Arrest Warrants issued in Western Gate
« on: December 11, 2008, 08:48:51 AM »
Official Arrest warrants issued with the combined signatures of the High Justicer in the Rofirein Citadel in Western Gate and the city's mayor have been issued for the arrest of the notorious criminal G'ork.

*what follows is a description of the Half Orc as seen in Western Gate*

Anyone with information on the criminals whereabouts are advised to report it to their local authorities.

People are advised not to approach this person as he is considered extremely dangerous.

There is a 10,000 true reward issued for information that leads to the apprehension and extradition of the criminal to the Dragonsong Dominion.

*Idoran looks at the poster, lifting a brow at the mention of G'ork, and grumbles something. He pauses and blinks stupidly when a little one foot man scurries up to the poster, takes time to read it and let's out a little squeak of recognition*

"Eee! It's the bad man! I knew he was gonna eat someone!"

*Idoran blinks in disbelief as the little brownie flits off to the next attraction. He stands there for a while, trying to figure out what exactly he had just witnessed, then resumes looking over the poster.*

*A copper haired dwarven lass reads the poster, her eyes skipping along the words.*

"Oh!" *she exclaims, and then she makes a small smile to herself*

"Firrst one. Two morre to go."

*a well-dressed man in a tuxedo, feathered cap and horned hangman's-mask with red glowing eyes cackles madly at the postings, nearly splitting a stitch*

"TEN-THOUSAND?!  Bloody hells!  He's likely to gut the bounty commission for the insult alone!  No way, no how, I wouldn't touch him for any less than 200-thousand and a fistful of emeralds! And even then... HAHA!"

*waves a wary finger to those nearby and warns them*

"If ever you see this one, RUN.  Unless he motions that he wants to talk.  If he does, might as well stand and die there, making HIM run just makes him angry.  Only the most excruciatingly vile and prolonged tortures await those who would dare to thwart him.  Please do get your wills in order before you decide upon the hunt.  Oh!  and have a nICe DAy!"

*tips his hat and staggers down towards the bar for debauchery*

Official word is that the head of the aforementioned criminal has been delivered to Western Gate.

Authorities are arranging to confirm that the head delivered was in fact the criminal in question.

Discussions are being held to determine if the individual, Hardragh of Leringard, is to be paid the reward or whether he is to be arrested for interfering in the course of Justice by killing the supposed criminal without any official legal proceedings having been undertaken.

*grumbles at the notice*

Wonderful!  They ask him for help, and now consider arresting him for doing what they were so incapable of doing.  It's just like the state to kill you because you killed somebody before they could.  How about he enters that "not guilty" plea in the form of a skaldsong, eh?  Then we'll see the real killing begin!  Judge, jury, executioner, I suggest you invest in earplugs if you intend on scamming him out of his pay.  Earplugs and an undertaker.

Now we just need to wait for the next notice, where Hardragh decapitates the Justicer and Ami squashes Hardragh.

*As Brian looks at the notice he burst into laugher*

Right.. I smell a scam here, beside what is one death when one is bound? We will see him running again free. Beside.. we have all killed so many people, rightly or not.. shouldn't we all be put to trial?

That Half-Orc was wanted to be judged or questionned. Whatever he has done, he had a right for a trial, whether that lead to his condemnation or to his freedom. By killing him this man had denied Justice its right and committed a crime.

Ah, the right to slay in the name of justice?  Well my little friend, such a right is hardly god-given, it's universal.  Justice is the perspective of all persons from all walks of life... sometimes it comes in the form of a hundred starving deep gnomes executed in town square, or perhaps just lopping off a child's hand for stealing a loaf of bread.  Or perhaps it starts outside Hempstead where two people just standing there outside the city limits get spat upon and assaulted, and the guards are held up to be martyrs for their racist bouts of genocide, and failure to survive a fight that they started outside of their jurisdiction.

Yes, Justice.  The battle cry that is shouted by every dark elf invading army for perceived wrongs countless millenia ago, or those millions of commoners out there daily thinking upon regicide.  Your justice is another man's atrocity, and corruption.  For who polices the police?  Who judges the judge and who taxes the taxman?  It seems that every time a town guardsman snaps like a rabid wolf and butchers some poor child for having a wooden sword, or gallops over him with his horse in a drunken stupor, the entire incident just gets swept under the rug and denied by all those in law enforcement.  At most he gets a slap on the wrist followed by a weekend suspension WITH pay.  Is it just coincidence that judges, guardsmen and nobles rarely, if ever, serve prison time, or simply a perk of the office and title?

And aside from all of that, did it ever occur to you or any of them that when attempting to arrest a wanted murderer, that the potential for self-defense might arise should the suspect not come willingly?  Of course, were he slaughtered by guardsmen waving a royal banner, there would be no question of intent or further charges.  "oh, the guards can do no wrong!  They rightly defended themselves from a horrid murderer, and protected us!" they would say, and no matter how many innocent bystanders were hurt in the frenzy, they and the state they serve would deny responsibility for every single drop of blood on their hands.  Such is their way.

And, if they REALLY wanted to try him in court, why don't those holy rollers simply resurrect the head?  The rest of the body would grow back, surely, as that's how the spell has worked for the past 40,000 years, by Lucinda!  Obviously justice is the last thing on their minds.  I think that it is far more likely that yet again, the stingy, self-serving, self-righteous Lords of the State decided to yank the wool over our eyes and pocket the ten thousand true Hardragh earned for themselves.  Well they just made a major mistake.  Now everybody and their mother knows that even if you help the state, they will rob and punish you.  They will entrap you with the lure of easy gold just like any other villain, and lock you up in a cell simply for not saving them the killing blow.  Why aid the state then?  People will soon realize that the criminal element in their neighborhoods not only pay better, but at least the robbers and murderers keep their word too.  And offering an open bounty of 10,000 true for a violent armed and dangerous killer?  They contracted his murder, just as any thieves guild master would do in a blink.  Can you find a single person known to the suspect G'ork who would testify that he would ever come peacefully?

