Well thats unfortunate... you pick a class you should rp it.  If you play a cleric then don't rp the faith, you are not a cleric but a fighter with spells.

I dissagree to an extent.  It's all a matter of how you role play the faith.  Just because a cleric doesn't go around babbling about his or her diety everywhere he or she goes does not mean that he or she is not devout.  And that includes integrating their diety into their war cries.  Take my cleric Minugi for example.  He is a devout cleric of Lucinda.  Wears robes everywhere, even though the blue clashes with his green eyes, ;) he uses a quarterstaff as much as possible, and he even "wears" a necklace bearing Lucinda's symbol around his neck.  However, you will never hear him utter a peep about The Lady of Magic.  Why?  He can't speak.  He's a born mute.  I'm not being accusitory with this, but observe the character's actions, dress, weapons, etc. before you say they do not role play their faith, because they may have a legitmate reason why.  To me, seeing the character's faith integrated into the afformentioned attributes is more interesting and a more tell-tale sign of a devout than speaking about your diety constantly.  A phrase comes to mind, something about Talking the Talk, but not Walking the Walk.  :)

General Discussion / Re: Breaking a level stagnation.
« on: December 05, 2006, 01:53:23 pm »
I'm going to have to side with TV here.  I've been a member of the Layo community for around two years now, I've got three characters, and the highest level among them is 9.  When I first started I was worried about nothing else but leveling.  That coupled with my extremely bad RP skill at the time caused this fiasco; the first words out of my first character's mouth were "Hi, do you know a good place to fight around here?  I need to level up."  Granted, it took me a few tweaks to find a character that I just absolutely love playing, but once i found Minugi, I don't worry about leveling at all.  Now, I'll be the first to admit that if I get xp I'm not going to complain, I mean who wouldn't want to be among the greats of this community.  However, and anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, Layonara is a RP based server.  That's why the xp requirements per level are so large.  The world was created that way so that we wouldn't have hundreds of lvl 40's running around.  My advice to you is to find a character (and perhaps you already have) that you absolutely love to RP.  From there just have fun with it.  Like Dorg said, enjoy the ride and soon you'll be there.  If you stare at the peak of the mountain while you climb it will take forever to reach, but if you look around at all of the beauty of the people and world around you while you climb, you'll be there in no time.  ;)

Brielle and Minugi are havin a serious moment--

Brielle- "You listen very well Minugi"
Minugi- *gives an appreciative nod, winks*
Brielle- "You've been quiet lately, what's wrong?"
Mingui- *slaps forehead*

After a quest Talan gives all participants holdable items, Hawklen gets a flower and Guddwick, a cross--

Guddwick- *holds out his cross and advances towards Minugi*
Minugi- *hisses mockingly, backs away slowly*
Hawklen- *feminine voice* Stoppit Guys! *giggles*

A strange orb of light is attracted to metal--

DM- *orb darts around Praylor's armor*
Falon- "Wonder what it wants..."
*Awkward silence*
DM- [tell] Get others to notice orb attracted to metal
Minugi- *tugs on Falon's robes*
Falon- "Yes Minugi?"
Mingui- *points to the orb, then Praylor, tracing the orb's motion around his armor*
Falon- "Yes, it seems to want something, but what?"
*Awkward Silence*
DM- *sparks dance along Praylor's armor and the orb quickens its pace*
Minugi- *points again to the orb, Praylor's armor, an traces the movements, motioning towards the sparks*
Falon- "Maybe its because Praylor is standing alone?"
Minugi- *slaps forehead*
*Awkward Silence*
Falon- "Ooooooh, Perhaps you should change out of your armor Praylor, in fact, everyone should"
*Minugi walks around to each person in turn and motions for them to change out of their armor, they do, everyone stands around for another long awkward silence*
DM- *orb comes over and dances around Minugi's armor*
Mingui- *slaps self in forehead, changes out of armor*
DM- [tell] =P

And my personal favorite:  The Apprentice

I would also like to offer my assistance.

I'll go ahead and be upfront and honest however that I have no prior experiences with the aforementioned qualifications like NWN or custom content.  However I'm quite creative and willing to learn.

I'll work hard wherever I'm needed.  However, I'd most like to be involved in:
- Area Design
-Creature/NPC Design and maintenance
-Weather/Climate Design and control

I have a flexible college schedule, so time is not an issue.

No hard feelings if denied, but I have loads of fun here and I'd like to get involved.

I say keep the snow as a seasonal thing.  It adds a little spice and changes things up...if only slightly.  And to OldBear, go stand around in the snow in Leilon for a while.  Takes longer than the Barbarian Isles, but you suffer damages from cold. :)

Development Journals and Discussion / RE: Minugi's Journal
« on: October 26, 2006, 01:19:39 pm »
I feel like my brain is about explode!  I've learned so much!  There's no way I'll be able to remember all of this!  I suppose I'll just have to keep my journal with me at all times, and review my lessons any chance I get.  Anywas, I suppose I should right these words down before I forget them.

*crosses arms* -- Uilliam
*taps an elbow* -- Enough
*wipes lips, raises hand, puts one fist atop the other* -- You are quiet.
*touches nose* -- North
*flashes several fingers* -- South
*taps an elbow* (make sure its the right elbow) -- East
*wiggles a thumb* -- West
*touches nose* -- Near
*taps fingertips together* (give a fairly wide bearth between taps) -- Far
*points at lips* -- Field (like a farm)
*links index fingers* -- Hill
*scratches forehead* -- Mountain
*strokes a bicep* -- Desert
*scratches a palm* -- Swamp
*rotates a finger* -- River
*points at lips* -- Pond
*touches lips* -- Lake
*touches neck* -- Ocean
*pinches earlobe* -- Oasis
*touches forehead* -- In
*pinches earlobe* -- On
*raises hand* -- At
*brings both hands together* -- By
*curls fingers* -- Under
*touches neck* -- Over
*grips wrist* -- Through
*crosses fingers* -- About

Teacher and I don't have a set time to meet again, but I will keep my eyes open while I'm in town for any chance of another lesson.

*a neatly scrawled note, though poor in grammar*

I met with Teacher again today.  She seemed happy to see me after our long break.  Lessons were short however, as Teacher had to leave in order to aid a weaker one.  Today's words and phrases were:

*strokes chin, raises hand, rubs knee, interlaces fingers, raises hand, wiggles thumb* -- I am glad that you are well.
*scratches palm, touches forehead* -- She is...
*links index fingers, touches forehead* -- He is...
*points to a thumb, raises hand* -- They are...
*strokes chin, touches forehead* -- It is...
*grips wrist, raises hand* -- Those are...
*points to a thumb, raises hand* -- These are...
*cups hands* -- Where, When, What, Why (only slight differences between the four)
*touches lips* -- Loud
*opens a fist* -- Quiet
*raises hand* -- Annoying

Teacher and I will try to meet again tomorrow evening, near the bank.

At least we have the random number generator, flawed though it is *wink* (my d20 is loaded to get only 3's and 4's ;)).  It's better than rolling a d20 in RL, taking a picture of it, then submitting it on the forums, waiting for a GM to check, then signing back in and a GM handing you the finished product (or taking your supplies away).  I do believe that there would be no crafters left if that was our system.

Yeah, I ran all around last night to a lot of the towns I knew an all of them didn't have any houses available.  I figured there might be a shortage.
