Favored Enemy for Ogres (Daylight Adjustment not a bug)
    « on: August 21, 2005, 12:01:00 pm »
Kain just recently leveled to level 5 (he was Ranger 4 beforehand), and I was deciding whether to take another rank in Ranger or start Rogue (ended up taking 1 Rogue).

Just to see, I took Ranger, and I was able to take an extra feat, either another Favored Enemy or this Daylight Adjustment thing that, according to the description, is supposed to only be for Dwarfs, Drow or Gnomes (something like that). Kain is human, so it might be strange to have this feat show up there.

On another note, Kain took Favored Enemy in Giants at lvl 1 but I don't get the +1 attack bonus against Ogres. Are Ogres considered "Giants"?

No, Ogres are Ogres, and Giants are Giants ... completly different.

I believe there is a favored enemy for Ogres, if not, I guess it would be humanoid?

It's available to both sun and standard dwarves as well.

I didn't see an FE for Ogres, otherwise I would have picked it. I figured it was either Giants, Monstrous Humanoids, Humanoids or Beasts...

EDIT: Just checked the toolset, Ogres are indeed under GIANTS, so my dual wielding ranger with a BAB of +6 and +6 offhand should get +7 and +7 offhand when fighting ogres, but this does not occur.

EDIT2: Sorry, what I meant by the above is that I don't think the bonus gets added in the combat window... Can someone confirm that FE is working?

it doesnt acctually change your character sheet depending on what you're fighting.  But if you watch the combat messages in ther server window the extra AB and damage (i think) get added in.

It's because we couldn't code itĀ for Layo subracesĀ I think, so it'd be for all or for none. So we just put in the description that it's for the underdark races, as only those would benefit from it and leave it up to the players to be so smart not to take it if they're not an underdark race :)
