NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / center - Trashcan(s) outdoors?

Can we get a couple trash cans placed outdoors in Center?

One somewhere near the pawner, and or the crossroads of Center would be ideal.

I'm willing to take on the job of adding it and sending the area back too.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Wood & Metal CNR difficulty to aquire

Most of the wood CNR is in bunches and understandably "guarded". What about a random tree of Hickory and Oak, maybe even Mahogany (on the higher end continents) placed around Mistone, Dregar, Alindor, Belinara etc? Im talking 1 tree versus now where most places trees are in pairs, or groups. Places that are not hard to get to... but also not super close to the crafting halls.

The same could apply to Metal ore, & minerals. We have caves etc that are virtually empty of CNR aside from say some dead fleas & bat poo. LOL Why not stick 1 Iron node in cave "X" that has no CNR, a Silver node in another etc.

Giving us more options of places to go and gather... or... while we are out exploring we can say... hey look! An oak tree! let me gather a few branches, or down in a cave... say, this Iron deposit looks promising.... since we're here might as well pick away at it.

The most someone can get from one ore or wood node is 11 (I think) and the least they can get is 1. So I dont see a few extra CNR deposits placed alone in new places being a big deal. Besides we all already know the gear system is kinda broken when it comes to demand since stuff lasts forever... so let the small time people have their shot at material too. Just single nodes with little difficulty... versus now where its multiple nodes and you gotta earn it by beating the mobs.

Could we put a simple addition to the dialogue of the ship captains.

Example.

Right now I can choose "Mariners Hold" from the Port Hempsted ship captain. Could we get it and others to change to be more like this.

Mariners Hold - Alindor

Giving folks an idea of what continent they are about to sail to. It's something people would know, should know anyway right?  Unless they just like to pick destinations at random. LOL

I take this for granted since Ive known where the boats go for years now... but it really can be confusing for new players.

Quests Ideas and Discussion / Points of Interest idea

Players of Layonara know of the Points of Interest spread out across the continents. But I admit even I have just now discovered some of them after several years of time here.

What about a way to drop clues about these P.O.I's? I was thinking like quick blurbs from the town criers, or even say a painting on the wall of a tavern that mentioned some locale etc...

Fixed Bugs / Copper Throwing axe failure

Not sure if this would be considered a bug or a CNR suggestion (so move if needed)

Crafting Copper Throwing axes takes the following

9 Ingots of Copper
2 Hickory Shafts
2 Small Molds

If you fail you get 1 Mangled copper back. I cannot say if this is the same for the other Crafted Throwing Axe recipes (Bronze, iron, etc.)... but I would guess it is.

Most weapon (and armor) crafting I believe you get roughly 1/2 the metal back on a failed attempt. I would like to request the same for Copper Throwing Axes (and the other throwing axe recipes)... In the the case of an odd number like 9 going in 4 mangled would (should) be returned on failure to maintain consistency.

When crafting a miners pick axe or wood axe... rolling a 20 will make an Exceptional Miners Pick or Exceptional Woodaxe.

Each would have an Enhancement bonus of +1. Allowing them to be more useful than the regular ones in beating the DR of the Rock or Tree. They would also be in demand since they would break just like the normal counterparts and need to be replaced. We cant have a separate break % for them can we? I have several characters that mine and chop wood... even if the break % was the same on these Exceptional ones. I would pursue getting them or making them.

Fixed Bugs / Bronze Banded Mail - Wrong Skill Bonus

Description: Bronze Banded Mail has a +3 Concentration Skill Bonus. Every other Banded Mail suit offers +3 to Discipline (ive checked in the toolset)

Verified:

Reproducable: It is what is in our toolset. So yes every suit crafted or dropped should reflect the wrong Skill Bonus

Description: Bronze Chain Mail armor is missing the +3 Discpiline that every other Chain Mail suit offers (ive checked in the toolset every CNR Chain Mail Suit but Bronze offers +3 Discipline)

Reproducable: It is what is in our toolset. So yes every suit crafted or dropped should reflect the missing +3 Discipline

General Discussion / NWN character creation issue / crash

This is a new one for me... upon trying to create a new character in NWN. When I get to the tab to choose a portrait the game freezes and crashes. In the past I always noticed a significant pause as I assumed it loaded the rather large portrait folder. But now it does not com out of it and show me all the portraits I can choose from. It just ends up telling me NWN stopped responding or something along those lines. I know this is a very recent thing too.. less than a month ago I could make a character with no crash. To my knowledge I havent updated or changed anything major since it worked last.

Any ideas to remedy this?


Some of my system specs.
Windows 7 64 bit
AMD Athlon II X2 250 3Ghz processor
Geforce GTX 560 Ti with 1MB of GDDR5
5 Gigs of memory

Trade and Market Hall / Exceptional Belt of Cunning - Auction

Just added to the display case at Enzo's bow shop is an Exceptional Belt of Cunning. Thomas McStumbletoe (the shop-keep at Enzo's shop) goes on to explain how this belt exceeds its lesser, or normal counterpart in several ways.

A note next to the belt states that we are taking bids now and the opening bid amount will be 10,000 True coin.

This belt will soon be on display at 155 Folians Vale, in the Silkwood forest.

