No you do not..not get reinbursements because its a known bug you sissy ;D if all known bugs would mean you could'nt get reinbusements that would be psyko-harsh since only the first one to ever be stricken by this bug-of-doom would get reinbursement...since from now on its known...silly :)

Still aint fun to watch your unbuffed,  magic dependant class get overrun by Jackie Chan x8...you desperately try to cast heal only to remember you're in greater sanctuary so the spell goes *fizzle snizzle* :) anyways water under the bridge and all.

General Discussion / Re: NWN crashes

I named them Black Lag Moors for the same reason :) With my old GFX card it was horrible to go there. But lately on a somewhat more powerful computer and with Vista OS it seems to be "fixed". Although tilting the camera in Green..something swamps (the V2 platinum mine) Crashes NWN 50% of the times. And moving in those tilesets usually ends up with atleast one crash no matter what i do. But its a beautiful tileset and apparently buggy ;) So we just have to live with it. Besides its not all GFX cards - computers who has this problem. Some have problems with crashing when a simple Heal spell is cast, i dont. Its an old engine and an old game, it has its quirks. Best advice from me is to stay out of these areas until its either fixed or you for some reason learn to avoid these crashes.

The lost tome contiued.

After searching the great library i found little knowledge i could use to get the investigation going on where the  tome is. All i found out was that in Krandor a scholar lived, a specialist on the author of the tome. His name was Ruben. In his house i found a note where it stated that Ruben was on his way to Hurm meeting a guy called Kuhlat, and that he carried alot of trues for this Kuhlat. In Hurm the group and I found him on the docks sitting in the inn. City was pretty upset and alive since the meeting between the city leader and a pirate was to be held soon after. Anyway more or less the emtire group went in the inn and people started throwing accusations towards Kuhlat. Trying to get him to speak. In my honest opinion trues would have worked but hey...they didnt seem to give a . Kuhlat for some odd reasons didnt liked to get pushed around and gave me the impression that things were to get heated soon, so i bailed and fled outside the city walls. Later i heard most of the others were thrown in prison because of their little bar brawl. I waited outside the walls for some time. Im not sure, i stayed hidden and wary so time flies. Kuhlat and two others appeared. Kuhlat had his hands tied and a hood over his head. It was Storold and Rhynnala from Jennara's group that brought him. I made my way to them and joined them.

Kuhlat had apparently led a certain Kenson out in the wild to some odd location, where the book was...or Kuhlat had stashed it. I dont know.
Kuhlat gave his word that he would not make any trouble, all he wanted was to be untied. He even wanted to help fight our way there. Fair enough deal i thought and so we did. We travelled for days and headed further intot he mountains. At some point it was clear to me that Kuhlat was scared. The beasts in those mountains we're savage - and he was  right. A large wolf jumped Storold as we were passing some cliffs and we quickly put the beast down. But it wasnt an ordinary beast, it had years of combat marks on its chest. Scarred and toughneded from it no doubt. And another peculiar thing, it had jewelry on its body. Clearly...it was somekind of druid, or some sick druid putting jewelry on his pet..nevermind that. We met several beasts which we killed, some we simply disabled momentarilly and moved on.
At some point Kuhlat and us did not want to go any furtheer...the beasts were too savage and the weather tough. So Rhynnala and Storold made him show where exactly he had led Kenson, and what direction he had seen him move to. After that they told him that he was free to leave, a fair deal they made i thought. Even thieves have honor, and he kept his piece of the bargain now it was time to keep theirs, and let him go. Thats where it gets creepy. After Kuhlat walks away...Rhynn and Storold starts to whisper and the next thing that happens is that they hold him with some foul magical spell. And assured Kuhlat that they could NOT let him go. I was appauled...terrified. They were actually going to murder him after they: 1. Made him show where Kenson was brought. Even though it was against his own simple but still - Code of honor. 2. They made him fight at our sides for a few days. Not once showing any signs of retreat. And still they choose to end his life...i fealt like puking at the time, and i feared for my own life, if they would kill Kuhlat like that what made them stop there? SO once again i fled, ran as fast as i could into the deep snow and as long as i could. At some point i think i fainted from the cold and physical stress. But never the less i woke up again. And made my way back towards Hurm. Appauled by humanity, sickened to the bone. The group im travelling with is clearly not right in their minds. They all wish to find this book, but all have different agendas. I will consider if my own part in this is worth it...gold, knowledge, adventure.
What i do want is some kind of scheme to avenge that hateful deed these two monsters performed that day in the snow.

