Idoran Mossfeild - Son of a Merchant.

Travel seems long, so I pass my time by writing this journal. I manage well by my self, and lay down a whooping, but I give those dusty coat racks in the crypts credit where it is due. I made my way deep into the crypt, finding the mummy the old gravedigger mentioned. The bloody thing just about crushed my skull to a pulp. I ended up back in the forts town, and what struck me odd was the only thing that stood out in my memory of the crypts was flowers. I remembered seeing them, but the joy of the fight distracted me. Why would there be flowers growing out of the stone? I went back and found nothing. Blasted mummy smacked me good.
I traveled about, especially around Fort Hempstead. Two fresh graves, and a slew of onlookers marked the scene, especially the guard. He was bleeding daggers from his eyes, he was. I frowned at the guard captain. There was no need for such unpleasantries, especially towards a lady. He yelled about the law and such, and continued to do so at a lad near him as she walked away to the pond. I would have went over there, but as bashful as I am, I'd just make fool of myself. I turned my attention to a rather large man lying on the ground. I went to help him up, and as hefty as he was, I noticed the orc blood in him. He might have a different raising, but was no reason for a fight. I had the mind to go punch the guard, being the bloody idiot he acts like. I was glad I kept my cool, after reading the notice from the court tribunal. It would be interesting to see the results. Its a shame the "half-bloods", for a lack of term, are shunned. Eventually they will die out, from the changes in the weave and nature. A sad thing it is.
I was pleased to finally see the Temple of Deliar with my own eyes. Such beauty was amazing. After my prayer and small tribute, I left in search of adventure. My travels shall bring me to many sights, and with Deliar's blessing, maybe more.

Aye, It has been a long day. I have been recuperating from my travels with my new friend Sallozzo. Found the man just out of hempstead, out in the fields, right after a trip through the stone. Those kolbolds put up a fight! We eventually agreed to travel about, him doing most of the leading. I could easily say I traveled almost all of Mistone! Found a couple of interesting sights, including an old grove and a small watch tower. He helped me gather a few things as well, although our gathering stopped short after a goblin scout laid down some punishment... Heh. We would have waited hours, where it not for a fellow adventurer that crossed paths with us. can't say I remember the blokes name, let alone if he told me. I also decided to do some heavy mining after the amazing adventure. It would be good to start a trade for myself. Besides, I need the True.
As for this trial for this Muhk, I will attend that, If I'm not tied up at the moment. I have a keen interest on what happened there. None of my business, but I'm always curious. Not to say my curiosity isn't a little zealous.

Woke up in the Inn the next day to find a gathering out side. Looked like an Adventure, so I jumped in to join. Think I might have scared Miss Daniella off. Guess Toranites don't like Deliar. I was quick to find many around me. I meet Tod, Miss Daniella, Miss Tree (forgot the other bit of her name, feel a tad ashamed), Mip, Niloc, Balthazar, Marec, Aesither (same issue here... I think. Guess I met too many today), Oleame (I'm really bad with names...), and Lance. We traveled deep into the cavern, and what an adventure it was! I wasn't doing to great, and about got killed a couple times, but that's the thrill, right? Speaking of which, mister Aesither took a rather unpleasant trip to the void. He was a heavy one, he is, especially with all that armor. I just about broke my neck after taking a hit from one of those bloody goblins. You could have said that Aesither was going to continue killing goblins even after death, but I held on to him. My comrade was more important than the fight at the time. Miss Daniella finally lessened the hostility, but I doubt it was because I was helping. I have no worries though. Delair might have his enemies, but I know I am the better person for not judging one by their beliefs. Sometimes I think it's cause the Toranite is a woman (feisty they are)...
*Idoran is laughing at this point, and makes a quick note.*
Well, I hope this disagreeing comes to an end. I have a felling that I'm gonna be seeing a lot more Toranites. And I feel that they aren't going to be as welcoming.

