Fixed Bugs / BattleRager - ImprovedKnockdown
« on: September 19, 2007, 06:57:30 am »
Description: The class [LORE]BattleRager[/LORE] does not receive improved knockdown at level 4.
Quote

    * Level 1
          o Battle Rage 1x/day
          o Resist Poison
          o Skill Focus: Intimidate
    * Level 2
          o Aura of Courage
          o Knockdown
    * Level 3
          o Battle Rage 2x/day
          o Improved Unarmed Strike
    * Level 4
          o Great Cleave
          o Improved Knockdown
    * Level 5
          o Armor Skin
          o Battle Rage 3x/day

Location: Layonara

Verified: Yes.  Problem exists on [LORE]Jacrum Shieldbreaker[/LORE] and [LORE]Varka Cleaveson[/LORE].

Reproducable: Yes.  I added to the layo hacks to another module and deleveled Jacrum then releveled him.  The result was the same.  Only GreatCleave and not Improved Knockdown was received at level 4.  I also checked what feats Jacrum received at later levels.  At battle rager level 5 Jacrum received AmourSkin, and a feat named 'Samurai'.  Samurai appears to function as BattleRage x3 per day.

Related Bugs: This may be related to the Battle Rage bug.  http://forums.layonara.com/bug-reports/118572-battle-rage.html

The Bardic Joke

Quote
What is the difference between Corath and Toran?

Say the Toranites were seeking a treasure, a green key perhaps.
They would use the gem as it was meant to be, in a proper and structured order.
Meanwhile the Corathites would rush ahead and argue how to pervert its use at a party.
During the party the biggest Corathite would kill two of the others.
The remaining two would agree his plan to pervert the gem was fullproof.
Their dilemma is...if they ever found it...
For the leader would likely proved wrong and put to the sword,
and so if they got close he would probably kill off the others.
The Toranites might eventually get out of their committee room and actually find it

Fixed Bugs / Death-Timer / LORE death info
« on: August 24, 2007, 06:05:49 am »
It appears that the Death time is no longer 10 minutes * character level.

A party of two level 13 characters and one level 9 character died fighting bandits.  The number of reflections:
  • for the level 13 characters was 25 times,
  • for the level 9 character it was 17 times.

The death system needs to be clarified by someone in the know, and the information updated on lore.

[LORE]http://lore.layonara.com/Death%20System[/LORE]

If you respawn, you will have a -4 to all your Ability Scores (Strength, Dexterity etc) for Character's Level Times 10 minutes, until you rest after being told you can rest and reflect a final time.

Introduce Yourself / Stragen
« on: June 18, 2007, 03:52:13 am »
I live in Adelaide Australia.  I found NWN in December 2005 when I was looking for a roleplaying game to play with my friends on a visit to Perth.  The idea of role-playing without needing Pen/Paper and rulebook appealed to me as something different.  I found NWN and then began looking into online roleplaying.  After a few non-RPG servers I found Layonara and was impressed.  I have played Layonara full-time since Jan 2006.

My roleplaying background is mainly using GURPS, with various worlds, campaigns and characters.   I haven’t done much table-top roleplaying in the last decade, usually once every two years or so.

For the last eight and a half years I have worked as a research engineer for a large organization.  I have a pretty good job with lots of travel, and every project is different.  However, like Dilbert I sit in a cubicle.

I play basketball socially 3 times a week.  I occasionally go to the gym to keep my ageing body fit enough to keep playing basketball.  However I am one year younger then Scotcar.

I am married with one child.  My greatest achievement is my one year old daughter.

You may have met my current characters in game; Jin Lun Lee, Jake Saltpetre, or Jacrum Shieldbreaker.   Both Jin and Jake are now 18 months old.  Jacrum is the baby at 6 months.

There is a running theme in all my current and past Layonara characters.  Try and guess it.

I am really enjoying this game.  There is a small but great collection of Aussie roleplayers and gamemasters.

I plan to stick around as long as possible.

