Clover, Rael
« on: December 03, 2007, 02:53:52 AM »
From what I understand Clover is currently not under Raels domain... However I found out very recently that Rael seems to be planning to take over that community, if that is really happening I would really like to know since Storold, Mylindra, Tyrian and Mylindra and Storolds children lives there and moved from Pranzt to there because of Rael.
So please someone say what exactly is going on with Clover and Rael since the people living there would definatly know what is actually going on around the place.

Here is a link to the page on the Kingdom of Rael.

 http://forums.layonara.com/histories-content/125542-kingdom-rael-dregar.html

It contains the following passage which describes the extent of Raels influence and his attempts to expand (I have highlighted the part pertaining to Clover) -

Quote
The Lord of Rael is now spreading slowly north and south, having replaced the governments of Sierra, Rangley, Anvil, Fort Rael, Blackwind, Fort Hold, Fort Love, Heathers Glade, and Seawatch Fort. Haft Lake, being somewhat more independent, is beholden to his laws and Lords Tax but he has kept a light hand there for reasons he does not disclose. Clover is currently being negotiated with to join the growing number of towns that house Rael guards and follow Rael laws, and Golden is said to be next in the Lords sights. The wooded cities - Vale, Oakhurst, and Orcs Watch - are outside his influence currently, being mostly rangers, druids, and outcasts. Castle Mask, Golden, and Dektis are under local control of Lor, which remains an independent city. Certain council members in Lor have recently switched to praising the new regime however, and the tides are shifting in favor of an alliance at the very least. Raylynn is well-hidden on the west coast and answers to no one.

In reading this it is useful to refer to a map of Dregar, which you can access here -

and... can Tyrian run for mayor or whatever of Clover and keep out Raels influence?

Another question I guess would be what form of government does clover use? It has to be maybe a town council? I would think that Mylindra, Storold and Tyrian would hold some sway over it considering they are probably the most powerful individuals in town...

//goes to plaster Tyrian for Mayor posters about Clover...//

Name:  Clover

Location:   Deep in the Forest of Fog, on Dregar.

Terrain:  Thick southern forest surrounds Clover.  The town pads along a soft blanket of pine needles and the murmur of wind in the trees, and the cross-timber ranch homes sit in a clearing with one end a debris-strewn path that leads to the road to Blackwind.  As this is a logging town, the local terrain is carefully trimmed forest with bark, needles and branches in piles around the outskirts.  Because of the noise or perhaps due to druidic intervention, animals shy away from this area.  There is the constant lullaby of domestic animals; the braying of donkeys and mules, the lowing of oxen and cows, the clucking of chickens, and the snorting of pigs.  Aside from the trees, there are multitudes of small gardens providing vegetables and some fruit.

Population:  1,100 – 78% Human, 20% Halfling, 1% Elf, 1% Half-Elf

Defenses:  None.  The town has never before had to deal with anything worse than threats and the occasional giant attack.  Many of the town’s younger folks are trained by the elders to wield scythes, bows or axes with efficiency and this has been sufficient to beat back the giant clans when they have caused troubles, and to deal with the occasional monstrosity.

Notable People:

Mayor “Nana” Ceeley is an elderly woman who spent most of her life as a ranger in Vale.  Her love of the forest was always balanced by common sense, however.  When she heard of the troubles in Clover, she came to see what she could do to help, and fell in love with the town.  She has worked tirelessly to enact logging policies that are not offensive to the forests protectors and are profitable to the town.  So far, she has succeeded.  She is just over five feet, slightly built, with short grey hair, warm brown eyes, and a cheery wit.

Thank you Ed :) I had no idea about where Storold was really living before this nice describtion was given. I really hope however that Tyrian gives up even if there is a mayor there still might be a need for a new one in the future, so who knows if Tyrian will be the next mayor of Clover.

I'm afraid we're going to have to add unthanking options in the forum for any of us to have a chance.  He's just so bloody thankable!  He's like that one boy scout who always holds the door open for people, and get's so caught up in it he sits there being a door man for 15 people before he enters the store.

Each time I wish to refer to Eds post providing content info for the town of Clover, on Dregar, I need to do a search. Would some one on the team move or copy that post to one of the Layonara World Lore forums at their convenience? My guess would be the Cities/Towns/Fortessess/Dungeons Forum.

 Thanks! :)
