Dueling Swords

Since my new character has plans of becoming a duelist, as well as making good use of the parry skill, I think it would be interesting to see some special 'dueling swords' to raise the parry skill.

I was thinking that Dueling Rapiers could be made, since rapiers seem like the natural choice. Here is what I think the ingrediants would be:

6 ingots of the type of metal (copper, bronze, iron, adamantium, mithril)
1 large weapon mold
3 essences of grace

The result would be a rapier exactly the same as the standard rapier for the type of metal, only it would also confer a parry bonus dependant on the metal:
Copper +1, Bronze +2, Iron +3, Adamantium +4, Mithral +5

Anyway, just my idea. Feel free to pick it apart and such.... I'm sure you'd do it anyway :)

Yeah, that would be cool. Or maybe have a special enchantment rod for permanent parry bonus, and you could add potions of cat's grace or something to add temporary parry skills.

Acctually, any of the CNR "clothes" that give a parry bonus are either leather armors or padded armors... so, duelists wouldn't be able to use them and still get their bonus'

The only CNR gloves that boost parry are gloves of fury that have a +1 (or 2 on exceptionals.)

Simple request.

Good ingredients.

Only a few items needed to be made.

It's a possible addition. Content team would have to do it of course, so they have final say. But I don't see it being that big of a problem.

Copper Rapier of Grace
Bronze Rapier of Grace

So on and so forth.

Or Copper Graceful Rapier.

Anyway.. name doesn't matter I guess.

Might as well bring it to the Project Team now Talan, so at least we have a record and we don't forget.

Aryn, actually we should wash this through the Project Team simply so that we have some more discussion for the sake of balance and such.  Maybe it's a formality, but it's probably a good idea.  We also need to create the recipes if these are to be craftable.
I'm PMing you my e-mail so you can send what you have, and I'll post it for Project Team review once we start the discussion there.

The ones I have are leftover from many months ago. I know there is a protocol for things to get put in. I just figured I would send them in and then you can all do whatever you want with them.

If this comes into being, might I suggest that it NOT incorporate essence of grace or Cat's grace potions/stones.  Way too over used already in my opinion.  Instead how about essences of speed, knowledge and cunning ?

I thought grace would work best, since dueling involves more grace than any of the other essences. Speed could work, although I still think that grace is the best bet for a dueling sword.

You can be as graceful as you want but if you lack the knowledge and intelligence to anticipate your foe's moves and the speed to counter them , you're sunk.

Aye, it's the mental attributes that matter most in fencing... Intelligence, for strategy; Wisdom, for actually seeing your opponent's movements, and interperating his bluffs; Charisma, for making your own feints, among other things.

[orange]What about the white tight costume? That has got to be a factor in the whole process. Or the mesh mask? Pretty sure that is a factor as well.

Nay the most important part in it is to have the right stunt double.
