Wild Surge Inn / RE: looking for Sand Krows

*A mysterious figure in black robes and with a black hood covering his face, walks into the Wild Surge and sits down for a drink. While waiting he glances at the wall for anything specific or any news he may catch up on while he was "gone". He then notices this note reads it once and tears it down, chuckling. He leaves a few gold pieces on the table for the drink and walks out rubbing his knees and muttering.*

*blushes innocently* Thanks guys. Its nice to be back in the loop. That certainly was one on my favorite nights in Layo by far. Stephen you were awsome with Pyyran and Sand learned quite a bit about him just by listening to his responses. Also very nice to sort out my story so that it makes a bit of sense. We'll just see what happens next. See you all in game hopefully! :)

Well first of all, welcome to Layonara.  As to your question...do you have Neverwinter Nights Platinum or higher?  You need Neverwinter Nights and the two expansion packs to play on Layo.

Ah...has it been this long since I have seen the light of day? I sit in the forest, writing this to you now, all alone, everyone gone.  My clothes no longer represent the colors of that damnable Lucinda, that selfish damnable goddess.  She cares for no one but herself.   I was locked, locked  away with no hope of returning and all she did was sit by and watch.  Stupid was I for following in her path, she doesn't care, she can't influence.  I was sitting in my misery for over a year, being tortured by one I do not know, and yet she was not there.  I now carry scars on my body in numbers I cannot count, only because that damnable selfish goddess was not there.  I had hope and I prayed for the first month, they only laughed at me for my stupidity and spit at me, yet I had hope.  And it was crushed.

General Discussion / RE: Pricing Guide
« on: October 07, 2005, 03:50:00 pm »
Well the guide is exactly what it is, a guide.  It just gives you the base prices for the items listed.  That doesn't nessecarily mean that you have to follow it EXACTLY but you should follow it.  I would say that you can lower the price or make it as high as you want, just remember that it may have conseqences to the economy of Layo.

*bows low* Greetings.

I have been on Layonara for 11 months now and have seen a variety of things in the PW and would love to make it even better.  My strong points would go into area building and anything related to building.  If you want an example of an area i've built, check out the Lake Rillion house (thanks Leanthar), its nothing special and still needs a few things tweeked but its a starting point.  I can work well in groups if need be or I can work alone, I am very flexible and  can bend many different directions :)  Timewise it is sometimes difficult for me to get on during the weekdays (not including Friday nights) but the weekends should be fine.