//Talmorns trust in people have been crippled. Distrust is now his first impression of people.

Heh, it was hate to illusions and the "former" GM tag-team Storm/Pan who gave demons a new meaning to Harg. When you have had more then 100 Implosion spells cast on you it evolves in to hate.

Roleplaying / Re: Deity Relations
« on: April 22, 2007, 09:02:52 am »
In the question about good god vs. evil god. There is in my opinion many ways to play your character. And i am only talking about characters who have been given something from their gods here, like Clerics and Paladins. Not characters who for some reason have chosen a desired deity due to IC reasons and does not recieve any "gifts" in return from their god. (spells)

A priest, is if you keep it very simple an extension of the god. It is a person who teaches, preaches and judges others on the behalf of his god.
Not because he has to, but because he choose to. Somewhere in this characters life he encounters this gods religion and dogma. And because he sees himself in there AND believes, be has belief that his god is speaking the truth. He then walks aorund the world using these gifts he got in return from his god to aid/hurt others. Doing the work of his god right? If this priest...to some extend chooses to avoid certain strict or loose rules in his gods dogma, he will face the consequences at some point. Eh. lose his powers for a time or permanently.

I do believe that playing a cleric or paladin you should try and stick to these rules set by your god. Simply because you believe it is the truth, the absolute truth. There are others who might share the same thoughts as you in some ways. But YOU only you have his powers, because you have accepted your god as the ultimate truth and thus live by his rules.

That said it is fine for a character in my opinion to "bend" these rules i might call it. Because the Deity section cannot and should not hold information about every single encounter this priest will be tested on. So its ok to understand it the best way you see fit. Simply because we're all human and undertsand what we read differently. What should'nt be understood differently is the enemies of your deity. Someone who believes as strongly as you do in that his god is the absolute power, the absolute truth. But the things he values are the exact opposite of your beliefs. Say, you value life. An evil deity to your god might value the loss of life. If these priests ever meet and exchanges points of views. A fight WILL arise unless one backs off for some IC reason who knows why. But your enemy to your god IS your enemy not because it says so in the deity section, but because you have chosen to play a cleric and thus live by those morale codecs and rule sets. "yeah but i cant go around making people mad" It happens, and hopefully only IC, but again we're only human so that also happens sometimes.

My general point to this rant is: You play a cleric/paladin. You believe your god is the absolute truth in this world. in your life. You play by his rules. Not because you have to but because you want to. How strict you chose to make these rules is up to you. As a player, a human behind the screen having fun.

Mist.

During my travels with a foreign priest and druid. I've come to learn a bit about the god known as Mist. Usually one heard about from sailors and local fishermen in Vehl, but here these two devout people from a far away city have come. And great things have been performed i have to give them that. The priest, known as Hjalmar raised a fellow companion back from the dead, it was utterly disturbing to see him pull his soul back from where ever it was. And other things aswell, as the way they are able to call down the wrath of their god onto others. Fire and lightning amongst other things. Hjalmars friend Favner shares Hjalmers powers in some ways it seems. He too calls down lightning, yet besides  somewhat simple means of healing i've seen little things from Favner. If anything it would be his mood, as it changes as the wind and weather. One part of the day he is calm as the morning breeze. And as the day progresses so does his temper. Hjalmar has on a matter of occasions tried to influence me, so that i might see the "greatness" of Mist. And to some extend he is right. I see it in him, and Favner. They have a certain way about them that other people do not. Maybe that is mist. And i cannot say that i myself fit too well in the local society. Maybe i should too pray to Mist. I shall see in the time to come if im ibe if Mist or if im just Talmorn, the godless. Maybe my soul belongs to somewhere entirely different then Mist.