Been traveling for the past few days. Mostly rainy weather... Met another good friend, Sallaron Tempest. helped me on a couple of errands, and got some good experience traveling with the man. He holds up well for a wounded man. To think I worried about him.
I also meet Rain Darsus... I learned more about the "trail" from him, and that there would be none. Poor fellow doesn't stand a chance... May Delair grant him swift travel. I heard of the Angels, and I am fully for their cause. I plan on going soon to ask for membership.
As for life? Bah! All these bloody quarrels with religion and philosophies kill me. I was never a religious man, just raised in the house of a merchant, and with Deliar's blessing, survived the cold Famine that swept the world. Those blasted Toranites and Rofireinites just don't know where the line is drawn. Miss Daniella is as agreeable as ever... And I happened to be right about meeting more Zealots... Aesthier seems a bit ungrateful for my actions. Bah, I say. See if I ever help that arse of a man again. Also that Raz... Has eyes for Daniella, and turns to jokes about my religion to gain some favor from her. Despicable! I wanted to rip the bastards throat out. I left, calming myself. No need to get angry... Only hurt myself that way. I find it frustrating with all of this babbling. I have gone as far as putting aside all differences, and I still get treated like the scum from a goblin's ear. Sometimes I just don't know if religion is more of a disease...

*the handwriting seems a tad shaky*
Traveling has been bad. Found out that most people fuss over religion to the extent of violence, and it's rather depressing that one of Ilsare's wouldn't support me. I met Marec again, and he took me to meet with an adventuring group. Found "Miss" there as well. I had no clue as to what the plan was. just followed, mainly Tod. Didn't meet many off the people there, except for the lovely Miss Ell. She resurrected me in those minotaur caves that "Miss" was so determined to go into.
They had Tod drawing in a couple of the half cows in, but accidentally brought the whole lot of them. I was ready in my spot, but not for that many. I jumped in front of Tod, poor fellow must have been scared... never seen a Halfling run so fast. I stepped in, but wasn't strong enough. Got beat down so bad. I found Dieing rather peaceful, though.... No bickering about whose god was better, no hatred, nothing. Absolute nothing. That's when Miss Ell brought me back. I felt ashamed. I didn't deserve that kindness. I asked her as to how I could repay, and she simply told me to return that kindness to others in need. She made my debt to her a debt to the world. I live by Delair's ways, and a trade is a trade. I would have to train, practice many trades, do much work. Yet so little time. I Fear it is a bargain I can't hold up to.
Been gathering more oak for Miss Yvale. I could start off with that...

Traveling is well. Not much interesting. I think I'll make an appearance for the other folks. I have been a bit of a recluse, but travel and adventure does that. Mining is going horribly wrong. already broke plenty of picks.
Seems to be an influx of odd adventurers as well. Time to meet some more people!

I'm never touching anything I find again... at least until I'm sure it won't curse me... I picked up a withered Rose lying on the path through the crypt we entered. we followed a man who directed us there for some reason, and already after coming out into the world, I'm getting my self in trouble. The rose made me so infatuated with Sala... I was being very indecent, and how Ashamed I feel! Even it it was the rose speaking, I still feel guilt when I see her. By the traveller's toes, I hope I paid of what ever debt I owed, For I surely never want such a thing to happen again!...

well. This week was interesting enough. Meet a whole group of travelers. Nice to see that Deliar sends friendly faces my way. There was Vrebel, the Stout warrior, Trey, the Elf wizard, And last but not least, the beautiful Miss Hanta. we helped Vrebel and his elf friend get the bards necklace... once again. I swear she loses the bloody thing every month...
We met a strange Goblin in the woods. He was seemingly different, and didn't attack us. It almost came to a point about negotiating a position as a caravan scout for my Father, which he would go hopping mad if he found out, but he could use a scout after the last incident. But it never happened. The Elf taunted him a bit too much... I ended up burying him so the wild life didn't gather...
Later, after finding the necklace, Hanta and I showed the other two about Smelting and metal work. It was strange. I met a woman with similar fighting style, trade, and sense of humor. This must have been Deliar's luck bestowed upon me! Besides that, someone left their ox in the building. and it tore a hole in the floor... I had to patch it up, lest some one hurt themselves. I stole the others away while Hanta worked on the rest of the Ore. I was lucky too, else I would have been crushed by those mercenaries with out they're help. I had to travel with wounds for most of the trip.
We got the hickory, but I forgot about sand paper. I happened upon some spare left in a drawer. I went through two of them with no success, but the third was successful, and we had our plank. we got back, and I Made my apologies and presented her with a lily near the hickory. It was merely a small token of apology, but I'm not sure ho she took it...
*Idoran shrugs, chuckling to himself*
I patched up the hole. Took some time, considering I had to rip the original out, and get the other lined up and get a snug fit. Eventually, It worked it self in, and it was good as new. No more oxen in the building, so long as I live. I don't get paid enough to do that often.
*chuckles again*
I got my room at the inn, and dozed off. I knew they'd all be gone, because of my gashes. It will take some time to recover from them...
*Rubs his head, fixing a bandage every so often. He smiles as he write the last line*
Looks like Delair has work cut out for me. Maybe I should be a priest? nah. They don't get in enough brawls. It wouldn't be any fun.

