Layonara Server / Housing Sweep -- 2016 Edition
« on: August 18, 2016, 11:30:15 pm »
Better late than never, I suppose! Here goes my first pass. For tradition and fairness, I'm going to list these here and give people a chance to a) lay claim or b) get their stuff out before the house is emptied and put back on the market.104 -- Galathea Arnaduillae
112 -- Asher Hardrock
122-- Ni'haer Barrit'tar
124 -- Lareth Vathach
131 -- Galen Iraes
136 -- Argali Trueaxe
138 -- Log Lightrunner
140 -- Twixel
142 -- Riley Alexander
143 -- Hanta Deshaldi
149 -- Elgon In'Darsus
150 -- Gormungard Boulderanvil
154 -- Ender Sai
156 -- Iradril Arkenrahel
174 -- Chakar Achmed El'Mujahir
175 -- Klaugraquene Dragonbane
179 -- Nex Jinkai
181 -- Calylith Eluchil
185 -- Starr Saphire
196 -- Azk'a Thunderaxe
203 -- Unther Hardhammer
204 -- Xanya Enyafailm
205 -- Grohin Silveraxe
206 -- Fehriel Cailomel
210 -- Drachus Vachar
217 -- Sein Alinds
221 -- Boon Loom
230 -- Gunther N'diknik
241 -- Abiorn Rukrym
246 -- Durgen Stormbrow
260 -- Wren Thendor
This is a preliminary list. None of these characters have been seen in over two (2) years.Houses numbered in the 100's are either on Mistone or Alindor. Houses numbered in the 200's are largely on Dregar, though there are exceptions.NOTE: Potentially defunct guild halls are not listed. If I have mistakenly added a guild hall to this list, I will remove it, though defunct guild halls will be handled in some way at some point. They may be returned to the market and priced like houses according to their physical size at some later date. You may wonder what constitutes a valid claim on one of these houses. Primarily, either there's some long-term residence involved or a significant relationship (i.e. marriage, parent/child, etc.). In the case one of these houses is the hall of an active guild, but the owner is absent, the property can be transferred to one of the current active guild members. As mentioned in a previous thread, an open portal in a strategic location is not sufficient reason to maintain an otherwise empty or un-used house. In order to lay claim, put in a grievance/request for the transfer. It is not a guarantee we'll grant the request, but we will investigate and see if it is appropriate. To keep the process moving, we will only entertain claims for a period of two (2) weeks, after which any unclaimed houses will be emptied and placed back on the market. Any existing keys to these houses will no longer work after that point. If there are any questions, please ask below.

Trade and Market Hall / Are These Your Boots?
« on: August 16, 2016, 01:44:09 pm »
A badly sketched impression of them graces a parchment in charcoal, looking like a pair of stockings. There are several arrows around them pointing to them, in case the viewer was in doubt about the subject, and around the arrows are question marks, in case anyone else doubted that she really wants to know. Below is a lengthy explanation scrawled and smeared in ink. You were an anonymous bidder at Charm's Auction that I outbid on some very nice stalking boots in order to make sure they were really the ones you wanted, borrowing you know, and anyway it was really rather exciting because I've never had enough gold to bid in an auction before, except no one ever told me who had actually wanted the boots and so I never found you in order to sell them back to you AND the purchase really rather beggared me and also if we are being perfectly honest the gold wasn't exactly mine to begin with, so it would be wondrous if the person who wanted Folian's Stalking Boots would come forward and reimburse me, because they are just far too large for me and anyhow footwear except footies makes me trip over everything. THANKS

Layonara Server / Housing Cleanup?
« on: July 12, 2016, 03:31:50 am »
Hey there! Not sure if this is feasable, but I do remember that in past years there was an occasional sort of clean up of all the inactive houses on the server, to make room for active players looking for houses. As far as I can tell (and I may be mistaken) one of these sweeps has not been done in a while, and to my knowledge, there isn't a single house avalible in all of Mistone. I did a run through and found none from the Hlint, Leringard, or Krandor real estate offices, although those are the only ones I could think of off of the top of my head.I know that getting together a list of inactive houses is probably a big job for the team and so I would be willing to help out in compiling a list of all houses whos owners haven't logged in in 12 months (that seemed to be the standard from the last sweeps, from what I found on the forums), but I think it would be nice to get some houses cleared up, if possible. Thanks,
Teo

