Ranger's Valor/Aid

LORE says it provides +1 to attack, +1 to fear, 1d8 HP. However, effects are doubled essentially for those with deities that are friendly/allied/same with caster. Does this mean that if the caster has the deity field filled in, they will get double the effects since it would fall into the same category?

Earl's did at least.  Every time he cast it on himself he got a sweet +2 bonus

Allied gods to Earl's Prunilla got the same uber effect, while friendly-neutral it startles to dwidnle a bit.

Unfriendly or worse don't get any bonus, much like a bless spell.  If you have no god, think it will always do a standard +1 and not higher, but the bonus is that you can cast it on anybody.  A faithless ranger would have to cast it on himself to see if they get +2 or +1.

So it looks like this spell was modified slightly for Layonara? It this the intended affects of the spell- to reward Rangers that follow a deity?

Tane has nothing in his deity field, and he get's the standard +1 when cast on himself.

I could certainly see this for a cleric, in fact, I don't think you can have a faithless cleric, but it surprises me for a ranger.

Indeed.  Faithless are considered neutral to people of all faiths, including themselves.  The negative is that you never get that sweet +2 bonus.  The positive is that you can cast the +1 version on everybody, regardless of religion.