oh my... I just gave up a dust, and wasted a question on my trip through the deep.... It was so.. different.
we went to see Shadrixkyal, the Deepening Dark. ( I think that's how it's spelled...) We all had to offer something, and at first I thought of nothing, but then I remembered that dust I got. the Dragon's Claw dust. I knew it's power, but offered it anyways, not wanting the group to be slayed for not giving anything of worth... and I regret it. I was asked about it, and I lied, saying I knew nothing about it, in hopes he'd give it back to me. they were false hopes.
But as many things go in life, Deliar granted me a trade. one thing for another. At the end, I was given a small wand, used to locate Orn's Tear, an Item the dragon requested for more information. I will not be as foolish with this item as I was with the other. I will be especially careful.
I also notice that something is watching me... at all times. I get the odd feeling it's my shadow, as if I've been marked, but I'm not sure.
It's been a rough time for me... I hope this doesn't end in tears...

Steel warned me off assassins. I've became... paranoid. watching the shadows, even my own. I was told I'd be safe in Leringard and Hempstead, but I don't feel that way. I've also thought of Steels offer, and I plan on accepting it... but I can't stay in the city. It has became oppressive and it seems like it is closing in around me. I don't want to let the wand go... but I might have to.

*Idoran massages his arm as he writes*
Well, I've been offered Training from Steel, and I need to see him soon. He has the wand, and I hear they got the Tear. Good for them, but I bloody we hope they don't do something stupid. My arm tore on the inside before the last trip, so I had to sit out and recover. It'd healed back into healthy condition, but I can't say that it loos the same. It still hurts when I move it. and my movement has been somewhat restricted by the regrowth. I'll need to work that out soon. At least I haven't had the dreams lately... I could use some sleep. I've yet to encounter an assassin though...
A man, Fehreil, has took a liking to a woman. Belle, her name is. I met her a while back, and watching the two is funny. reminds me of plenty of things. And he's a feisty one he is. Got some beef with me for a while, but It subsided after we talked for a while. Poor fellow has nightmares about killing her...which, quite frankly, scares the, well you know...
I still need to patch up that hole Fleur burnt in my cloak.
*he smiles*
She though it would be funny to electrocute my rear, while in full armor. I think I won't bother with it. To much on my mind. I haven't seen that woman in ages by now...
*sighs*
I shouldn't even bother...
And Bloody hells, I'm getting old fast. Thirty one years already... It seems like only yesterday I was a spry whelp, but then again, I got some years ahead of me.
*grins lopsidedly*
Not quite that old yet.

*Idoran begins taking note of many things, and previous pages are filled notes on verbal incantations and gestures, as well as some components observed being used. One that has plenty of notes on it is 'Burning Hands'*
I spoke with steel a long while back. He began to teach me a few things on magical defense and the such. I have taken an odd fascination with magic and the like, especially after learning I can't take magic head on. So I've decided to become a practitioner, should I be able to handle it. I spoke with Cearwyn, and his teacher Timulty, and they provided some insight, and I've been pointed to Storold. I was told he could give me a shove in the right direction... I've been meaning to ask Fleur to teach me a bit of magic, seeing that she has already burnt me a few times with a fireball...
*Chuckles*
So she at least owes me that small bit...
Also, recently, I've fought my first Giants... I've never been that overpowered one-to-one... well, except Steel and a few others. I was traveling with Fehriel and Mirren when we were over there... we eventually wandered into some desert land near a place I heard of as "Audria". We took out a good lot of them, but Fehril fell in battle. I lugged him all the way to Prantz, and we met Tod on the way. He guided us to a house with a portal in it, but it wasn't the one we planned on, as Lance's house was locked when he tried the door. I only remember that fellow as a Toranite, and they don't like me too much...
*Shrugs*
but we found another, and I swear I was gonna be questioned by those gruff gourds... Bah! Prantz is a despicable place. Why people live there, I have no Idea, and What in the hells is a Toranite doing there? I guess all things will be answered in time.
Deliar guide my wondering feet.

