Question on Assassin class

I was wondering what the requirements for this were, I dont think it was explained too well in the place I saw you could become one.  Could you help clear up the requirements for me?

There is also a CDQ requirement, since this is a Prestige Class.

... They must kill another intelligent being for no other reason than pay.

Are these strict requirements? I'd always thought these rather limiting to what could be portrayed as an assassin. Also, the lack of morals/ethics seemed (to me) to preclude the [LORE]Lawful Evil[/LORE] alignment.

Note: You can be an assassin without having levels in the Assassin PrC (obviously).

Script Wrecked: I sort of think the class itself is pidgeon-holed, like you suggest, but being an "assassin" in the sense that you kill from the shadows for a payment of True, or goods, or "moral" satisfaction, or even bloodlust, is not beholden to such stringent requirements. I agree, though, the wording is funky when you compare it to the Lawful Evil alignment and consider that ostensibly there are (PrC) assassins out there that would be lawful evil.
