blonde - 10/7/2005 4:23 PM I just threw what i had of those rings and amulets on my ox for updating, and my exceptional silver sapphire amulet didnt change, but the rings did.
What does putting items on one's ox do in this case?

The ox only stores item blueprints, so when you put something onto an ox, it gets converted into a blueprint before being stored in the database.  When you pull the item off the ox, it's converted from the blueprint back into an actual item.  In the case of items that are updated like this, it basically recreates the item to the new specifications.
Incidentally, this is the reason why enchanted items (weapons/armor/etc) cannot be put on an ox, because while the item itself is preserved, the enchantment is stripped.

I see.  So as a player, how do I know which items to put on the ox for updating and when?  Can there be a statement issued after an update informing the players to do this sort of thing with an updated item?

Items aren't updated too often, but if they are, such updates are generally announced here.

Just a quick update, folks....several small things and one big thing:
All servers: - New quest areas (mixafix and Vyris) - Fixed incorrect pricing on a few furniture deeds - Grand Piano furniture deed should now work properly - Added/Updated about 9 NPCs/creatures (Ice, mixafix, Milo, Vyris) - Removed Invisibility effect from Greater Sanctuary
West updates: - Crimson Shield Guild Hall has been added - Moved skunk in Lake Alon area to keep it from slaughtering the poor otter nearby - Fixed area transition at the Spellgard Tower of High Arcana
Central updates: - Updated portrait for Healer of Kitharien - Updated name for Healer of Az'atta
Alright...so much for the little stuff.  Now for the big thing.

King Waylend of Pranzis announces:
NEW HOMES AVAILABLE NEAR PRANZIS IN THE SUBURBAN HAFT LAKE DISTRICT

That's right! Forty (40) new player character houses have been added to Central. Be sure to thank Leanthar for rolling up his sleeves and lovingly building each and every house from spare lumber.  So come, browse the neighborhood, bring your gold and experience the joys of home ownership on beautiful Dregar.
Credit and thanks for this update goes to Leanthar, IceDragon, mixafix, Milo and Vyris for their contributions. And if I've inadvertently left someone out, thanks to you as well.

Leanthar, thank you so much for creating and continuing to maintain and improve such a wonderful world for the rest of us to enjoy.  It is so awesome to be a part of this world.  As a member of the Crimson Shield Guild, I would like to say to everyone that when Leanthar says that we, the players, shape the world, he means it, literally.  To see the results makes this even more enjoyable.....so stay active and make a difference!

This is nothing huge, but enough to note.
Once again, many thanks go out to those who contributed to this update.  If I left anyone out, just chalk it up to my old age and not any malice whatsoever.  Thanks go to Aragon, Harlas, Leanthar, IceDragonDuvessa, Tobias, Talan, Rhizome, Pankoki and Stormspirit.

Outstanding updates!

Edit: Ah, after some playing time, the traveling salesman is pretty cool and the portals (and changes to the current ones) are great. Thanks to all.