World Leader Development Quests (WLDQ's) / Re: Hargranar Craggenhilt
« on: December 25, 2006, 07:54:45 am »
Reapplying for Storm and Pankoki (Or Storm alone) to run the WLDQ for me. Back after prolonged vacation from Layo.

Character name: Hargranar Craggenhilt
Current lvl: 22
EXP to next lvl: 300k (ish)

Bio Update:

Hargranar was born into a dwaven family as the youngest of two brothers. His childhood with his brother was not an unusual one. They were as brothers are, always fighting yet close beyond their blood. His brother destined for leadership in the clan made their everyday lives and training to that of a dwarven statesmen, the learning of reading and writing the several dwarven tongues and writings. Yet Hargranar’s life was destined to be lived outside the clans protection, and the brotherly bond was weakened as they were seperated. Hargranar’s future was sealed aswell. The Craggenhilts are kown worshippers of Vorax and as tradition, hargranar was given away to the clergy of Vorax in his early manhood. After many years of service in the clergy of Vorax, Hargranar was sent out on his final test, a lifelong test in duty and service of Vorax, his goal to show the world the meaning and word of Vorax.

*arrives on Mistone, and goes through several ordeals*

On mistone Hargranar learns fast, his skills and powers increase. He makes a friendship which is to last for many years, the Stout dwarf Kobal.

He helps a restles soul to find his peace, a soul which has been devided into six for many hundreds of years. The soul is once again wholae and able to rest. (this was a long series Hargranar came in the middle of, i think it was 20+ sessions, led by Storm.)

Defends the Drow’s attak on Hlint. Barely succeeding. At that point the Drow has taken over Spellguard as a base. Families united into attack against Hlint and Mistone.

A series of strange events ahppen in Hlint and the sorounding townships, members of different deities appaear and wants heroes to deliver a certain object to a cleric of that Deity. Hargranar and several others find out that a powerful demon is trying to lure these clerics into his submission, and the gods in time. They (the party) amongst other things, poison the sielwood, makes sure that Toran is in the end attacked by the now Dark Angel, which has rissen to godhood, and severall other mishaps. As Hargranar sees he’s yet again been fooled into doing the bidding of an evil power. He decides to leave it at that point. He feels hes doing more wrong then right. (and at that point the quest moves over to Remiels ECDQ).

Hargranar unwillingly helped an Ogre mage (*sighs* off all stupid things!) Gather an item made of Grand, the item was in the hands of his brother in the Haven mines. His brother leading the mines and killing everyone trying to rise to his position with this mighty weapon of a bastard god. Well hargranar and several others ventured into th mines and quickly foind that the Ogremage was an imposter, really trying to lure stupid people down the mine and kill them. Which he succeded in. Some members of the party made a few rash and not so bright descisions resulting in the party going unconscious. They were thrown in jail and questioned by the Ogre mage and his minions. Yet...all Hargranar saw was Gloin storming out of his jail cell getting killed. (though it did’nt seem so at the moment the Ogre’s intentions were’nt hostile, he wanted to question us, not kill us) So Hargranar thought, that the end was coming unless he tried something even more stupid and heroic. So he did, and died. And while Harg’s cold corpse was on the jail floor, the ogre guard saw his hance for an early lunch and featsed upon Hargs leg (yummy!). Well without Harg’s help the party made their way our of the cells miraculously and fled with the others, corpses included. Harg was rissen back to life by a powerful healer. And because of a witty lass in the group, he was now known as Hargranar Threeleg Craggenhilt.

Hargranar and others are led to believe a mighty artifact is located on Xanthril, this artifact will be of great importance in the war against Blood. Supposedly a small golden box. Official members of the guards and others are pressenting the group with the task, which deletes all distrust in harg, since the guards are to be trusted...
They travel to Xanthril and locates the artefact in the Dungeon of the Serpent. The smash and kill as usual, finding the artefact after much rouble. They return to the base on Xanthril, where a guard captain is waiting for their return. On their return the “guard captain” shows his real self as a great mage, he then seals off himself with the artefact, the party only capable of watching his actions.
He then starts what i to be the reawakening of an ancient slumbering god. Shadison the viper. For a long time the skies are now also adorned with his symbol, a srpent shown in stars.

