Tath.  He chews on the orc basher shop while he's a bear, and has a great accent when he's not a bear.  Really, I couldn't explain it, but his style of RP is really pretty fun.

I'd like to toss in a quick thank you as well, but not for the quest, but for just a small little bit of added flavor.  Sardowen has trouble telling elves apart, and after a heated incident involving  a young "lass" named Lance, the guard came by and broke it up before it became a scuffle.

*Raises glass*

I think I'll do this when I get home from work tonight.

Off-Topic:  Since we're at the moment officially not using NWN2 for playing on, any thoughts on creating NWN2 versions of these mods, or NWN2 exclusive layo mods?

Just curious.

*Edit*
Also, ACK!  I think my post count went way down :(  Maybe not, but I really think it was much higher, cuz I remember gloating to Leanthar way back in the day that I had hit 10% of his total (At the time)

WAY WAY back in the days when I was a GM, I used to just randomly take control of NPCs and converse with the players.  Most of the time I could tell the player was momentarily stunned by the turn of events.

Also a fun one I used to do, was I would control Erag, and then walk right up to someone, and stare at them.  And then as they would walk away I would mutter something about them being impolite and not saying hi.

And then there was once or twice where I would make Erag just follow them.  And as soon as they would turn around, I'd turn Erag the other way and whistle.  I followed someone from Hlint to Pranzis that way once.

Hehe, thanks Etin.

Good to see some of the quasi-oldschoolers.  ;)

Shouldn't there be some evil organization somewhere looking for dead adventurers to raise?  I'd assume that adventurers would make a better vessel for undeadimification (that's the scientific term) than whatever is used for the regular kinds of deaders.

*Imagines a team of undead versions of some of our favorite PCs...*

What an overall great project.  Also, I think I'm going to be assisting with the music, so uh, I need some suggestions for some Windows compatible sequencers and music writing programs/tools.

I have the talent, just not the tools  :(

Lol, PM me for a funny Jhovah's witness story... it's not quite forum appropriate, but yeah.

Way back in the days of high school marching band we went from door to door selling Beef and Cheese.  Yeap.  Like, smoked sausage and novelty cheeses and the sort.  And believe it or not, I was a pretty cute kid (I know, I dunno what happaned either ;)  ) with dimples to boot, so I could flash those bad boys, and sure enough, I'd be amongst the top sellers.

I suggest installing a moat with crocodiles.  Keeps not only the sales-people away, but also evangelists, mailmen, and those crocodiles will make quick work of the neighbors' dog that keeps doing its' business in your yard.

An interesting thing about setting it far in the future is that you can "Phase Out" a lot of areas and focus on new ones.  Instead of Hlint being the main hub, everything could be designed around a new little town.  *Throws a dart at the map*  Like Shard for example.

What does this have to do with characters?  Well if you phase out certain areas and cities then you can phase out characters heavily associated to that city or location too.  Lar could become a bustling mining and crafting city, and the Blacklung family has become engrossed in the process and politics.  Leilon is hinted at in the lore later of once having a great inn.  Etc. etc.

Basically give the "important" players a tangible place in the lore and history of Layonara.  And potentially allow bloodlines.  Just require a large amount of background in the character submission.  No doubt that being adventurers (And thus the "Sports stars" and whatnot of Layonara, they're bound to find a girl and bear offspring.  As long as that doesn't infer preset power, then I see no problem in wiping the slate clean and allowing some bloodline characters.

This also allows people to play a character who is very similar in his goals and ideals to their original character.

So, I say wipey wipey, but with privelages.

Having said that, fairness be danged, I want Ozy to be able to be Ozy =P  Hehe.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Re: Vampires
« on: April 04, 2006, 01:40:39 pm »
Just keep in mind that it all boils down to what L thinks and wants Vampires to be.  Heck, if you're looking for a solution to the sunlight issue, just cause sunlight to make a Vampire completely worthless, like reduced to 3 con, str, and a severely reduced int (I'd say 8, simply so the Vampire would have trouble speaking properly, but could communicate).  This would allow them to move around during the day if absolutely necissary, but sitll punish them, and most likely make them avoid daylight altogether (What would happen if a vampire hunter came for them while they were so week?)

