Intended or Bug?
« on: March 15, 2008, 09:22:33 PM »
I was testing some enchanted arrows with sneak attack, and couldn't see if the enchantment was doing anything. All there was, was the negative energy of the stirge wings.

Is this normal? there was also a cold 2 on the arrow.

You're really lacking details here. What arrows did you use on what creature? Because unless the negative energy was racial damage, the enchantment should have overwritten the negative energy damage.

Assuming you mean the cold enchantment from the rod?

It was copper tipped, mahogoany, stirge arrows, with a cold 2 applied to it. basically it was tried on a snake while we were doing a trip in the desert. Benjamin (rogue) was the one using the arrows and I asked him if the cold damage was applying on top of the sneak attack. He said he didn't see it get applied.

The cold damage on the arrows would overwrite the negative from the stirge feathers as far as I know.

As for sneak damage, you only get sneak damage from a bow if you within a certain range from the creature bing attacked. So hitting is no guarentee of getting sneak. I think the range is meduim which is about 30 feet. Outside that range and you can still hit and damage but just no sneak damage.

Yep the elemental damage overrides the negative energy damage. Tyrian uses enchanted arrows and all I ever enchant is plain old arrows from the merchants for just this reason. Its the same as enchanting a bronze blade where it overrides the 2 points of slashing damage.
