I agree and I think if people get angry they should just let people know they're annoyed and say they're going to calm down, nothing like a bit of time to cool off.

Ah, but if rust monsters are only found around aberrations and ghosts, what do those rust monsters eat?

Sorry, cheap shot, but they can't RELY on adventurers...

I would imagine they could eat ore. I figured that rust monsters would inhabit mostly disused mines and such forth, food there would be plentiful. I would say it's a fair point. I find the greatest immersion when monsters in an area have a reason for being there, goblins, orcs. Cultists and demons etc.

If I may, for a moment interject.

Whilst I have not been here long I have extensive experience in tabletop gaming. I have found that in tabletop games, movies and all other similar scenario's that the unknown is what gives fear, not the known. This unknown factor can come from many things. Capture for example may induce fear as time spent inside of the dungeon of an evil villain at the hands of torture and such forth may also induce fear, both OOC and IC as it represents pain and suffering for a character and time lost playing for the person.

By conveying a fear of something foreboding and evil one is able to induce fear far better than when the enemy is known. Many situations help induce this fear, ambushes, surprises, twists, turns and gruesomely descriptive scenes.

When you walk down a hallway with no prompts or story from the GM, you are often left with a situation which screams generic dungeon bash. I believe that appropriate comments and situations combined can lead to a situation which induces fear.

I do not argue that rust monsters are, or are not necessary, my opinion is that they are acceptable in a situation which makes sense. I believe, that in the dungeon which myself and pnp were in they did not make sense. The Rust monster would have eaten the equipment of other creatures inhabiting that space or at least attempted to and thus been killed. The ecology of the creature in question did not fit with the ecology of the other denizens of the dungeon. I find it hard to believe that creatures relying upon metal equipment would also tolerate the presence of such a creature.

The point should never be is this fair OOC, is this nice OOC, but does this make sense within the confines of the rules of the world we are in? The rust monster inhabits a cave with other aberrations then in my opinion that is fine as most aberrations don't use weaponry. If it inhabits a cave with ghosts then that may also be justified.

It is also worth noting that adventurers by and large are people whom the normal and 'mundane' combat situations are more every day occurrences, these are people who have forsaken the normal day and life they left behind and decided for whatever reason to adventure and live a life of danger which often entails a gruesome and quick end. The word adventurer itself entails some degree of a person who thrives upon or seeks out things which a normal person would fear.

Ok, thanks. I did mean a single house somewhere new/additional from before, not a new housing area.

Greetings Dubbel,

Perchance you can acquire some gold ingots for an old friend. I am sure we can find some suitable arrangement.

I write this as of the conclusion of the below mentioned event.

I stood alone upon the battlefield, I had chosen the place I had chosen the time and the means, I was sure of victory, but the nerves before a battle are always the same. The price of death is a high one indeed.

I approached the final cave of my final destination. The overlord was standing there, arrogance, disdain for honour, he stood, as if challenging the air itself. Without warning I struck upon him, setting him ablaze, disapearing as fast as I appeared, in one quick blur, springing forth again and again, sapping his morale until he fled to the corners of the cave fleeing his fate, there was no mercy, I was hired for a job and on my honour I had to achieve it. At the end was at the start, I stood alone on the battlefield, my foes had been vanquished, I returned to the weird man whom requested it.

Honour had once more been sated, I did as I had promised.

Today a weird woman hailing from the faith of Illsaire attacked a man whom she accused of being a dark elf and ruthlessly finished his life.

Another man whom I had gotten to know to some extent attacked a man by the name of Timulty Keel, myself and Mr. Keel had occasion to talk with one another before and he seemed an amicable fellow however the dwarf Troy Saxonaxe deemed this false and attempted to kill Mr. Keel. I believe I will refrain from future dealings with this dwarf where possible to avoid possible implications on myself from his actions. He is uncontrolled and raw and has mental issues beyond reckoning, he consistently speaks of battle and death....I will keep an eye on him. Less things be disrupted for the greater failure.

It seems I'm offline for a while myself. I've always had problems with "Diamond Edition"-black screen, etc. and now with the update it wont launch from the Play menu. There's a conflict with the NVidia 8800 series graphics cards (of which I have two) which can't seem to get resolved. Huge thread in Bioware Forums on it and NVidia doesn't seem to care a lot. I've no idea how I got the game to work after last update getting a black screen. It just started working after "blind clicking" for a while through the black options screen. Hope to see you all again soon. Goldy

Remove your video card drivers.

Install the latest ones.

Finally, go to your nvidia control panel, find 'manage 3D settings'.

Look for a setting called: Extension Limit
Turn it either on, or off depending on what it is (reverse it).

If it still crashes and you're using vista, ensure you run it in administrative mode.

Also, turn of User Access Controls....

Thx

I wasn't complaining at the Layo staff, i was relating positive experiences with the browser that I had, well mostly positive. That this was the only failing of it, if you used it I think you would like most of it....but the fact it isn't compatible with the forums here irks me enough not to use it for now.

It's a browser, more advanced, better security and a lot more features than most browsers. It's also greatly streamlined and simplified.

*a notice is affixed to the board in the middle of the night*

I have word of the whereabouts of this man you speak of and where he was last seen and whom was carrying him.

I will be prepared to part with this information for a suitable reward.

Please leave a notice here of what you intend to pay to encourage me to part with this information and I would be most pleased to come to an arrangement with you.

Sincerest Regards.

Today I met a simple man but a strong man. He went by the name of Kendryk. He was a useful asset in a tough situation, along with a human priestess of Az'atta, she was quite friendly and very concerned about anyone being hurt. Even those wishing her harm.
