That is the only good reason I have heard. Another mentioned before regarding elements in general is the attempt to focus them on Grannoch, but in this he focuses on only one property of the element (destruction) rather than all of its associations as Grannoch would, and is only a single element like some others.
Grannoch's only actual competition is silly Katia, so if it were more of a ...spitting... contest as Ycleption thought, it would make a little more sense and actually be something to strive for IC. I hadn't heard that possible explanation, but it is more plausible than most. I do think that while it is the best one I've heard, it is still only retro-actively explaining why (more likely) an oversight occurred, and in most cases it's just as easy to add it on.
Otherwise though, fire is long overdue for Pyrtechon! I could lose any other domain but [strike]strength[/strike]destruction in trade and he'd still be better represented... not that losing another wouldn't have a sad goodbye, but although they FIT, it is not as well as fire.
I think that if it is not granted, the explanation offered by ycleption is a good reason to hate on an enemy and try to steal the gift of fire and all that
