did 1341 start the real events?  Also, who remembers the early years?

Anyway, it's good to be back and see so many familiar names.  Zerpa and I were surprised we could find our way back to Hlint from Hempstead.

I don't remember back to Beta two, but I do remember back to the days of Bloodstone.

The timeline has moved along fairly consistently... yeah, wow, so much has happened since the time when Bloodstone first appeared.

When the new handbook comes out, you'll have even more to read up on.
