If this is a problem of only a few months of now, then it could be linked to
NWN version 1.69 and it's release.
But shutting down NWN and restarting it can surely do the trick.
I myself use XNWNConnect to start the game and connect to the servers.
It's a nice little program by some french guy, that uses NWN's startup commandline to launch a connection to a server.
Meaning, you don't even have to start the game, it goes to the Connect To GameSpy screen at first, there you just enter your password (unless you have it saved on it), and then connect to Layo, voila.
Once exiting the game via any means, the game returns you to your desktop.
So if you have both West and Central saved onto it, and hop from server to the other, you end up on your desktop, click on the correct server's name and then click Connect, and then you're back on the horse.
