Civ III cost me untold nights without sleep..
I don't think I dare get it.
I keep telling myself that.

Thank goodness I have little to no budget for new addicting games. I've too much free time to be buying that one.

The only reason I do not have Civ IV right now is because I know I very well might break if I do as I have so little time right now and based on past experiences with Civ once I install it then I rarely do much else for quite a large period of time.

never played civi III though, but I remember the first game, heh genious at that time, and the second wasn't bad either. Loved the graphics in both of them.

Civ 3 was great, although I don't think I ever actually finished a whole game. I don't have a very long attention span....

I just bought this game about 4 days ago. Other than work, I have done nothing else. Honestly, for a sim game to take away 4 consecutive days of my life is really something. The graphics are top notch and the soundtrack is one eclectic epic mix of cultural woldbeat and rennaissance goodness. I have it loaded in winamp right now, all 8 hours and 76 tracks of it! I absolutely love the way they did diplomacy in this one, and the UN voting system helps each civilization have the opportunity to mold the world in their own image.
Usually I play peacefully as Ghandi from India, trying to get elected world leader and begging the other nations to stop fighting eachother and adopt environmentalism and pacifism. It's actually MUCH harder to do that than to simply invade everyone for resources. Then I try to found Hindu, Buddhism and Taoism and spread missionaries across the world to enlighten the masses.
It's funny on the flip side too. As Khan, I took over the UN and forced everybody to adopt despotism, barbarism, slavery, communism and paganism. Everybody voted against me only once... so I invaded the least popular opponent and held the vote again. A few less people voted against it... rinse, cycle, repeat. Soon it was just me and Mao Zedong left, and we got along fine.