Rumour Has It / Orc encounter at Saddlebag Pawnshop in Haven City

Dot enters the pawnshop ready to do inventory and catch up on sales. In the main hall stands an orc (Gulduz). Axe hefted on his shoulder. Dot confronts him but there seems to be a language barrier. After some posturing and chest puffing Gulduz approaches Dot and reaches for her hand (arm). Dot tries to recoil but fails and he grabs her. So (naturally for Dot) she responds with a punch. Gulduz falls back in a heap, knocked out cold..... Dot drags him out the front door and tosses him into the street. She whistles loudly as Warrant Officer Kit passes. Telling Kit that this Orc came at Dot and grabbed her in the pawnshop and that she knocked him out and tossed him out into the street.

(having no DM around no one played Kits reaction... im curious as to what it would have been.)

Gulduz came to and mumbled in some broken common about Dot being a strong human and his ancestors would not forget her and many gifts would come to her. Then Gulduz headed south towards the Desert.


//Dot doesnt know Gulduz by name or vise versa. But Gulduz was still lying on the ground when Dot called Kit over.

Though this series of stories we will learn how Dot learned all the skills required in becoming a WM.

Lesson 1 - Intimidate +4

Dot having grown up in the back alleys of Vehl as a lowly street rat. Learned at a young age that in order to survive she would need to be strong. Strong enough to take what she needed to survive. Be it by physical force or by just the right words delivered in the right way. She learned watching others in local taverns and on the streets... the ones who talked loudest rarely would back it up with real results. Which one is more intimidating? The person yelling and puffing his chest screaming in your face.... "IM GONNA BEAT YOUR HEAD IN IF YOU DON'T DO AS I SAY!" or... the person with the blank cold stare who says in a calm almost factual sounding tone.... "I'm gonna beat your head in if you dont do what I say"

This lesson Dot took to heart... she recalls one of her first "Blade for hire" jobs involved collecting a debt from a man in Ft. Wayfare. He owed a few hundred Trues wagering losses at the Ft. Vehl arena. Dot took the job and sought out the man. She found him in Ft. Wayfare and confonted him... he said he had no intention of paying his debt and that the fights were rigged. Dot looked him over... he was a short, balding, chubby man. She placed a hand to the hilt of her sword (Bastard Sword) and simply replied (in a cold emotionless voice). Im bringing your debt back with me to Vehl.... it is up to you to decide how. You can just be a few hundred true lighter, or watch your blood spill out before you as you take your last breath.... and then be a few hundred true lighter. The man gave a loud gulping sound as he swallowed. A very shakey hand holding a coin purse reached out towards Dot, causing the amount of coin inside it to jingle. Dot snatched the coin and left without another word.

I, Enzo Reynolt am seeking a new bow to draw back the string on. My fathers mighty bow has served me well for more years that I ever expected it would. I feel I can handle something with a bit more skill to it now though yet I have never found anything in my years of travel that surpasses it (excluding elf specific bows)

If you know of such a bow Or if you even have knowledge of such bows that I could try and obtain myself (like CDQ or what-not) please do contact me.

//Enzo has been using what is basically a renamed Yew Compound bow with a Mighty 3 on it since sometime in 2004... Now granted... when he recieved the bow I was told by Leanthar himself that it would be the best bow I saw for a long time. Im wondering if that time has indeed expired yet? LOL ;) Enzo is human/ranger cleric. So he cant use those elf (pointy ear) bows. ;)

Ask A Gamemaster / Pick up a deleted character?

1. Is their a way to pick up someones character they have chosen to delete? Meaning is it logistically possible in NWN.

2. Would the Staff ever consider allowing it?


Kind of an odd request I know... but at the same time it has merit I think. The character wasnt what you had hoped or just wasnt getting played so you let it go. Maybe someone else out there would take on the character.

Drawbacks?

Someone instantly becoming "X" level. So make the system only be for say level 10 and lower. Most here agree (i hope) 8 to 10 is not to tough to get to. Or knock them back to level 1 and place them in the character vault?

The old owner complaining that the character isnt being played right. Well you gave it up so you kinda gave up the rights to say on that.

A person gaining all the money, items, etc that the released character had. Maybe give the character a wipe of all non equipped items. What about money?

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Traveling Salesman idea.

Long ago we had a "Traveling Salesman" He/she never traveled though. They seemed to like the Forest of Fog (Mist back then). THey sold a few unique items. As I recall nothing that was uber world altering gear. Just things that made you go.. Hmm thats kinda cool I might use that.

I was kicking around an idea to revamp and bring back a traveling salesman/woman.

Pick about 8 to 12 locations this "traveling salesman/woman" would spawn...or be placed once per reset or when GM's could get around to it. Now that we have such asesome server stability maybe even move them a couple times per 300 hour plus up time. (all up to if the GM's have time of course).

The salesman/woman would have about 6 to 10 items they would sell. But they would draw from a pool of say 20 to 40 items... Thus making what they had for sale appear to change up a bit each time they are in a new area to sell their goods. Again not Uber items... No plus 5 weapons, or Save vs death with a DC 30 type stuff. Unique items that make you go... Hmm... I might use that, or I could see using that in "x" situation. And "fun items" that really wont change the world as far as making someone an uber 1 man army. But maybe do some neat affect, appearance, etc.