Thanks for considering,

*the paragraphs on this page are scattered throughout the page in no perticular order* *the page also looks worn and old somehow*        All it takes is a little faith.  I was walking through Hampshire one day when I met up with 2 people that would change my life forever.  Herman, and Chris Chiro.  Herman was a fellow priest of Lady Lucinda like myself and Chris was a swordsman of some type, he carried around a giant sword and swung it insanely hard.  Well, anyway, we decided to try and get some platinum in the Battle Fens, I cast my protective spells and we easily dispatched the first group of lizards, but, of course, something went wrong, I don't rightly recall it but Chris got shot down by a barrage of arrows and Herman shortly after.  I ran, but the sticky swamp sucked my feet in and shortly after I died too.     I found myself laying on the ground near the bind stone in Hlint and ran back to Hampshire.  I rested and prepared to bring them back from the Plane of the Lost, the lizards had regrouped and were blocking my way to get to my friends, so I developed a plan to try and sneak by them.  I summoned my new golem and as he distracted the lizards I ran past them into the next section.  I prayed to Lady Lucinda and brought them both back to our plane.  We easily fought our way out and ended up in Hampshire.  Chris and Herman thanked me greatly and Herman even went so far as to give me a platinum ring.  A true sign of friendship among priests.  To this day I still have that ring.            Kata... how I remember her vividly.  So open to life, so true hearted.  An inspiring scorceress of Lady Lucinda.  Gone...all gone, disappeared one day, never to return.  Hard times after that my life that was.  I shut myself away, to my god, to everyone, yet I remained hopeful that she would return one day, or at least give me a sign.  Never.        The sign.  I was in Fort Hope one day comming from the Broken Forest when a lady came by, Lia was her name.  She asked me if I would come with her to certain death, "chasing a demon" that was haunting her mind she said, I didn't care anymore, my life was over.  I followed her into Xantril, land of Xandrial and Bloodstone.  Left we took, from the dreary lake, into a red mist that sucked your breath out of you.  I prepared us both for the impossible as we walked for a bit, eyes open, watching, waiting for our deaths.  I summoned my Lady's powers, to this day I can't believe She was there for me, and called a golem, later called Lightning, unto this plane, a moment later a giant appeared out of the mist and came charging.  Lia cast a holding spell as my golem and I charged the giant head on, dropping it within a few seconds.  Neither of us smiled at our skill, or luck, and we trudged on through the mist.  As we traveled farther we dropped several giants by the same method and finally came upon a group too large for us to handle.  We rested and and prepared, and as the last spell was cast several giants flanked us from behind.  Stupid...they knew we were here, we were in their home.  My golem dropped as soon as I summoned it and we ran.  I was but two steps from my spot when blackness took me.  I woke up next to Lia...weak and spent.  We traveled back.       Bruenor and Kaizer.  It was about a month after my expedition to Xantril when I wandered into Velensk, alive and still thinking.  I was muttering to myself when I hear "Git da bloody bas'terds!" and a bang of metal against metal.  This small mass of muscle was shouting at a full grown human man!  I walked closer and noticed the man holding his sides laughing.  The dwarf turned with a "Bah!" and he walked, muttering, towards me.  "Wat yer do dere lad?" The short dwarf, staring up at me, said "I am a priest." I replied.  "Well git yer arse over 'ere den" Shruging, I followed the dwarf to the human who was smiling widely now.   "Dis 'ere is ah priest" He said to the human as he walked next to his side. "Kaizer Thell is my name, and this here...errr thing is Bruenor." Kaizer said, still with a boyish grin on his face. "Sand Krows" I replied.  "Ya, ya lets git some o' dem giants now" Bruenor said impatiently.  "Are you going to join us Sand?" Shruging I agreed and followed them into the mountains.  I cast protective wards and other strength enhancing things as I studied them both.  Bruenor was about 4' 3" and stock, probably all muscle.  He had a long brown, greying, beard that he took great pride in.  His eyes had a grey-blueish tint to them, a life that has seen too much and felt too little.  Kaizer was about my height and weight with a darker brown colored hair than Bruenor's.  His eyes were sky blue with a light in them, a light of adventure I call it.   We killed all the giants in the mountain easily and headed back out to the Fort.    At that moment,  Bruenor grinning from ear to ear and covered in giant gore and Kaizer smiling the same, I knew that this was a path, a new future I could start at.       The Cave.  If I remember correctly it was Derrick, Brue, myself, and about 3 others that I do not remember, well anyway, we decided to take a little trip into the deeper regions of Berhagen.  We were having a grand time slaughtering giants by the hundreds and asking for more.   We arrived at the Berhagen cave full of spirit and cockiness, I guess you could say, we buffed at the cave entrance and ran on into the caves with ease, slaughtering giants the same as the surface, until we came upon the last huge group of giants and their leader.  We lured a few at a time and picked them off until their numbers were few then we charged and killed the rest.   We celebrated our  victory and rested.  But as always our cockiness was overbearing our heads so we thought nothing of an ambush.  About 20 giants rushed in and slaughtered the lot of us besides myself and as an act of desperation, I ran.  I prayed the whole time I ran and by the time I got to the entrance the giants were gone.  Disappeared into thin air, Lady Lucinda came through to me yet again and asked for nothing in return.  I prayed yet again to ask for my friends souls back and Lady Lucinda, as always, came through for me.  They were all brought back and sent directly to me.  We walked out nothing in our path directly to Lady Lucinda's temple.

Harloff - 9/13/2005  5:55 AMIf a subrace should exist for poeple from the barbarian islands i think it should be something like:5/- cold resistance (they are from the cold north and can't be damaged by cold as easily)Not affected by the cold weather on Krashin since they are used to it, but gain penalties in the desert insteadalignment: non-lawfull (well there is a reason why they are called the barbarian islands, besides they tend to sack leilon from time to time)Classes: Figther, barbarian, bard, (druid, ranger)hmmm... I can't say if the class is at all interesting compared to the problems of making it...-Harloff

I was thinking more along the lines of lawful because of R.L. Salvatore's Icewind Dale, mostly.  The barbarians in that series had a strict code by which they followed.  I also do realize now that this is not Faerun and not in Salvatore's mind.

Talan Va'lash - 9/12/2005  1:38 AM So.. they get the benefits of the class they're taking plus Skaldabilities? Also the stat adjustments are reaaally unbalanced a +2 con is fairlywell offset by a -2 int, but a +3 strength is way more valuable than a-4 cha. It also means they'll be really bad bards.A subrace that only had those stat adjustments and none of the otherstuff would be close to a level adjustment +2Toss in cold resist and fairly big save bonus' and you're getting yourECL up there.Getting the additional class progression is going to peg your ECL tothe point where its not playable. And if most are lawful, then why are two of the three classes they canpick classes that require a non-lawful alignment?Cha isn't only a measure of how good someone is with the ladies, andthe idea that a cultural practice (such as the position of women in agiven society) would give a group a -4 cha is a very ethnocentricperception.I agree that crazy ideas should be shared! I'm just trying to tearyours apart and make you cry. no no! I'm just kidding. But, balance isimportant and balance issues can't always be solved by tacking on anECL.-TV
Yep, I totally understand what your saying.  Especially the balance part as you can see my balancing was quite unbalanced, funny enough.  I look back now and realize I wasn't thinking of how it could be used in NWN and Layonara.  Just an odd class that would be something special.

Varnart - 9/12/2005  5:56 AMJust thought this could be useful for threads such as this one.
Yes that looks like an excellent race building program...it would be even neater if it was made especially for Layonara.  Using all of the Layo things and the Bioware standard.   I will rethink this and try and see if I could make it balanced and made for NWN and Layonara.  Most excellent feedback.  Thanks!
