Dragging

Got to thinking a bit about what happens to us after we die and began to wonder if there wasn't a way that we could allow for dragging. Once you fall, instead of respawning thru the bindstone, you could choose wait for help and those in your party could drag you to a safer place to leave your stone or to a place where you know a cleric could be summoned to raise you. Many years ago I played for a while in a really bad MUD that had a system like this in place and clerics who could resurect often spent time RP'ing in the town square a sort of hospital.  A simple strength check against the person's weight is all that would be needed, every round or so. Just a thought. Redhawk

For some reason, I just got the mental image of a half-dozen halflings straining to drag a half-giant back to town...

Would be neat, if it made the dragger automaticly "walking slowly".

Kind of useful, especially in the no-magic zones. I mean, it's silly that no one's able to move the dead person to let the cleric ressurect he or she at the outside. ;)

There was somthing like this on another server I played on. It created a corpse (item) when you died and a PC could pick it up and carry it elseware. It did add a ton of weight so it was very much like dragging.
Also wasn't smart to barter the corpse- it then got buggy. :)
I liked it as it added to a lot of interesting RP with PC's standing around with their comrades body in town and waiting for a healer. It also had some abuse problems though too.

If it could be done, it would have to be done in such a way that there would be a real possibility that you are too heavy to be dragged.  Just to make it interesting   and I would imagine cut down on some of the abuse.

i remember another server with somthing like that except that the dead person would leave a corpse tied to the owner; an invintory item
so that they could take the person to a cleric (heh for some reason the bodies were allowed to be cooked into food on a campfire there?!?!)

I've seen a dragging system on another server, basicly you had a wand you could use on any dead PC and then drag 'em to the temple, and pay a huge sum for the rez. :)

Most characters post a weight with their height.  I wonder if there is a way to run a script to add that weight to whatever corpse is left?  Then the encumbrance system would work as normal so you'd moving super slow with the additional weight, unless you were a half-giant.

      Ugh, dragging Mikey.  *visualizes hernias*

Of course, the best answer is to drag a cleric with you out into the field in the first place so you're not stuck with having to drag the bodies back to town.  Unless of course, it's the Cleric you have to drag back.

      ... or unless you happen to die in a no-magic (i.e. no-ressurect/raise dead-spell) zone. :(
