Layonara Server / Please welcome Tobias to the GM Team!« on: June 24, 2019, 05:34:21 pm »
Were pleased to announce we've selected Tobias to help us out with some GM duties. He's shown a strong ability to coordinate player events, helped me out with many things in the transfer to EE, contributed to module development and has experience with the DM client and DMing on Layonara. Tobias will start out getting re-acquainted with the tools doing some small flavour and impromptu things then we hope he will soon be able to start contributing to quests. Please welcome him back!

Introduce Yourself / Greetings folks, hope to see you in game :)« on: June 24, 2019, 12:01:58 pm »
Hail one and all.
Im 32 year old guy from Finland. I was introduced to roleplaying at age of 10 and been in love with it ever since. It started out with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game, and Dungeons and Dragons games. I did quick trips to couple other fantasy settings and even to cyberpunk ones too. I was pretty casual player in a way that I didnt look out for huge amount of lore to back my stories etc, though recently its been growing interest for me. Roleplay that is interesting for me is mostly intriquing stories and goofy stuff. I do enjoy serious roleplay too but often I try to cheer it up a bit. Bought Neverwinter Nights when it was released and been playing it ever since, taking couple year hiatus at one point though. My chars are usually weak mechanically. But I will try to make up for it with other stuff, eather with talkativeness or skill vice. My forte is playing evil characters though every aligment is possible. Dont be afraid to treat my chars any way you want. I dont take stuff personally, ofcoarse it would be preferred that out of character we could chat nice stuff if our characters are not getting along. -Best regards JollyJumper The following users thanked this post: Leanthar

General Discussion / NWPAD Details! (New Players Look Here!)« on: August 31, 2017, 02:06:03 pm »Hello to the World!
Layonara has a long and rich history, as we have been up and going nearly since NWN went live! We are a quiet little community these days but we’re happy to have you here! If you are here to collect the token, you’ll find it not far from the spawn point for new characters. We do hope you’ll stay and check us out! Some important details if you hang out with us: First, we have our own set of custom HAKs. These can be downloaded here: (http://layonara.com/nwn/nwn-downloads). There is also a custom TLK file available from the same page. This needs to be placed in the “tlk” folder within your NWN installation. Instructions on where to place these files are located on the same page. Second, we will only be running our events until the 16th of July, at 7am Pacific/9am Central/10am Eastern/3pm BST/10pm China Standard Time/(July 17th)12amAEST. Also, we are normally password-guarded to help keep our immersion intact, as we are a Roleplay server. We’ve suspended our usual level of immersion for the event, because there is A LOT of lore to read over and we’d rather you just jump in and hang out with us, to be completely honest! If you like us, do feel free to read up and stick around! What does our suspension mean? Here’s the breakdown:
Thanks for reading all of this! Our temporary password for play is: nwpad Looking forward to seeing you on the server!! ~The Team at Layonara The following users thanked this post: Leanthar

Layonara Server / Neverwinter Nights Player Appreciation Event« on: August 31, 2017, 02:06:40 pm »Greetings all!Now that the dates are final for the Neverwinter Nights Player Appreciation Days (hereafter NWPAD), we are planning the server’s participation as well! Yay!The event itself runs from July 10th to July 25th. We encourage you guys to go check out the other participating servers. They have some neat little prizes and things you can do (for funsies of course!). I believe there’s going to be some postings (probably linked to from here) to tell you about all the places you can go. Layonara will be hosting a 7-ish day event during that time period when folks from other places can come check us out. This is how that’s going to work:
We are going to try to run some non-canon events during this time. Right now that’s not nailed down due to the time frame not having been sorted out until just recently. We would also love it if people would coordinate their own player events and post them on the calendar so folks can plan when they might want to jump in and play here. If you can hurry and get them on the calendar we will link to them on our post to the public when that goes up! We hope everyone has fun! If you have any helpful suggestions for the event or questions about our part in it, please feel free to post below! Thanks! ~row The following users thanked this post: Leanthar

