General Discussion / Re: How's Everyone Doing?
« on: April 02, 2011, 11:00:36 am »
;) I'll see what I can do, Lonn. I do technically still have one character in my vault that wouldn't require a new submission (But I don't know if I want to do that) as well as permission to remake a new "Rhynn" with no memories (Don't know if I want to do that either).

I'll see how much I can get read on Monday (My long work day where I can't play games but have a PC!) and then try to get the haks reinstalled and look around. I've just been really busy with job searching, and a social life, and DMing on the FR based server that I won't name because last I recalled servers don't take too well to that, I think.

I wonder if I'd still be able to play CN....it's my favorite alignment now ;) Whoul'da thunk?

So, orth, Pankoki, Acacea, Storold...they still around?

Wait..Rael's on YOUR SIDE!?...times..they are a changin'

That's awesome sauce. I don't know if I'll actively be re-downloading the haks though, Very busy looking for a job, doing some pnp DMing, and DMing on another Forgotten Realms based server. It would be weird moving back from Forgotten Realms to a world that is so far removed from it. Though, I will keep it in mind! Playing a Cleric/Sorceress of Mist has always been my intention, if I ever did come back :P

Its good to see some old faces still about, though, and if nothing else I plan to poke around the forums to see just how much has changed in the world.

General Discussion / Re: NWN CD key
« on: March 14, 2011, 09:01:57 am »
Another cool thing you may not know:

If you make your account in the game's multiplayer function (Hit multiplayer and then hit create account) and do the process through there, NWN/Bioware automatically saves your CD keys. I was very thankful for this fact a few months ago when I decided to get back into the NWN Spirit....again.

General Discussion / Re: Answering the Questions
« on: July 17, 2010, 08:58:07 pm »
This was an interesting read. Drizz, as much as we've had misunderstandings along the road,  I can fully understand where you're coming from. After failing my WLDQ, I felt my bitterness towards this server hit its peak. Jason and I left. I still regret it on my part, sometimes.

I know what it can feel like to think that you were failed for this reason, or for that. At the time, I still felt as if I was failed because of previous misunderstandings with the staff, and because of a lack of coordination.

I can say this though; I don't think this direction over the forums is going to lead to any sort of the understanding you want.

Dorg's post above me does make true . You're not told when you're on the wrong track because you don't want to be railroaded.

I will say one thing of Drizz's points. I don't think that a failed WLDQ should be completely thrown away. I think there should be some consequence and recognition for the character for even making the attempt. Not nearly as much as if it was succeeded, but there should be some, and perhaps some sort of consequence that could lead to another attempt.

I don't think this would be too much to ask in turn of a year + worth of activity in the world, and the thought and coordination that went into the quest itself.

:) My 2 long rusted cents.

Also. HAI EVERYBODY

General Discussion / Re: What brought you towards DnD?
« on: February 02, 2010, 08:55:34 am »
NWN was my first, and in that sense, Layonara. The first quest I've ever done was with IceDD =P. I remember I rolled something, and she said "No Dice"  I assumed I wasn't supposed to be rolling...she just meant it didn't work heh.

Anyway, from there I moved out of "original word" D&D, and into Forgotten Realms.

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Ask the Loremaster: Xeen
« on: November 09, 2009, 04:42:21 am »
Xeen was another deity that I always feared would stray too close to something copyrighted (in this case, Sharess) to really be fixed. I'm happy to have been proven wrong. This is an interesting, more extreme, and ultimately neutral borderline evil take on hedonism, and in my opinion, a huge improvement over the Xeen in the past, and what I previously compared her to .

:) Congratulations , for representing a concept better than the acclaimed 'masters'.

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Ask the Loremaster: Vierdri'ira
« on: November 05, 2009, 03:31:21 pm »
You may want to be careful with the word "Valsharess" anywhere within there, seeing as its also what they call Matrons in Drow houses in Forgotten Realms (With Lloth being the Ilharess) . Otherwise, I really like what you did to separate Lloth from Vierdri'ira.

Story behind that: Jason started singing Squishy the magic beholder....Just that one line..So I made up the whole song...It horrified him majorly.

Layonara Server / Re: The Soul Mother - Still necessary?
« on: March 12, 2009, 09:31:21 pm »
Alright, I'm not sure if L or Dorg or Ed or whoever will be okay with me posting this. I made a sort - of promise that I wouldn't talk extensively about other servers while technically not playing here. But I think that because this is a favorable comparison, that the exception will be made

ANYWAY. I've played at Layonara for about 2.5 years. Some people may remember the Mad Mage Rhynn. Whatever. I've since left and played on 3-4 other servers, two of which extensively. These servers did not and do not support a permanent death system outside of rare Admin (Think Dorg, Ed, Orth and of course, Leanthar) approved conditioning.