Just for Fun / Coming This Summer -- Playable Legendary Characters
« on: April 02, 2016, 02:06:33 am »
Have you ever wondered what Moraken is really like? Have you ever wondered why Xora is so feared and respected? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have the might and power of Sinthar Bloodstone?Wonder no longer. We are pleased to announce that this summer we will be releasing the first batch of our Playable Legendary Characters (PLCs). This is something we've been quietly working on for a while now, and the time has come to give you a bit of a preview. Please note this list is what we're intending to have available, though this list could change by the time summer rolls around:
  • Play as Moraken, Xora, Bloodstone, Queen Allurial, Xandrial, Drezneb, Eon or Milara
  • Will not impact your maximum character count; play as many as you want.
  • Play these characters as currently designed, with all abilities, equipment, resistances and immunities
  • Freely usable for all purposes: RP, questing, adventuring, crafting, etc.
  • Level-up your PLCs as high as Level 60
  • Special, unique abilities unlocked at level 40 and every 5 levels thereafter
  • Unique "pets" and/or summons for each PLC
  • Immunity to Soul Strand loss
  • Private bindstones/spawn points
  • Usable/destructible Bloodpools
  • "Strategic Recall" device, which can be used to escape combat or other deadly situation
  • Includes instanced "lair" (similar to player housing) which can be customized plus 100 free placeables included
  • Includes full "domain" of each Legendary Character (i.e. Milara's hordes of Unliving, Eon's golems, etc.), freely usable on quests or with other GM interaction (direct spawning planned for a later release)
  • Lay siege to towns and cities.
  • Terrorize other characters (PvP rules suspended for and against PLCs, though griefing rules still apply)
  • Introduction of "bane" weapons/items, to which a specific PLC is vulnerable (i.e. the Shadow Blade which was used to destroy Bloodstone)
This will be available to all players. In the future, we hope to expand this offering somewhat. Some of our plans include options to play as Molvaren, Black Wizard Grand Master (yet to be named), Jaedon Siphe, Cyn Chen, Rainstorff, Lord Rael and various other well-known figures. Though we'll be a little more selective about this, we're looking into the feasibility of opening up the heads of the various religious faiths. However, as these NPCs have not even been created in the toolset, there's still some balancing and other considerations to be made. That's it for now!

Rumour Has It / Destination Camp Ubiquitous Glyph
« on: January 17, 2016, 03:56:32 pm »
A few hastily written "Seeking Minders" notices are placed in a few key locations, and a few birds are sent out to a few key acquaintances. All of them are hazy on both destination and reasons, speaking only of "matters of life and death" and "dire import" and warning of "possible battles with immortals or rifts into other planes of being" with requests to meet at the "Spikey Camp in the Snowlands" past the "stupid goblin caves after kobold territory where desperate miners chip gems when there are matters of life and death to attend to" with enough supplies to "reach Toran's uplifted nose."Many are the underlines emphasizing utter emergency, and those familiar with the author are likely to be surprised - who could have imagined her previous examples of handwriting were not the worst she had to offer?

((Will be at the Great Spikes camp just after the goblin caves at 5:00 PST tonight (the 17th), but will not be leaving until around 5:30PST

Looking at 5:30-8:30 tonight, tomorrow night, and Wednesday night, and whatever can be managed after that as long as necessary.

Please bring your expedition RP and remember

there are often very long distances between areas[/li]
  • food-fire-shelter is needed to live[/li]
  • Even if a kind DM ports you out to play between, please RP that you never left[/li]
  • If anyone wants to gather before/aftertimes just to hang out and RP at camps, that is also awesome and I am down for that - this time window is just for moving))[/li][/list]

    General Discussion / Multi-day trip?
    « on: January 16, 2016, 12:01:57 pm »
With the server status as it is, I thought perhaps it was not so great a sacrifice to lock up a character for a couple days and perhaps I could sell enough people on a long excursion! ;)I went last night to check out a place I know most people haven't been and remembered (once she got there) that is was behind the Kuhl checkpoints. (Acacea hopped the barricades and never stopped running, but this is beside the point.) For some reason I started rambling, I just wanted to know if enough people would be up for a (different) 2-3 day trip, preferably today-tomorrow-Monday (being stuck would not be an issue, even without DM!) but we could always hash it out if notice is too short, I guess... That said, my new place of internet access has been extremely unpredictable in its accessibility, heh. I will be out until early PST afternoon today but was thinking of starting this evening, maybe ...6ish? PST? 5? Suggestions welcome, heh. All levels would be welcome, but they would also probably die. hehe.If anyone is only interested depending on the location, this would be a Deep trek from one end to the other, which itself starts out with a long trip through Firelight. Someone who remembers the way would be nice. *cough* If enough people are interested I will give them a reason to be there.

