Introduce Yourself / Re: Do my characters still exist?
« on: July 11, 2023, 02:52:12 am »
If you did not request a character deletion, they are still lurking around. I just did a quick check for Cherry Sherry Butterfly and she is indeed still around. The others should be as well.

Introduce Yourself -- Game Masters / Re: GM Ravemore

An Additional Note:

I will often incorporate what I call forum roleplay into my open quests. This takes the form of a Topic posted that IC actions and descriptions can be posted to. It is sort of an offline, turn based form of roleplay in between in-game quest sessions. It will often develop things or set the stage for the in-game action.

Rumour Has It / Vengeance for a Slight
« on: November 05, 2022, 10:03:41 pm »
Stygian is weaving his way among the stalls of the Leringard market looking for interesting odds and ends. He is nibbling out of a small bowl of shaved ice covered in blackberry syrup. While licking the wooden spoon he is abruptly bumped by a burly man wearing the badge of a member of the dockworker’s guild and his shaved ice tumbles to the ground. He stares at it for a few minutes… anger rising in him like a furnace being coaxed to life. The man growls at Stygian “Stay out of my way little man.” Stygian smiles. “Forgive me sir. I should have been paying closer attention to my surroundings. I was looking for rare magical items masquerading as mundane junk. Luckily, I found a few…” He pauses as the large man shows immediate interest and he responds... “I wish I could find something magical to bring that shrew of a wife of mine to heel.” Stygian smiles. There is an evil glint in his eye that almost dissuades the large man… almost. Stygian says, "my name is Adder, and for a simple bowl of shaved ice with some blackberry syrup I’ll provide you the cure for your unfortunate marital situation. No other charge.” The man turns and hurriedly makes his way to the shaved ice vendor.

When the man returns with Stygian’s bowl of shaved ice, they head to a nearby alleyway for some privacy. Stygian extends his hand and opens it. Inside is a small leather pouch. “There is a magical dust inside this pouch. When your wife is in the kitchen cutting up the meat for your dinner, pour this dust into your palm and toss it into the air in a way that it will cover both of you… then tell her how you feel about her being a shrew. I assure you, things will resolve themselves.” The man takes the pouch with a grunt and quickly leaves without so much as a thank you. *Stygian chuckles as he leaves and wonders how things will turn out with all that Star Dust of Grand floating in the air in such a small room full of cutlery.

Introduce Yourself / Great to be Back!!
« on: October 30, 2022, 04:23:59 pm »
I would like to thank everyone for all of the warm “welcome backs” in game and Discord. Coming back to Layonara after so many years has been a treat. Sort of like seeing family after a long absence. Looking forward to spending more time in game becoming familiar with the locations, experiencing the changes, and spreading the evil of Corath across the lands once more.

Trade and Market Hall / Re: Angels Guild--Adventure Outfitters

*A poorly scrawled note is left in the greater jewelry case*

Took dragonscale bracers and left proper true per your standards.

I also took three greater resistances, electrical, fire and acid. Belt of the Battlemage taken. Do you wish true or trade?

An emerald amulet and ring taken. Unsure who they belong to. I left a few similar in their place, and some more emeralds. Hopefully they'll be put to use better than in my pockets. If a problem, or if wanting true, or more gems, or anything, send bird. I may be back within the season. Probably not. But maybe. Probably so.

Hi,
I guess I was mistaken, there is a nameplate on it with Bron Skallagrimsson's name (only visable if other toons check, not Bron).
If this house ends up being Crimson Company for a long period of time then I'd like that nameplate changed to Crimson Company (if that's easy). But for now this is fine.
Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Hide in Plain Sight (Ranger)

Does Light effects from items or the Light spell have any adverse effect on Ranger HIPS?

No, not anymore, it used to do that with the old script, but as far as I've seen it doesn't affect it any longer (Feh has a permanent green light on his dual blade and he is still able to use hips), remember last time we went to fight in the GF you asked Feh to show himself, I was armed at that moment so I had a light source.

I've tried it a few times with Gumbo with no buffs and he always gets noticed.  He has better luck in the same areas when he buffs up his hide and ms.  But the unbuffed hips should ( if working) give the same or better results.  IMO its bugged.