*Idoran grumbles to himself, watching his shadow as he heads to Hmepstead. Half way through Dapplegreen, he cries out in frustration and spins about, looking for someone. a lone squirrel pauses in it's nut hunting to give him a blank stare, then scampers off with his acorn. Idoran looks around, before his gaze final rests on his shadow. He begins speaking to it.*
"I know yer watchin' me. I felt it the first time ya attached yerself to me. Gut feelin's do that, ya know?"
*He bends down to pick up a rock, and chucks it at the shadowy portrayal of himself on the ground. The rock strikes the dirt where the head would be, and bounces away into the leaves. the shadow doesn't flinch. He mutters, accent dropping completely.*
"I'm going to get rid of you some how..."
*He mutters a quick prayer to Deliar, then opens his journal to look at the gestures ad incantations for a Light spell, or at least what he was able to pick up from it, and gives it a try. Nothing. He grumbles, then storms off to Hempstead, perusing his journal notes, making sure the shade can't see the open pages.*

The hells, where do I start?
Tear given to Fisterion
Travel to Fisterion
Get attacked by shadows.... twice
More notes for magic
learn that the only way to rid my curse is to sacrifice blood kin... to Pyrtechon.
and some fool wants to help me break the curse.....
I can't keep this accent up any longer....
Magic is coming along nicely... save that I probably drove off my potential teacher....
*grumbles*
I got notes on the "basics", a spell called burning hands, and color spray... the last too are close enough... I have quite a bit of learning to do before I can mess with those higher up spells.... but I hope to master mixing blade and magic.... then there won't be anymore "fort vehl arena" incidents....
The tear was given to another dragon... Fisterion.... the "lord of all dragons"... so now, not only have I been marked as a traitor to shadrixkahl and the shadows attack me, but I have to sacrifice my Father just to rid my self of it... I would jump in a pit of blood thirsty Toranites, and get roasted over a goblin fire, before I gave up my father to some dragon. But by the Traveler's toes, that monster is huge!... oh yes... Fehriel decided to "sacrifice" himself before thinking that he doesn't could as blood relative to -anyone-.... not to mention that he is a bloody fol for doing that... He -has- people that care for him... he just pushes them away.... sometimes I think he enjoys being a martyr.
and this woman... she talks big... slaying dragons? how in the hells can I do that? She makes it sound easy.....
*grouches*
but she gives me some hope... I just can't think of any other way to rid of it..... I can't help but acknowledge that I am stuck with it... at least assassin's haven't attacked me... I think steel was trying to keep me in hempstead...

I've gotten help with my spell practice.... Iris.. a rather odd lady... and Fleur.... they both helped a lot. Bloody light spells seem more complex... But at least with the original notes I got off of steel long ways back and more notes I add and observe got me to a rather decent point on burning hands.... Color spray is rather close in gestures... but it has some different incantations I can't get right..... Most important II think, is that next time... I plan on learning more of the Al'noth.... I need to learn to channel it...

*notes and more notes follow, and there is a estimation of a several years before goals are reached.*
Counterspelling... Sorcerers are stuck with pattern of spells in one manner..... Wizards can use a vast array, with a smaller amount of force. Example offered by the Sorceress Jaelle was Creature cards.... Cursed game... *"cursed" is underlined in some contempt.* Each Spell usually can be countered through Mirror spell? not sure, need to check.... Also additional counters exist.... "clarity" was an example.
Elven was recommended by Steel... That would take some long years to learn. Steel mentioned that a lot of books of magic are written in Elven...
Elohanna Dawnstar.
*underlined heavily in the side margin, with reference to an academy*
Schools of magic... Think there are eight total?
Necromancy - power and manipulation over life and death.
Illusions - self explanatory... more or less.
Evocation - Fireballs and "offensive" magic. - remember to bug Fleur about Fireballs one day....
Conjuration - Conjures things....
Abjuration
[/U] - Power to dampen the effects of the Al'noth, and defend one's self from magic. Looks more and more friendly after each bit of information.
*This word is heavily underlined and outlined..... he wants to focus here obviously*
watches demonstrations of counter spelling and abjuration as well as evocation.
Head... hurts... done writing today....