    Layonara Server / Holiday Notice
    « on: December 09, 2015, 08:56:44 pm »
Greetings fellow Layonarans! The holiday season is upon us once again. As a result, time is usually a precious commodity for everyone, including our GM Team. As such, the lack of quest events will likely persist until the last part of the month at least. Please bear with us during this busy time. For those who have characters corrupted by the recent server problems, we'll be getting with you on the matter of restoration.  For those of you wanting a restoration of your items, it would be helpful to us if you were to prepare a list of your equipment to the best of your memory. We're prepared to consider all good-faith requests in this situation. On the flip side of things, we are intending to to hold another bonus event starting December 26th and likely continuing throughout the month of January.Enjoy!

Rumour Has It / News from the "Bean Counters"
    « on: October 17, 2015, 09:08:52 pm »
The clerks and accountants for the Angel’s Guild begin to make some disturbing reports to Ferrit. Some of the institutions and individuals that the guild maintains lines of credit with have reported being contacted by agents of an unknown financial broker who is seeking to purchase Angel’s Guild debt at a significant discount… essentialy coin on the spot for accounts receivable.  Due to the liquidity of guild accounts and assets and no overdue payments, there is no indication of any transactions actually being made.

General Discussion / GM Team Soliciting Some Assistance
    « on: September 23, 2015, 02:56:54 pm »
As you well know, the GM team is currently stretched a little thin. We are in the process of updating and fixing bad or missing information in LORE. This is important to keep the world current and relevant... especially for new players. If any of you have the time or inclination we could use your help in finding things that need to be worked on. (A hundred eyes are better than just a few) This will assist greatly in cataloging what needs to be addressed and will assist in prioritizing our efforts.Perhaps we need to discuss making this a contest to see who can find the most issues?? ;-)Please use this thread to respond and post in the following format: Title of the page or subjectWeb page addressShort description of what needs to be fixed Thanks,-Rave

Everyone, this is just a quick notice!GM Tanman is running an event tonight. He is one of our time zone challenged GM's due to location in the real world in relation to the majority of the player base. Although I cannot make it myself due to spending my alotted Layo time in quest earlier today (Wife Enforced)... I want to take this opportunity to reach out to all of you and personally urge you to take a little time out of your busy RL, if you have it available, to take part. He is talented and you will not be disappointed. The more GM's we can keep active and engaged, the more there is for all of you to experience in this beautiful role-playing world. We are making an attempt to put many more events on the calendar, and player involvement is the largest motivator for us on the GM side of things. We need you as much as you need us! :-)-Rave

    UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    We are not closed, however...

All wood items must be picked up at the Angels Guild Hall in Port Hempstead. Please contact any Angel Guild member to make arrangements. We appreciate your continued patronage during this latest trouble.

People with information about the disturbance in Hempstead Fields are encouraged to find an Angels Guild representative. Adventuring types doubly so.

    Thank you,

    The Angels Guild

//Visitors to the shop will note that most of the wood appears to be rotting or in bad repair, including the floors, doors, and walls. The wooden chests have been swept empty of instruments, bows, staves, arrows, books, and all other wood-based items; metal and cloth items are on metal racks. Expensive and magical items have been removed or relocated to solid metal chests. The rear entry and door to the back room are in the process of being replaced with metal, but as the surrounding framework is wood, it's a patchwork radiating protections to the magic-sensitive.

Rumour Has It / Disturbances in the Al'Noth
    « on: September 09, 2015, 08:40:17 pm »

Rumors circulate through some circles that disturbances in the Al'Noth have begun to appear and disappear randomly. Those "in the know" have been advised to keep their eyes open for them as they can be unpredictable and dangerous...

//If a player finds AND repairs one of the anomalies; let me know via an IC post to this thread describing the harrowing event. It will be worth 1 fortune point.
