Snake to close to AT (spirit dunes)
« on: October 28, 2007, 08:15:51 AM »
Description: After the transition ported me from the Ire mountains in the Spirit Dunes I was attacked by a yellow snake. The snake is that close to the transition that it reacehs you in a few seconds, without any chance to prepare. I dout this is wanted. I think it was even mentioned once before and was handled but somehow it sems as if this happens again

Location: Entrance of the Spirit Dunes (coming from the Ire mountains)

Verified:

Reproducable: Don't know if it happened only once, by chance, or everytime. My PC nearly got killed and I dont want to risk it again ;)

The snake is not usually close to the transistion.

What must have happened is that someone ran away from the snake and left it on the transistion.

Is this one of the creatures that respawn at the last place it is killed? This little bugger ends up inching his way towards that transition and needs to be moved every once in a while.

The snake was moved back with the last update.  It's not going to move back any more.  It's likely it was left there and/or may have respawned in-place due to lag.

This was just bad luck.

I went into that area and the snake is on the side of the hill facing the transition. I killed it and moved on. When I came back through, it was on the side of the hill facing the transition again.

It was not left there, it is apparently a new spawn point.

I am not sure if this was a just an odd respawn, or maybe the yellow snake needs to be tweaked back in place. But when I l was heading out of the desert last night, the yellow snake was in the transition area. Just earlier I killed that snake behind the hill, so thought I would give a heads up.

I just reset the server (like within the last hour or so).

Someone please check this out again.

Incidentally, West had been up for nearly 12 days continuously without a single crash.  While that's quite significant, the possibility for odd things to start happening (like things respawning in the wrong spot) does increase in times like that.

Just check and the snake was sitting quietly baking in the sun on the next hill right next to the sand deposit.

So very far from the transistion, matter of fact, I had to walk onto the first hill to see it.