The right of Justice is thus, to serve the people or stand down.  Man should never fear his government, but the other way around.  Did it ever occur to any of them that in doing these acts, hunting G'ork and now Hardragh, that now they have infuriated the worst and best of the adventurers out there?  Now not only do they have to worry about G'ork's friends, but Hardragh's friends coming for them in the name of "Justice".   For the only true authority of the authoritarian is the right to kill, maim and destroy others.  It's why your fellow Rofirienites prefer the bastard sword, the largest and most brutal of one-handed weapons. (other than my acid caked orcish axe, of course) Notice that they do not brandish the dossier of legal briefings or the tablet of laws in battle, but the sword.  And the more these justice-seekers arm themselves and push the populace, the more each and every citizen will lay down their quill, sickle or saw, and reach for the sword to fight the law.  And they will rise against you and your kind, all in the name of "Justice".

What will Justice do when Justice knocks at its door?

*As Fehriel listens to the loony man he shakes his head*

That man was asks to removes his hood  by the guards in this very city, after Argali had told them who he was. Instead of complying he ran under invisibility. Doesn't that at least put a shrowd of doubt on his innocence?

If he wanted to come freely and clear his name in court, he would have simply taken his hood off and let himself be escorted where his version of events could have been taken down. But instead he prefered to run away instead of fighting for his name in the most logical way and one that could innocent him. But now his action put more doubt on his innocence and now apparently his ally turned on him to collect a meager bounty. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

You speak well about nothing loony guy. Maybe you should check your facts a bit more firstly.

*He keeps on listening to the others speak after his own words, making sure that the upper part of his face is covered from the general view.*

Yes, freedom is insanity.  All hail the hand that feeds and beats!  All lap and suckle at its fingers like nice little slaves and mewling lapdogs should!

Hooray for the status quo! Hooray for fealty!  Hooray for random hecklers who demand people be unmasked, then shield everything but their mouth when they are speaking!  Mister Irony, you have been crowned!

Don't look at his eyes, people... he is a medusa!

*at this point he just grumbles and walks off to the bar*

Bah!  Not only do they come to mock my public appearances, but now they even heckle my daily conversations with halfling knights idly standing beside a postboard.  Egads!  Bartender, a doubleshot of Willowhiskey, thanks!  Perhaps now he shall mock my sippy-noises.

None of the people closeby are looking at him as he asks that question, although a comment can be heard from far, far back in the crowded bar:

So much for his freedom speech! Or was it freedom OF speech?

There are some scattered laughter and many obviously felt the sudden desire to drink from their cups... or was it perhaps just to hide their grins?

Oops... previous post was edited before this one arrived!

*rather than respond, he simply waves them away to order a few more drinks and takes up a dark table in the corner of the bar.  There he vanishes invisibly, and begins to sketch each and every single person who mocked him that day on some parchment, follows a few of them home invisibly and takes notes of where they live*

*mad chuckles from the dark nearby a home in the peasants quarter, Farros invisibly leaves a domino on each of their doorsteps and returns to his home in Prantz to plot his revenge*

"Never did like Western Gate... hmmm, now only to decide what is most fitting.  Murder's a bit much, and not much a cause for violence; everybody likes a good joke after all.  But humiliation perhaps?  Maybe misfortune... oh which of my many curses to choose.  They will know the name Lord Domino when this is done..."  *rambles, flipping through parchment's in Czukay's house, planning, and drawing blueprints"

*Word is spread from Western Gate the official investigators of the Principium have discovered the true nature of the plan to discredit not only the Rofirein authorities in Western Gate but also the laws of the land as issued by the Dominus of the Dragonsong Dominion and also of the Mayoral authority of Western Gate.

As such the arrest warrants stand for one Gork and others have been issued for Hardragh of Leringard who has been revealed to have attempted to pervert the course of Justice, warrants have been issued with the intention to bring these supposed criminals to court to face their crimes.

Once again law abiding peaceful folk are advised not to approach these men as they are well known to be dangerous and violent individuals.

Regardless of rumour mongers constantly attempting to ridicule law and order the Rofirenites stand forth and reiterate their mission to protect innocents and restore peace and justice through law and order to the world.*

*As investigations proceed notice is sent forth to various places in the interests of finding G'ork.*

No matter how far you range, or deep you delve, how many people you discard in your attempts to escape Justice this is to serve notice that you G'ork, by revelation of your actions are leading others to believe more and more in your guilt.

You may have no conscience, nor moral conviction, nor honour to stand forth and present yourself but you should know this, the Compass serves us well for it will inevitably and unneringly serve to bring Justice to you, you will be found and you will stand trial for your misdeeds. If you are innocent the truth shall be revealed, no more need to die, no more need to be hurt.

Come forth and present yourself to any Rofireinite outpost, temple or even at the gates of Western Gate yourself and you will be treated with all courtesy until the outcome of your trial. Thus it will be by the wisdom of the Great Dragon that you shall be judged.

High Protector and Warden of the Principium of Western Gate,
Kethran Nomin

*G'ork looks over the notice, clenching a fist as he breathes heavily with anger*

Yous make it very clear from what yous say here: 'Treated with all courtesy, until the outcome of your trial'.

Yous already judged G'ork.
Lies already been spread.
No witness' beside those involved.
No evidence for either side.
Yous will believe yous church people over G'ork anyday.
No point G'ork going to trial that already weighed against hims.
