General Discussion / Re: Trying to log on..

I have the same issue. I have a character on here (Kain Roman) that was approved a while ago. I just returned from a long absence away from Layonara and I can't find the IP address to log on.

Thanks, I think I will actually.

I'm going to purchase an iron one from Marainna, but a second one in bronze would be nice as well. Where can I find you?

Where is this Freelancer Guild Hall?

If you really want to "spar", might it be possible to fake it using the dicebag? (i.e. rolling strength checks to see who hits, how often, etc..."

After a few round of just calculating attack rolls (not even damage) I bet you could figure who'd win, and it would be excellent RPing.

*Ael jabs with his sword*
*Otherguy dodges*
*Otherguy counterattacks*
*Ael gets hit in the leg*

... etc... Just a thought

Not lipstick so  much as the "loading area" pics.
Is there any way I can  control these? When  entering the High Forest it will show a dungeon, or a desert etc. Doesn't spoil anything, but affects moods.

True, but -having- loading screens in the first place I think really ruins the mood...

Still, as Green said, the loading screens can be edited to show only certain ones when entering certain areas. I merely think that the Layonara staff didn't deem it worthwhile to spend tons of time setting specific load screens for each of the 1000+ areas. ;)

Heck, like someone said above, the spell is a high level one (considering how long it takes to level up in Layo), uses a spell component if you don't have Eschew II... I've never seen anyone cast this spell yet here.

Do any monsters have perma-True Seeing? If not, then I really doubt anyone will ever spot you with True-Seeing while you sneak (my Ranger/Rogue can get sneak attacks all the time against monsters).

Enjoy Layonara, it is really a ton of fun, it's worth buying NWN just for this PW

No, Ogres are Ogres, and Giants are Giants ... completly different.

I believe there is a favored enemy for Ogres, if not, I guess it would be humanoid?

I didn't see an FE for Ogres, otherwise I would have picked it. I figured it was either Giants, Monstrous Humanoids, Humanoids or Beasts...

EDIT: Just checked the toolset, Ogres are indeed under GIANTS, so my dual wielding ranger with a BAB of +6 and +6 offhand should get +7 and +7 offhand when fighting ogres, but this does not occur.

EDIT2: Sorry, what I meant by the above is that I don't think the bonus gets added in the combat window... Can someone confirm that FE is working?

In smaller towns there could be once a week, month markets.  Maybe with vendors licenses bought one a one off to a monthly/yearly license.

Mary Blood Axe

Now that would be cool!

Imagine 25 people gathering at a small Hlint market once a week or month doing their shopping "Hey what did you get?" "Wow neat!" "I think I'm going to save up for that one" etc... It would be almost like the local street market gatherings they have in many cities in Europe (if you've been to Firenze in Italy you'll know precisely what I imagine). This would also increase the worth of (not "gold value", more like appreciation for) player made items since they'd only be available a limited time.

Let's say, the vendors should be available for a whole 24 hours on their day so that everyone regardless of timezone can shop.

However, reading the previous posts it is clear the venders were abused a lot... The rules posted in the first post seem to me to be fool-proof, but then again I've got no experience with vendors.

I was at full health and attacking a goblin at range.  I am quite good with a bow, and have healing at my command. There was no difficulty I could see, unless the goblin rolled a lucky crit on me.

Dude - it happened, let it go and let's get on with the game. :o

Sure thing. But you were indeed Badly Wounded, I wouldn't have helped anyone who was fighting a goblin "Uninjured".

Whoops... Forgot to log in... The previous "Guest" post is mine ;)

(looks like Kain needs a couple more points of Intelligence LOL!)

EDIT: The matter was resolved in the other thread, sorry for bringing this up again, did go back and read it

I really don't want any trouble or feel the need to avoid a player on the server. If this person things I goofed, then so be it, I just wanted to apologize and have that be the end of it... I really like this server and so far this is the only time I've had anyone give me the impression I made a mistake.

It is also quite possible that maybe this person was just in a bad mood at the time, you know, wrong time wrong place, sometimes you just say things to blow off steam, we've all been there I'm sure. :)

I don't think it's creepy... it's just really annoying, and has way too much reverb on it. Sounds like the kid's laughing inside a giant steel drum. ;)

LOL! Although I never noticed this laughing sound this line is really funny! :D

Thanks, not a bug then.

Ah, as I thought. (which is actually great since I notice that the lag on Layonara is not bad at all considering the huge size and number of players on at once)

I can work around it without problem, thanks for the quick reply!

Did I read the opening to this thread right?  A Barbarian/Wizard?  Am I dating myself or was I raised in believing Barbarians hated magic???

Read Deodus Roman's history in the Char Approval (or Recent Char Approval) forums. Yes barbarians can be wizards as well if they like. Heck, since even Ogres can be mages, I'm pretty sure a human barbarian who is in his 20's can choose a different path.

(either way the character got approved so the DM's seem to think it's OK)

EDIT: Spelling

General Discussion / RE: EDITED: Question regarding Challenge Ratings
« on: August 05, 2005, 07:56:00 am »
You see, this is why I really like this server. Ask a question, and twenty people jump right in to help you out :)

I now understand the meaning of Moderate, (and I also very much appreciated everyone's helpful hints).

I'm actually happy to see that the challenge rating does in fact go beyond merely "Moderate" or "Challenging", but it also stems from creature appearances and types. As Variable pointed out, a "Moderate" Ogre is a more feared opponent than a "Moderate" goblin. I think this adds just a little bit more great RP value, and makes it a little hard to merely examine a creature and say "I can easily defeat that".

Sound advise. Thank you very much, I look forward to seeing what Breg is up to these days.
