Ship ownership

What if someone wanted to buy/build a ship? I know it would be near impossible to get one in game. How would some one get one to be able to RP it? Would it have to be a CDQ? The reason I ask is that my character Snezle Lempkin is a sailor and wants to buy/build his own ship. Once he gets his own ship he would like to use it for future CDQs.

This has been done. It would need one or more (probably more, heh) CDQs. Building one would take a host of materials, as well...

I know of at least one case where during a CDQ a character contracted with one of the ship captains in Hempstead to use their ship on occasion for secret missions.  It cost a lot of true and could only be used in conjunction with future CDQs but that was the arrangement I believe.

In all cases but one that I can recall, any ships owned or at the disposal of PCs (or groups/guilds) have been RP-only things and established through CDQ and or regular quest results.  They were available for use in quest situations, but no one gets a private ship to take where they would like as a mechanical, in-game thing.

The one "exception" are the boat routes established to and from Stort on Alibor, which was still the result of CDQs and lots of effort on behalf of the Raven guild, but even so, the mechanical benefit to these routes are open and available to all, so the Raven guild does not have its own private network of ships for their use alone.

Perfect that is exactly what I expected. Thanks
