Myconid elders and no save
« on: December 30, 2007, 10:42:08 PM »
I noticed today that the Myconid elders that haunt the road south of Prantz do a ranged touch attack that does on hit daze with no save.  That seemed odd that there was no way to avoid being dazed no matter how strong your mind may be.  I was hoping some day to be able to encounter them without fear of their confusion.  If this is indeed the effect I think we should bottle whatever it is that causes this.  It could be useful in combatting some of the great evils out there.  We could just bring some Mycondids when we go to face Fisterion.  He would be easy for them to touch :)

Well actually there are quite a few things without save against their abilities other than avoiding the ranged touch attack... The spider queens with the web bolt is an example but there are more out there as far as I recall. I believe this is intended to make sure that you actually need a group to take the creature down since you can't live through it without an immunity that can be given through a spell, just my oppinion about it. I know this is sort of unbalancing towards mages/clerics but again, there are other places where fighters are highly needed so I think this is not an unfair advantage at any rate...
And I believe your plan against Fisty would fail because he is probably immune to mind spells, but that is just a thought ;)

There are plenty of spells cast by PC's that have no save as well.  Give the poor mushroom people a break.

Beli is immune to mind effects and does not get bothered by the touch attacks. Combined with his high AC it's like picking wild mushrooms. Now if only fighting Fisty was like swatting a fly!

We need the old Fisty back.

You used to be able to dominate the hardest boss in Layonara and use him to kill the second hardest.
