As far as I can remember, Errk was the one eaten by Fisty :)

Oh, and isn't the warrior PC Kharl Drake permed as well?

Yup... poor Tyrian will never forget Ifion, considering he was one of the two loves of her life and due to her rash actions he permed...:(

Sa'kura also permed dying under the claws & teeth of the trolls in the swamps near Fort Vehl.  Sadly, Treana, as well as a few others were only moments shy of being there in time to save her.

Still...at least her pink-haired daughter lives on.  ;)

Daniel is still around at 9 dts..just to set the record straight.

I retired him after all.  Lost my enthusiasm to rp him after he retired.

My roommate Skabot is at 9/10 right now, and my old college buddy Czukay was at around 8/10 when he moved to Denver.  Both of them are extra cautious these days when the log in, trying to make it to 21st for Soul Mother Defense.

Of all my characters, Bjorn and Farros at lvl 18 both only have 2 DTs and Kor has 1 at 10th.  The rest all have a clean slate in that regard.  Having been here for 4 years now, I've seen many come and go.

Snivies and Mercas' perms hit Bjorn pretty hard.  Both of them were some of his favorite and hardest working jewelcraft apprentices.  Addison's was a real bummer too since she was his most reliable mining partner.  And when Ayla died it was hard on Farros since he always had a crush on her, and there was that whole impending wedding he was fretting about.  The only permadeath I saw in person I think was Jacchri's false alarm, when they were fighting drow at the seige of Caduz's temple and he had a SS reimbursement pending... so we all got to see the cutscene and he came back a couple days later.

I think it would be interesting to know how many just quit playing their characters at 9 dts.  I think many don't perm because they stop playing at that point.  I know there are a few that made it through that 20 to 21 with one ss left.

i know of two who quit at 9 cym while aeon already had nye
and creighton did the poof

i thought about changing drogos habits when he hit his ninth dt but then i recalled when he and brisbane were talking one day

even at nine with one more chunk of soul left before leaving completely, does a druids path or duty change

not at all and its why i kept playing him at 19th with my ninth and tenth strands within 2 days of each other

just bad rolls on both times but he went out like he lived

Yep - that happened a while back.  I think the first character to perm was played by Tathnolu no? (Not Tath the elf, but Tath the player).

Lets not forget the charming cleric of beryl that wore purple robes and green shoes...Doc! Doc was Ami's man, at least that is what she thought. He would send shivers down her back everytime she heard his voice. His touch made her tremble. It was a devastating blow to her when she found out of his passing.

As for having a character perm, a character that you create and develop. A character that gets a life of their own, with a real personality...you don't want to see that character go away and never see or play that character again. The stick in the mud, serious, ranger Rodlin. The blonde, want to have fun and flirt in the name of Ilsare, happy go lucky, Ami. And then the true fighter mentality that thinks he can fight anything, gods gift to women, whose motto is fight hard chase women hard, Lance Coyle. They all are very different and have "developed" their own personalities. I really didn't have a set path or personality set for them at creation. They just turned out that way like in real life. So there is a certain amount of attachment to these "avatars"; these virtual "people". We deal with death everyday. Why would we want to in a game. Yes, yes, I know...it is only a game. We have to fear death, etc. What about a pet? It is only an animal. Why is there such an attachment?
