Author Topic: Naming rings and items (ungracious and unrepenting begging of goodwill)  (Read 412 times)

I readily admit this is a luxery request, but I would love for it to be implemented.

At the moment we can name weapons, bags and furniture with the quill (more?), would it be possible to extend that functionality to include jewelry, armour, shields, helmets and accessories?

Its purely roleplay, but Galathea has named all her rings (being a priestess of Beryl) and I would love to be able to use the quill to rename them in game. The same would go for her armour etc..

That way, when she makes a ring or gifts one, she can inscribe its name and maker in it thus leaving her mark on the world.

to quote Monkey Island: Pretty please with sugar on the top....

I actually complained to orth about this in IRC one day and I recall him saying it involves cycling the pallette's to mark which items could and could not be inscribed like the weapons can. This was due to the fact that not everything should be allowed to be renamed due to lore reasons. So in essence, it's not worth the amount of work it involves, at least not at this point.

I'm sure he'll explain it in more detail once he gets a chance.

I asked about this a couple years ago, and was told that the team also didn't want to give people the ability to name a greenstone set in copper "ring of Owl's wisdom III" (or whatever an item happens to be) to sell to unsuspecting new players.
