    Underground dwarven housing?
    « on: August 07, 2005, 11:29:00 pm »
This may already exist for all I know, but I thought I'd ask just in case. I think it would be neat to have cave housing for dwarves and other races that wish to live underground. My idea is to have a cave entrance that opens into a large cavern. The "houses" are suites of cavern rooms set into the walls of the large cave, which more expensive housing available as stone buildings on the floor. To go a little further, you could even have some forges and anvils in the middle of the large cave so that a dwarven mining and crafting settlement could be formed by the players.

I know the content team is busy with tons of stuff already, but I thought I'd let the idea roll around a bit and see what people think. I've noticed a lot more dwarves around Hlint lately, so I'm sure this kind of housing would be well appreciated.

    Thanks!

Actually, Victor and Mettew were just talking about a Dwarven Settlement in the low lands. Maybe we should all get together at Turor's meeting and bring this up? A Dwarven town would be wonderful. The Iron Drake would so move there. And we'd have to be in a snowy place. Maybe we Dwarves could take over Shoufal?

Lar and Shoufal are dwarven towns... there is just no houseing there. You might also look to get houses put into the dwarven fotress, if i was a dwarf id want to live there.

    Yup.

And i very much doubt that the Ulgrids (if thats who you meant not the stonesmashers)  or any dwarven fortress for that matter is very keen on selling housing inside the fortress to adventurers.  Having ties and thus housing to such a clan is likely the realm of the CDQ.

I'd definately be in favour for putting as many dwarves under the ground as possible.

More fresh air for the rest of us. :P

Dwarves live in or near mountains.
Brownies live in the branches of trees away from the predators that hunt noght and day on the ground below. Not uncommon for them to be near where gnomes or elves live, as these races compliment each other.
Gnomes tend to live within the roots of great oaks or in a hollow tree. Usually very close to the oak of a druid. Rangers vale comes to mind, but there is only two residences there. Harmony Grove would be another, but I have only ever seen one, and its a house.(must be blind if there is more)
Much of the residences offered, are human specific residences.
Elves living as long as they do, sculpt the plant life so that they may build their communities within the trees great branches. High Elves tend to build much like the greeks and romans, grey elves in the mountain peaks, sylvan in the trees, and grugach(do not know where they like to live, as they tend to be more xenophobic than the grey)