ShadowHawk Outlaw Weapons v1.0.7
NOW WITH WEAPONS FEATS!

ShadowHawk Outlaw Weapons v1.0.7 -- Neverwinter Nights 2 Vault

It appears that this is the source of the Custom Weapons in the CEP.  It also appears that at some stage custom weapon feats were added.  Does anyone know if these custom weapon feats work?  Can this be added to Layonara?

It would be... cool.

Fixed Bugs / Battle Rage

Bug Report

Description: Use of Battle Rage incurrs a -2 AC penalty.  This differs from the description of LORE.   Other functionality is the same as described in Lore.

LORE: Battle Rage
Quote
Specifics: The Battlerager may rage, gaining a +4 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution and +2 to all Will saving throws. The Battlerager may use this ability 1x/day at 1st level, 2x/day at 3rd level, and 3x/day at 5th.

Possible Side Symptom:  In game the first level of Battle Rage is denoted "Battle Rage 2x/day" instead of "Battle Rage/1x" day.  However, It does  function only once per day.

Location: Tested using character Jacrum Shieldbreaker in Port Hempstead and at various locations around Mistone and Dregar.

Verified: Requested character Varka Cleaveson to test and -2 AC penalty and this was verified.

Reproducable: Yes.  Occurs every time.

Wild Surge Inn / Erk
« on: April 03, 2007, 04:01:23 am »
Dear Friends,

I have the sad news to inform you that the Good Dwarf Erk was killed in battle fighting Fisterion, Ancient King of the Dragons.

His death was one of great bravery in a time of chaos and destruction.  His actions surely saved the lives of others.

He will be greatly missed by friends and companions.  His deeds hold true as a follower of Vorax, and his legend and name will not be forgotten.

In faith and hope,

Jin Lun Lee
Servant of the Longstrider.

Some recent private messages I have been sent have been truncated.  These messages are from Dezza.  The missing text is always after the quote from the original message.

This has made it very difficult to communicate.  Dezza can you post here and say if you were using word or any other text editor to format the messages.

Fixed Bugs / Fort Vehl Outskirts
« on: March 26, 2007, 08:18:30 pm »
Firstly:  I really like how the mercs in Fort Vehl outskirts roam all over the place.  In fact I would like to see more of this AI.

However,  I would request that the first set of spawns just outside the Fort Vehl to Fort Vehl Outskirts be moved deeper into area.  This should help reduce the number of Mercs dragged throught the transition.

As this is the first transistion from starting location it might be worthwhile to reduce the level/difficulty of the mercs...  If the goal is to make them equivalent to the old Hlint goblins (or even the old mercs) that used be around Hlint.  Currently they are far far tougher then the starting creatures that used to be around Hlint.

Second:  I would request that the zombies in gloomwoods be (slightly) increased in level/difficulty.  As this area is further from the starting point, I feel it should be more difficult.   Further the current difficulty of this area doesn't match the description on entering the area.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / PRC Server based character creator
« on: March 21, 2007, 08:00:53 pm »
Quote from: Acacea
True!

I like the PRC server conversation character creator though...! They have new base classes and races (whose benefits are base stats, not magical effects), but because haks aren't loaded first, you usually need a client-side local character creator...but they made a server-one, too. Which makes me happy. Sort of. It would, if I were using it anywhere. :P The idea makes me happy! There we go.

It works in that you basically click recommended for everything in the Bioware creation, set your appearance if you want, and then you create your character with an in-game conversation, instead, so that everything is still in the hands of the server.

There is a downside in that if you set everything up the first time, you still have to do it again in the conversation even if you were happy with the standard stuff, but that's why you're supposed to make sure no one puts all the effort into the wrong creation, hehe.

Having never seen or used the PRC I don't know the amount of work involved but... I think this would be great for Layonara.  I'm not saying that Layonara should have all the classes in the PRC, as there are far to many classes.  But including this server side character creator might add more value and flexibility to the world.

Acacea, Developers,

How difficult is the character creator for new players to use?