It isn't a good thing, people.

People do whatever they want because they have no fear of death. There's no way to take out one's enemies (Good and evil are supported on these servers so of course there is player conflict) Because if you're evil you're just exposed as what you are , but can't do anything about the goodies that are thwarting you every step of the way because you can't perm them.

if you're good, then well, your evil arch nemesis just won't die, so they keep coming back.

Of all the things I've actually missed in leaving Layo, was the finite impermanacy of the characters here. They die. They fear death, and because they fear death, they treat situations differently then characters who can technically live forever.

Trust me guys, I never thought I'd say it either, but the Soul Mom is not a bad thing :)

Look at it this way, Lazer surgery is really advanced these days. It hardly leaves a mark

:P! That said, its a nicely done tattoo. I've been thinking about getting a Squishy on the small of my back.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Re-Introduction
« on: November 20, 2008, 08:50:33 pm »
I thought you guys deserved my reasoning for why, even after I said I'd be playing once more, that I'm still more or less just lurking the forums. The reason while completely my fault, is what is making it harder to reintegrate into the server.

The server I still play, and DM on, is a Forgotten realms based server that is basically PG-13 border lined on R. We're allowed to get away with more in terms of grotesque evil. Our Xeenites (Sharessans if you want to get technical) Are allowed to well..be what they are, more or less. Our Loviatarans (Goddess of pain) Are allowed to hurt , and torture in the most insane ways.

Now this doesn't say anything for one server's maturity versus another's, but I'm finding it very hard, especially with my only character being neutral evil, to get myself back into the habbit of censoring my words and actions, and the longer I put it off, the harder it'll become.

The character I play on my other server is a Sharran, (Think wanting everything destroyed P-tech style, only turned into a dark void, wanting everything to be lost, and believing that to be true peace alla Buddhism.). A spiteful, harmful, cruel woman [I know right, sort of like a neutral evil Rhynn!] and an enchantress [Sort of the opposite of Rhynn!], so not doing the blatantly evil thing will be hard.

So I want to say that I've not shafted (is that a bad word, I don't even know what it means but it sounds iffy) you guys, and am not ignoring you. I do enjoy this server, I just don't think that it suits me at this time, nor will it until I can get myself into the habbit of being a PG Role player once more.

Thanks for understanding.

Rumour Has It / Re: Last flash of the duellist
« on: November 16, 2008, 01:51:20 pm »
A woman garbed in veils of the desert , head to foot, finds once more the path to willows weep. She notices the newly grafted tomb of her old friend, last of this place, this world. And she cries. For many hours, she cries.

Bending down, she lays upon the constructed grave, a single coin that those who knew him may recognize.

With a wisp of the wind, she turns, and is gone once more.

Feel free to delete or dispute this, however I couldn't resist making a post for Rhynn's one last true friend on Layonara//.

Well Our guild was very good, but very small, so we couldn't really do much besides Kara and ZA. Which is why I like the 10 man versions of 25 mans idea in Wrath. Its a very good one.

Used to play on Earthen Ring. Didn't so much get greifed for being a girl, but basically got griefed up the wazoo for not playing regularly enough. I mean, hell though. You're going to keep running Karazhan every week and wonder why I'm bored and stop playing. Don't yell to me about loyalty. I dish out 15$ a month to have fun. if I'm not having fun, I quit. It's a game. I don't think about the people I'm (alledgedly) hurting by not being there. If they want to front my bill, they can, if not. They can stop making new accounts to bother me when I decide an alt is more fun

Less drama? For heaven's sake, woman, I have a B.A. in theatre!

You misunderstand =P You claimed one would "realize it's the same thing over and over again with few surprises and even less drama"

I'm claiming the amount of drama is proportional to the amount of dimwits a game has which is proportional to the game's overall population.

More people play with Wrath.
More people that start are . . . insert colorful word for not ice people.
Hence more drama.

Im done.

Bye.

>.> Less Drama Milty? Nah, Higher levels. More gear. More New stuff no one's seen. The one cool thing though is that they're making versions of all the big raids that 10 people can go through instead of 25, which makes it a lot easier for small tight knit guilds to get into a raid, something I felt was severely lacking in BC.

Anyway, Inty and Masq have fun with the game :), Ill personally be waiting though until they get the kinks out of the new expansion.