Hargranar assists in the rebuilding of a dungeon they succeded to cave in on the Dark angel Quest. The expedition led by Terradon Duvall. The Dungeon a holy ground for Roferein. A safekeeper for a holy relic of Roferein. ((Terradons CDQ, for becoming a Paladin)) On this quest the guards again appear as Lawful, yet respectless of it. The clergy in Pranzis also “currupt” in harg’ eyes.

This quest and several before, also including the Dark angel, has resulted in the distrust of the law. Harg no longer has the respect he used to. He makes a journey back to Dregar to gather his thoughts, seeking reason to stay, helping against Blood. (a three month break from Layonara)
On his return he quickly gets back to hs old ways only change is his trust for the law. (Harg’s alignment is changed form LG to NG, something planned for...long)

On his return he finds his brother murdered by the Albino. One of the greatest assassins ever seen. Hargranar has yet to return to his clan’s caves and pay his respect. Yet many problems stood in his way.

Ideas:
Well anything concerning his faith/church/Deity. Dont have any specific ideas at the moment, but i trust in Storm to have some lined up.

Development:
From his 21st lvl i want to lvl Harg as a fighter. All through his time on Layonara his skills with the Greataxe really isnt matched by many, so the fact that he now focuses in that training only makes sense.(to me anyway) He’s a cleric, yes. But a cleric of Vorax, the Father of Battle. All things fair he will also choose feats reflecting this, feats in his favored weapon the Greataxe.

//After returning to Layo once again Harg has helped Varka in completing his quest to save Bloody Gate from the grasp of Tyranny. Furthermore developed a friendly relationship with a very devout young boy. Garth, who in Harg's absence and Varka's kept the shrine in Bloody gate clean and neat as promised to Harg. Helping him restoring the old Altar to again being a beacon of Vorax. Led an army against Bloody Gate as Varka threw the old King off the throne.

Roleplaying / Re: Forced Emotes - Learn what it is
« on: December 24, 2006, 06:29:23 am »
i dont really think forced emotes is a problem to me. I can see why people is annoyed by the fact that some emotes go against the RP base of the target. Say someone tries to force a dex triggered emote on you although your dex save and dex stat is the best/highest on your char, and you wrote 3 pages on how he was more nimble and dexterious than Houdini. But in most cases with my char's when encountered with a forced emote i try and play myself out of them. Its meant to be fun, its meant to be RP, and telling your target what youre going to do before hand might spoil it all a bit. Say Harg encounters Varka. They stand 1 feet from eachother saying Nay-Aye for 3 mins. (its a Dwarven trait) Then Harg: "Head-butts Varka while severing his left arm with a butter knife" Right. That is very much forced since i dont know what really would happen (yes this is severly exagerated) if i tried it right. But Varka being the nice chap he is simply rolls a Fort save rolling 19+17=900  replying with: "the knife breaks, so does Harg's skull".
Now i could become upset about this but then again i started and presumed a possible outcome without taking into acocunt, Varka
s immense fortitude saves and bodilly odour (doesnt make sense but he does smell!) So i really cant do anything but reply with: "Bleed's alot, a pea fal from Harg's fractured skull" Now me also being a fair (at times) RP'er that i am took it as it was. Fun, RP. And a Dwarven greeting amongst friends. Still forced, yet hardly worth the hassle is it?

When having forced emotes put onto you, hit back with something equally forced. Or ignore it. Do not think of it as an attack. I might just be meant as an RP opportunity for you sent by another player, and not as an attack/attempt to annoy you.

Well. It does make things interesting. Harg has died so many times i cant even comprehend the amount of tokens i could have had heh. But 8 DT's at lvl 20, and the chance of perm'ing was getting to me, a love/hte thing i believe. Adds tension, though stinks if you perm. unless as it was for one char - on purpose. But now i have Soulmother defence and all is good again.