*Idoran mutters a curse as he spills some Iron hammer bock on his journal. he uses his shirt to wipe the pages carefully, and flips to a dry page, and gets the urge to write. he unpacks a quill and ink bottle (a durable one at that) and begins writing at the bar in the Scamp.*
I went to the Tower academy... I could never find Miss Dawnstar, but I went ahead and knocked on the academy doors... I found Miss Jaelle there... well, didn't know it was her until she pulled her hood down.
Anyways...
Enchantments - don't want to get caught in one.... not fun...
Conjuration - Miss Jaelle scared me witless... she summoned a Shadow, and concerning a few things, I panicked... but this feild would be restricted from me if I specialized in abjuration... which I think I will. I can deal with out summoning things, I think... I'd much rather spend time with defensive spells...
Familiars came up as well... pseudo-dragons and... eyeballs were mentioned.... hell hounds are the rarest, I've been told... something to do with a "empathetic link", so I can understand that... wonder how that will work out for me....
Jaelle suggested I try the libraries at Voltrex or Blackford castle.... no harm in that... in the meanwhile, I'll go over what notes I have, and practice more.... maybe I could light up my boots to temporarily get rid of that shadow....
*Idoran's Stomach growls in protest of the lack of food, and Ido orders some of the chef's "special" of the day....*

*Idoran pulls out his journal, and begins his writing, sitting in the alcove of an inn*
Where to start? I can cast magic now, and weave the Al'noth to do simple things. I am sticking with abjuration as the main focus of my studies....
*He looks to his shadow, and sighs in relief.*
A am also a free man, more or less. I have met the -third- dragon by now, the "Great Emerald", or Yog'oldrandia. She released us of the "curse", but in return, we bound ourselves to an oath that should she, the forest, or Voltrex be in dire need, we would be there regardless to assist unless otherwise told.
... Dragons are supposed to be -rare-... I'm not supposed to meet -three-, let alone -one-. Deliar obviously has tossed me an odd coin to flip, because it brings the oddest things on my travels.
On a better note, I won something from the raffle. I got six rings, each with unique properties. I could definitely use these to pay for a few things. I was hoping for a house, but this is good enough.
I continue my practice of spells, and even zapped Fleur back...
*chuckles*
.... Father Luck with me... Father Luck with us all...
*Idoran turns his head and looks out the alcoves window, facing east. facing Belinara and the Cult. He closes his journal and spends time out of the inn, enjoying the cool breeze while he can.*

*Idoran chuckles as the stiff binding on the journal stubbornly opens up. The next entry was entered at a date far from that of the last one.*
Well, time to start recording a bit more of my life... Not much to say, other than that sparks are fun to play with... I've continued reviewing spells and notes... all of them are nicely tucked in another book.... I've actually torn a bunch out of this journal... I run out of ink fast, so no need rewriting what's already written...... By the travelers wandering feet, I need to find a mentor for Elven... I'm interested in more spells.... I've yet to find any material on... "combining" spell and sword....... Ha! spellsword! I made a funny... but jokes aside... I know that the basics for enchanting require the Al'noth to be embedded into an object, separate from the caster.... well, that's how this bloody enchantment rod works... I'm thinking too much, that's probably a bad thing.... I better confirm this with Steel or Jaelle before making a fool of myself...
*large swig is take from a half-full bottle of Iron Hammer Bock. He pauses over his last entry, adjusting himself in his chair in the bar's little corner. He dips the quill, and scratches away at the thick pages.*
I got the corn for Ms. Tilli, but I don't know when I'll see her next... I hope soon...
you know... I never actually sat down an thought of a familiar yet... I should talk to Fluer about that.... or Rose... or Iris.... well... not Iris... You know... I heard the Pseudodragon isn't too common.... or Hellhounds and Eyes, but those sound a little out there for me... I'm sure there's a whole list of bloody things I'll need to do.... I better just consult Steel...
*Grumbles something about "three bloody dragons in a lifetime."*

Well.... Things are looking up from here. The Academy in Hempstead has opened! I've signed on, and my studies of Abjuration shall be more intense. One Timulty, or Storold, shall oversee my learning in the matter...
The opening of the Academy was rather interesting.
*Idoran Grins*
and I was lucky that Zarianna, a suit "designer", was able to sell me a good suit in time. I almost missed the Ball... She's an interesting one, that Zarianna. Caught me off-guard a few times.
*Grins again*
I like that. Dancing is not my forte, but I'm glad I learned at a young age, else I'd trip over my feet.
*laughs*
Besides that, Deliar has graced me with my avoidance of the Soul Mother's grasp. more than three times that week. I am glad I started up this Copper caravan, else I would not be able to invest in new gear to guard from archers....
*Growls*
I really don't like fighting from afar, but it's a necessary evil I suppose.
I've also gotten ready to commit Oeri as a familiar. The little thing was keen on sticking with me, and I'm sure he understands the implications... he's smart for a winged lizard...
*rubs Oeri's snout with a fore-finger after a moments pause, then resumes his writing*
I suppose I should start looking for my Ox... I need to gather more Ore, and propose a business deal with a fellow at the bank...