Would depend on your score. Hips is dependent on the hide score, the higher you have it and the better it will be, also dependent on where you are doing it. In a city or in a building, it won't work.

Orth has indeed modified the feat. It is no longer the layo custom script. It is an adapted version of the shadow dancer script. It will indeed work only in wilderness, but I think it also works underground (cave and such) haven't tested it thoroughly underground.

Instead of taking a second of complete inaction to activate, it activates exactly like it would for the shadow dancer, and with that you can use it in combat too.

Thanks, mitonyorkcastle; yes, last week Ysh connected with Sehky online, in character, and he's taken her on as an apprentice, in the Tower Academy,  teaching her the path of the Arcane Archer!

Hey there,

sorry for the delay on this, but as you are resubmitting Nate for a Prestige Class that is considered as "complex", it will take us some time to carefully read through the original submission, the CDT and exchange several thoughts between each other before we come up with a reply. It would have helped if you included a link to Nate's journal and original submission as well.

We approve Nate for CDQ(s) to take assassin levels. Please find a GM to run this and point them to this thread. Keep in mind that taking a CDQ does not guarantee approval right away. There is always a chance of failure when trying to take on a complex PrC.

Development Journals and Discussion / Among the back alleys...
« on: April 09, 2021, 09:38:19 pm »
...all through Vehl and Arnax street runners pass messages that a Lord Gronk of Vehl is looking for mercenaries comfortable with wetwork to drop a bird to the innkeeper of the Harpy or a dockworker in Arnax.

"Little scamp," thinks Naldin, as a street urchin ducks past him, having just passed the news on to a mean looking half-orc who was in the process of voiding his lunch over the flag stones of the back alley behind Miggin's Mug. Needless to say, the half-orc was not in the mood for interaction with anyone at this time, and had tried to give the urchin half his mind before heaving violently again.

"Lord Gronk, eh?" He might have a pretty penny or two thought Naldin. Yes, he was definitely going to have to find all about this Lord Gronk, and his relationships in this nest of vipers that is Fort Vehl. Who were his "friends"? Well, allies at least. More importantly, who are his enemies?

Naldin looked over to see the half-orc had collapsed flat on the floor, his eyes rolled back in his head, his tongue sticking out. Yes, the poison Naldin had dripped into the half-orc's meal had worked quite well.

Naldin pushed his trolley-cart over to the fallen half-orc. With a practised motion, he heft the half-orc's body up and into the empty cart, then drew the hinged lid shut across the top. Naldin stooped in his ragged clothes, once more becoming the itinerant rag and bone man, pushing his knife sharpening cart about the streets of Vehl.

Vrebel can cast 9th lvl in combat with no fail.  He has a umd iof 33.  I  based it on the formula in wiki:  25 + 9 =34 to cast 9th lvl spells.  In combat you don't get to take a natural 20 on rolls.

Rumour Has It / Report - Deep dwarves spotted in the Silk Wood
« on: April 02, 2021, 08:00:05 pm »
*Hank Everdale, Priest of Toran, submits an urgent report to the Toranite Temple in Ft. Llast which reads as follows:*

Sirs, I Hank Everdale Priest of Toran hereby report a scirmish my friend, Tipsy Oak, and I had with deep dwarves in the Silk Wood near the witch house.  We were on our way to mine in the nearby cave and ran into at least five well trained deep dwarves.  After loosing both our oxen to the deep dwellers we tactically retreated to Hlint.  We were approached by some unsavory mercs who we begrudgingly allowed to help us track down the intruders.  The deep dwarves were found and put down after a heated and well fought battle.

I hereby request that you send a search party in the area to track down any stragglers, find where they broke surface and put out a warning to would be travelers to that area.

In the service of Toran,

Hank Everdale

Once Lia hears news of Angela's further interest, she thinks to herself, 'I wonder how many more favors I can attain from our notable pirate queen.'

She then considers quietly, "Perhaps Eileanora does have reason to fear me.  I will have to start getting cozy with her."