I think this really all depends on what Leanthar's take on Vampirism is.  D&D is made to be changed.  That's the very reason it is so wonderful.  It is morped to be whatever you want it to be.  As such, who says that Vampirism corrupts your soul, turns you wicked, etc. etc.  In my eyes, becoming a Vampire is simply a biological occurance, and could easily be described as such.  This kind of thing, while having a vast psychological impact on a person (Think about never being able to set foot in the sunlight ever again...) wouldn't necissarily turn them evil.

Granted, it is FAR easier to then slip into evil, as feeding, and in-general psychotic-ness become problematic, but a character that understands the changes and perhaps even is prepared for them could come to use their powers in ways that they feel is doing a greater good, and overcome the aforementioned issues.

Getting back to the original point, Vampires in Layo are most likely going to be VERY different than Vampires anywhere else, if for no other reason than everything else in Layo is so uniquely different.  Almost everything in Layo as compared to "Normal" PnP rules is different, tweaked, and adjusted to fit the campaign.  Why shouldn't vampires be as well?

I always liked the idea of a Vampire settling down and ruling a township from a keep.  Rarely showing himself, but also ruling with little incident, so as never to make people question him.  Problems in the town, be it crime, vilainy or whatever else, are dealt with swiftly in the dead of the night, with no one the wiser...

Gyah!

Don't use oxen for storage, there are just FAR too many horror stories associated.  Also, I think we've got a sticky somewhere that asks that players not do this as well.  It's very easy for an ox to get eaten, beaten, or otherwise wiped from existance, and with the ox's passing, so pass your items.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / RE: Idea for crafting...
« on: October 29, 2005, 01:42:00 pm »
Essentially limiting crafting to so many per character would drive up the inter-dependancy, which would drive up RP and interaction between characters.  It would also make that person who took up tinkering much more demanded.

Imagine this.  Everyone makes their three crafts the "cool" crafts, they do Armorsmithing, Weapon smithing, and Tailoring.  Awesome.  But wait... they can't smelt the ore now...  well they'll have to get that done by someone who has much experience in smelting.  Oh... and they need molds too.  So they have to find a tinkerer.

Now then, while all the "cool" tradeskill people clamor to find someone who can make molds and ca smelt, the smelters and tinkerers are sitting back raking in money as well, because they're the only ones that can actually make these items.

Now then, consider this.  This system would also force people to specialize a bit.  I take up Weapon Smithing.  I need molds, and I need smelted ore for this to occur as well, and I don't feel like depending on other people to do this, I want to be self-sufficient.  Well there I go, there are my three crafts.  I've used all three of them up to be the best armorsmith I can be.

Another thing to consider might be to require weapon smiths in the later stages to specialize in one kind of weapon.  You can only make +2 or greater weapons of a certain type (Axe, Sword, Spear, etc...).

And last but not least, probably a VERY hated idea, consider feats for item crafting for the superior products.  If I have to take a feat just to be able to make that Adamantium greatsword, I'm gonna think twice about how serious i am into crafting.

Hehe, well I play Scherzo as if he had very similar personality traits as me, just far more educated and refined, and far more tactful, so I often find myself just "translating" my own comments into what Scherzo would say.

Large Ogre - "I tink dat tief went in der"
Me - "*Rolls eyes*  Of course he did you friggin Scholar, now let's go get him!"
Scherzo translation - "*Nods and mutters something under his breath*  I agree, perhaps we should persue."

Back in the day when I as a GM, I mixed the "Kill" and "Goto" buttons up quite a bit.  I'm sure there are horror stories, but namely, in the midst of a deep RP session Icedragon was apparently having, I killed her.  Nothing like an untimely death to ruin the mood.

Yeah...that's me...  I generally look less creepy.  And I keep my head shaved bald now, but yeah.  That pic was taken after a whole lot of partying, I'm pretty sure I was wearing a bowtie and a smile at the time that pic was taken :D

For that matter, just something to add to detail/immersion might be a phoenetic spelling after all the deities and locales.  Yes that'd be a bunch of work, but it does add to immersion a bit.  Maybe it could be done gradually over time.  Also, maybe ask each newly submitted character to adda  phoenetic spelling to their name.

I've thought of this a few times, but never really brought it up, I'm glad you did.

All kidding aside, grab yourself a beer and go lay out in the hammock, you've earned it.  Another GREAT patch.
