Yews...its a shrub... in layonara its the holy grail for wood workers... I surfed google and found this.... It may change every thing but this info on yew must be known.

I have done 2 years of nursery work they are shubs they grow into trees after like 100 years of growing wild.
ever hear of tree form Peegee or tree roses?

Not a shrub???...tell that to my wife, who dug out about 7 yew stumps from our yard in our effort to banish the horrid landscaping from the previous owners of our home.
In seriousness....I think there are multiple kinds of Yew....some more ornamental than others.
Edit: An interesting article on Yew's toxicity...also acknowledging its frequent use as a shrub...