Rumour Has It / Swampy Rumors and Ill situations...« on: July 13, 2016, 12:06:34 am »
An opened letter is brought to the Regent of Hurm and delivered with trembling fingers. The Regent’s aging features twist in annoyance at the interruption. He snatches the letter off of the tray and glares at the servant then turns to read the note. His eyes trace over the words, then reads over a second time as his face turns red. He crumbles the note in his hand and throws it at the servant.
“GET ME MY GENERAL!” He rages at the servant, who only too happily flees the room. ----------------------------The Council in Leringard is brought to into regular session at their “secret” location. Business is conducted as usual, though they address a recent letter. C1: “Well I for one don’t believe it. Surely it’s a joke...”C2: “I do not believe we can take such warnings as a joke, Sir.”C1: “*Laughs* But it is a joke, is it not?”C3: “I concur, I can’t believe anyone could be serious about such a warning. The Black Plague indeed.”C4: “Gentlemen, I believe that we should give an ear to such a warning. No action is necessary until proof is given, but what harm is a little preparedness?”C1: “Is that your mystical wisdom, witch?” C2: “Now that’s uncalled for. Besides, her words are wise, regardless of your opinion of her Goddess.”C1: “*snorts lightly*”C3: “Perhaps we shall adjourn and take this information under advisement.” -------------------------------------Reus is brought a stack of letters and reports and goes through them one at a time. At one he pauses and sighs heavily. He goes over the wording a few times and then sets the letter down. “Wonderful,” he mutters to himself, “As if this city isn’t blighted enough.” The following users thanked this post: Leanthar

Ancients Legacy / More upheavals "up there"« on: July 09, 2015, 08:36:18 am »
Though somewhat known for its variability, the group of stars known as Giantess' Supremacy has made a rather unsuspected change. Unlike other movements in the skies quite some time ago, the constellation representing Grannoch in the heavens simply appeared in a new location come nightfall. The original hexagonally-shaped conjunction that formed several years ago remains intact, but Grannoch's constellation now joins them, taking up position outside the grouping and situated near to those pertaining to Prunilla and Deliar. And while too the colors of Giantess' Supremacy are known to shift with the seasons, the individual stars are now observed to be yellow, blue, white or red, with no two observers seeming to agree on which of the fifteen stars in the grouping shine with a given color.

Introduce Yourself / Hello!« on: June 27, 2015, 06:16:47 pm »
Hi everyone!
Thought I would introduce myself. I'm Edd and I've been a long time fan of Neverwinter Nights. I've played it on and off over the years and just came across Layonara online. I'm fairly new to roleplaying and hope you guys would be patient with me as I'm learning the ropes. I'm trying to get a few of my mates interested in playing Layonara online so we can play together. It's a shame it's not more of a popular server! The impression I get here is a high quality and fun server, the crafting system sounds fun too! I'm going to have a think about my character and what sort of story and background s/he should have. Plus, I'll do some reading around the lore and look at some of the maps to try and get them to fit in somehow. So, Hi everyone! It's nice to meet you all! Forum Discussion / Forums/Web Site Moving« on: April 11, 2015, 03:14:32 pm »
Good afternoon folks,Just giving you the heads up that I'll be moving the forums to another server some time this weekend. I will have to take down the old server temporarily for about a half hour or so to transfer the latest db over to the new server. Once this is done the web site will be running concurrently on the old server and the new server while the DNS propagates over. If your DNS is slow to update then you will probably see a bit of a performance loss as you connect to the old web server which is interacting with the db on the new server. The new web server is faster and you'll notice a speed increase while browsing the site and forums. To summarize, you don't have to do anything, but you may experience some latency until your ISP recognizes the DNS change. At the most this should be 48 hours but in general folks should be fine very shortly afterwards.-orth

