Ask A Gamemaster / In game description.
« on: March 12, 2012, 03:49:14 pm »
I neglected giving Millon a description on creation, and would like to have one added to him in game. I asked around a bit, and was told I can do this once, lacking a CDQ or other reason for a change.

Wondering as to the process to get this done.

« on: March 06, 2012, 11:36:38 am »
Played a bit this morning, the shop in Hempstead fields (player run) was empty..Center was missing the new shrine, and Honeybees chests.

Guessing its a server dealy, how long does this typically last? (Till a reset or something)

Ask A Gamemaster / Skin Change request?
« on: March 02, 2012, 05:15:18 pm »
Apologies if this is not the correct place to post this. (Big place!)

I had some graphics trouble getting started, and now that they are resolved it seems that my character Millon Grail, ended up with a dark grey skin. I was having issues with skins looking silver. Not sure if I clicked the wrong button on creation, or what.

If possible, could someone change his skin to a nice human color (Maybe a little tan, as he was a farmer)? I thought it may be lingering graphic issues, but I see everyone else with normal colored skin.

Development Journals and Discussion / Millon Grail - Following Illin
« on: February 29, 2012, 04:15:01 pm »
Well, I must say that my first adventure was nothing like the ones detailed in great grandpa Illin’s journal. But, It was an adventure none the less. Shortly after arriving on Mistone, and drinking a little too heavily in celebration of a safe voyage, and adventures ahead, I woke in the small town of Center, with little memory of how I got there from the port district of fort Vehl. Aside from a little disorientation, and memory of a dream where I was running through shadows, I was fine, and shrugged the lost memory off as a result of not heeding my parents warnings about the dangers of strong drink.

Eager to get started along my chosen path of following Illin’s footsteps, I set about exploring the town. In an inn called the ‘Bulls eye’ I met the town’s undertaker, who asked me if I could find his lost lantern down in the crypts. Although searching for lost knick-nacks isn’t really what one would term as an adventure, I agreed, as he was offering payment, and my coin purse was getting light. I also found my way into a crafting hall, where the lady that ran the place offered payment for clearing some bugs out of the basement. Again…Not really adventurer work, but payment was offered, and I agreed to see what I could do. She directed me to a trap door in a back room, and I decided to take a look.

There were rats down there, and big beetles with pinchers that would cut right through the leather of my boots. My confidence quickly wore off as bite after bite tore my legs to shreds. I managed to work my way through the first few areas down there and found a passage leading deeper. Big basement! After descending, I was set upon by some sort of Ooze, which I sliced to pieces…Unfortunately right after it quit moving, a large group of those beetles surrounded me, and had their way. I was overwhelmed, and fell, bleeding and minus consciousness. Luckily I woke, and was able to flee back up to the storeroom, where I collapsed in a corner. I had contracted some sickness from one critter or another down there, and could do nothing else but curl up and sleep.

Fixed Bugs / "Front Line" weapon dealer in Center
« on: February 27, 2012, 05:12:18 pm »
Hi guys.

Been having an issue with opening this store screen. It has been crashing my client, although throughout all of center this is the only merchant that this happens with.

I first thought it was an install problem, but after having spent two days trying to resolve the problem, I did notice one detail I had missed that might be part of the cause....maybe.

He is the only merchant that crashes my client, and he is also the only merchant that I had tried intimidating for a better price...I notice that the timer never really resets, but goes into negative numbers...such as "This merchant will continue to offer you prices for -1250 minutes"...Number keeps getting bigger....Wondering if someone could check for a loop that might be running here, breaking the merchant for me.

Thanks for your time!

Introduce Yourself / Hello Layonara!
« on: February 25, 2012, 06:18:23 pm »
Hi guys!

Last time I visited Layonara was back around 04-05. I remember it being one of the funnest times Ive had roll-playing ever. Real life conspired against me as I awaited the start of my L-10 CDQ and took me away from the game. Recently I found you guys on Facebook, and the memories of fun found their way back, So I went and dug through the boxes in the very bottom back part of my closet, and pulled out (And blew the dust off) my old copy of NWN. Currently downloading the hak packs and looking forward to re-visiting the place.

I dont consider myself a roll-playing great, however...After playing with real greats, 'rp' games are just plain missing something without rp'ing players. I stay in character, and try to flesh out a story for myself, but find the most fun to be experiencing my fellow players stories as a companion adventuring along side them.

I will be submitting a character shortly, but would like to have him be a descendant of my original, and would like for someone to fill me in on how much in game time has passed since I last played. Lets see...Major events at the time were the discovery of the elven library under the sea, and the dark-elf invasion of Hlint. Pretty sure ol' Illin was one of the first to be branded with one of those tattoos the Dark-elves were forcing on folk back then.

Anyways...looks like Im getting long of word...Looking forward to getting back!

Thinking of buying nwn2, Any plans to move layo over? (I know its a giant undertaking) but whats the point of getting part 2 if theres no layo? (Im sure 90% of the time Ive invested in part one was here)

« on: April 02, 2006, 04:44:39 am »
Hello everybody! I havent visited layo in a year and a month (got married, got a house, got a new (better) job....IRL) All the folk Illin used to adventure with (his peers) are on the ECDQ page (Illins still 9th level, he went back to the farm for a while) What Id like to know is how much time has passed in layo?

Well, to begin, Let me say hello friend. I, your author, Am called Illin Grael. I am unsure of my birth name as I am an adoptee, yet, unlike many in the same situation, It troubles me not. I come from a simple, and uneventful past. Raised on a farm by my adopted parents, the most exciting thing that happened in my life prior to the dream, was the day I milked 42 cows, beating my fathers record of 39, and, finally shutting him up about it. One day I dreamed of a dragon..I have heard many here have had the same dream..And woke, Lost and confused in Hlint. I wont bore you with the details, but in a nutshell, I grabbed a sword (copper...which oxidized and turned green before I could replace it) and set out to do what I could for the somewhat troubled people of Hlint.

My adventures in hlint from that point on were at times glorious, foolish, or darn-right silly. I have conqured the ratman of the hlint sewers, felled a shadow deep in the crypts, Took the head of the goblin king in the red light caves, Hunted all manner of beasts for the town trapper, helped recover, and raise the corpse of an unfortunate little girl, eaten by bugbears, and found a frost onion for a poor half elf cooking co-ed.

Beyond hlint, I have helped search for and find the lost elven library, and, Oh what an adventure that was! I have been to the bottom of the cave of the eye, and to the top of the grey-peaks. I have explored elven ruins in the high forest, and had an encounter with Storan the litch prince himself...

Oh, how may life has changed in such a short time. I think the life on the farm, the structure and simplicity of it, has helped me to cope with my new life of an adventurer. I can shrug off the stress and worry, Knowing that the sun will rise tommorow, the rains will come, and the seasons will change.

Anyways, faithfull reader. The actual point Im getting at, is that, I have become a Warrior. Yet, I couldent have done almost any of it alone. You need friends to travel with, and thankfully I have found many here. In my travels and adventurers, I have come to realize a few points of combat and tactics which I would like to share, And hopefully, They will help you on your own journeys..