How hard is it to include the PRC into Layo?

How hard would it be to modify the character creator to limit it to Layo allowed classes and feats only?

Would it be possible to add Layo-Flavour backgrounds to the selection of feats at character creation?  Eg
  • Northern Tribesman from Krashin or Bastil +1 cold saving throws, +1 intimidate.
  • Craftsman of Dorand +5% craft experince.

It appears that there are other benefits as well, such as having racial adjustments based on stats.  Maybe addiing an option to select from the Layonara deity list.

Anyway something to think about for the future.

Cheers,

Stragen

Hi Guys,

I am a forum leader, for the Farstrider Pack.  Where can I find a list of the current members of the forum?  I wasn't able to find this functionality in the options pages.   Is this missing?  Or just buried somewhere?

General Discussion / New GMs
« on: February 23, 2007, 06:12:51 pm »
I have really started to notice the new GMs around in the Aussie Timezone slot.  Its been good to get that extra spontanous interaction and mini quests.  It has really started to bring the world to life.  Adding extra NPCs around Hlint to roleplay with.  Even the subtle things, like changing the locations of monsters, and adding more intelligence to their behaviours.  I had a GM adding life to the redlight mines last night.  I really enjoyed it, as did the two other players with me.  They didn't realise that there was a GM involved until one of them received a tell.  They just thought "this Layonara is a great world".  Well actually I couldn't read their minds, but it was great.

My thanks,

Stragen

[yellow]
On the Lielon docks a well dressed figure in bright silks and a flowing cape addresses a large axe-toting woman, this scene seems strangely familar.  He moves close and talks quietly, his words fading in the cold wind.

"Bosun, I don't know where yer been, but it's good ter have yer back.  I be putting together a misson.  Yer axe any good at chopping slavers?  Thar be no gold in this one, just vengence and justice.  We be rescuing slaves from the Silver Cresent, and thar be some freeblades trapped too."

He turns to face the docks, looking at the ships.

"We will need ter get a ship.  I'll see if I can get the Elven Arrow back fer one more mission.  Otherwise we may need ter hire one of these tubs." He shakes his head.

"We will need to pick up a crack crew fer this one. Yer know any Demon Slayers Bosun?"

The Road to Hlint
{The following are notes in Jacrum’s little black notebook, written in Dwarven}

I heard a rumour that there is a dark cult in the town of Hlint.  I am not sure if this is the same cult that is responsible for the disappearance of Clari and Haldamir, but it is a start.  I wrote a letter to my brother Gothim and asked him to meet me there.  I expect his skills as a Priest would come in handy if there truly are dark cults on Mistone.

I arrived in Hlint without a penny to spare.  All I had were a few true, some cheap leather armour, my shield and my axe.  The first task will be to save enough true to buy a suit of Dwarven made metal armour.

My brother and I have been doing chores to help out the locals; delivering letters, skinning rats for the pelts, and goblins for their ears, helping balance the accounts tax-books.  In our spare time we have taken to working the local copper mines.  It seems that my brother Gothim is becoming skilled in the smelting of ore.  Perhaps he will be able to make me a new suit of armour.

I have had much success in finding any leads on the location of Clari and Haldamir.  There is however a strange undertaker by the name of Erag.  I wonder if he is involved with the cultists?  Perhaps if I retrieve the Darksoul Essence for him he will tell me what he knows.  Either that or I show him my axe.

I though Leilon was a multi-cultural cesspool; Hlint is worse.  There was a half-giant by the name of Pig selling booze on the streets.   I don’t think is such a bad thing, but it is a crime that he doesn’t offer samples.  Worse there are Drow roaming the streets pretending to be elves.  I must take care to watch all hooded figure that past by.  There was a female Drow who fooled me into thinking she was an elf.  The evil truth was revealed when she removed her hood.  She drove me into a terrible anger with her insults.  She vanished soon enough when I rushed her with my axe.  A pity she got away, next time I will get her dark ear for my belt.