Layonara Server / Coming Soon! Saved Spellbooks« on: March 15, 2015, 10:22:16 pm »
Are you tired of constantly rearranging your spellbook depending on where you're heading or who you're with? Well I'm please to introduce a new system that saves your spellbooks to the db which you can restore at any time. Here's how it works:Get your spellbook all prepared and then use the =c sb save command and specify a name for your spellbook, for example =c sb save defaultNow say for example Plen is going to craft a bunch of raise dead scrolls so he replaces all his spells at Level 5 and Level 9 with Raise Dead (he uses Quickened Raise Dead spells so he can craft more at once). Once he's done he can restore his spellbook with =c sb restore default and all the spells he had set up before are replaced once again. Note: When using this system all spells are restored as used up, so it's best to do this right before resting. Now Plen realizes that it would make sense to actually set up a spellbook for crafting Raise Dead scrolls, so before I craft my scrolls I'll set up a spellbook for that with =c sb save craftraisedead that way before he crafts Raise Dead scrolls again he can just use =c sb restore craftraisedeadNext time Plen is out with a group of people he may want to save his spellbook once it's all set up, he may have many depending on how many people are with him or perhaps his planned role (healing/defensive/offensive). So he might do =c sb save partyof5 once he's all prepared, then he can restore that again later in the future when he's with close to or the same sized party.Other associated commands:

Layonara Server / The NWN server is going to be moved again« on: February 26, 2015, 09:12:38 am »
Hello all,As you know we've been running our server for the past 2 months on a new host and while for the most part it has been acceptable there have been issues with random "blue screen of deaths" killing the entire server as well as intermittent lag spikes. While trying to debug these I started considering another server where I could get an equally good deal and came across one that was Linux though. I wondered to myself how difficult and how capable our current world would be to run on Linux especially with our NWNX plugins. So I tested it locally and fixed a few bugs here and there and things seemed okay. At that point I wondered if there were any new NWNX plugins for Linux that I could tap into to help the world. This is when I really got excited and started greatly considering we'd move from Windows to Linux. There are many plugins that are now available that can enhance our world. This is how and why I was able to introduce the Dynamic Names system. Some of the other plugins give us functionality for many other ideas we've always been limited by the capabilities of what Bioware gave us. Not only that, there are performance improvements that these plugins provide to help the world run smoother and faster with less lag.I hope you understand that this move shouldn't be much of a blip on the radar and should hopefully lead to a smoother world with some exciting new features coming as well. Here's a taste of some of these new features:

Layonara Server / Coming Soon! Dynamic Names« on: February 08, 2015, 05:57:10 pm »
I wanted to give the community a heads up on the new system that will hopefully be arriving in the next update. We are going to be introducing dynamic names to the world. What are dynamic names? Well now whenever you don't know a character all you will see above them or when they talk and other events is "Someone". It will be up the characters to introduce themselves to others or for your character to dub that character with a name.Associated commands will be:

Layonara Server / Sending Bird Messages from the Web Site Is Back!« on: January 08, 2015, 03:57:54 pm »
For those of you who have associated characters through the web interface, you can now send bird messages to players in game. The system is a bit simplistic to start but it serves its purpose.Simply click on the On Neverwinter Nights menu at the top and select Send Bird Message. You'll then be presented with a dropdown list of all your associated characters and also autocomplete text boxes for each character you wish to send your message to. Each message costs 25 True per recipient. There's nothing quite like receiving a bird message so I encourage you to use the system to send messages to friends in game! If you need any help with anything associated with the system or linking your web account with your NWN Characters feel free to ask.

Layonara Server / Version 3.31.3 is Online!« on: August 10, 2014, 08:38:24 pm »Version 3.31.3 is online! This is primarily a minor bug-fix with a couple of area updates, so it's pretty small and limited. Even so, it bears documentation. As mentioned earlier, there is an updated TLK file required for this update. Download layonara_v28.tlk (contained in layonara_v28.rar) here: http://layonara.com/nwn/nwn-downloads Fixes:
Area updates:
Other updates:
Regarding the adjustments for Champion, all that has happened in this update are name and text changes, removing nearly every reference to Champion or Unholy Champion of a given deity and referencing solely “Divine Champion” or “Unholy Champion”. The custom Champion classes that we created have been renamed in such a way to a) encourage player action and b) discourage taking those classes on level-up between now and the next update. Any players with characters that have Champion levels for some deity other than Toran or Corath must contact a GM to be de-leveled/re-leveled in order to remove all “Champion of X” (or “Unholy Champion of X”) levels so that they can be replaced with “Divine Champion” (or “Unholy Champion”) levels. Please do this as soon as possible. If anyone still has levels in the non-standard classes by the time version 3.31.4 is released, these characters may be considered illegal by the game server. Enjoy! The following users thanked this post: Leanthar
