Fixed Bugs / Characters not appearing on Server Status
« on: September 22, 2006, 11:47:33 am »
Perusing Status page I noticed that server status was not showing all of the logged in players. I waited for normal refresh and then used F5 to trigger refresh and neither character appeared.

The two characters not appearing had no special subrace or class. Both are reciently created characters but above level 4. The characters in question were Joshua Byrne (halfling monk) and Spark Armstrong (Human. fighter/wizard) (sorry to point fingers you two *winks*)

If you need any additional informaions let me know.

General Discussion / The PCGamer article Issue 163.
« on: February 29, 2016, 10:57:34 am »
Layonara Online Doesn't want you to play.  The administrators of this RPG world running on a chain of Neverwinter Nights servers don't want you to bring the real world into their fantasy.  They want your character.  Based on a decades old Multi-User Dungeon, and rebuilt in Neverwinter Nights, Layonara is a hardcore roleplaying world.  All characters must fit into the existing fiction, including the exploits of characters long since deceased.  To gain entry. you'll need to 'pitch' to the moderators, with a character biography and role.  Don't forget to include your characters's religion, birthday, and hobbies.  And relation to the Orcs and Undead that plague this world.  And Allies.  And Enemies.  You'll also need to commit a few evenings to reading the documentation.  All 20,000 words of it.  The upside is that by preventing the riff-raff from joining with their roflcopters and lollerskates, Layonara is now one of the most genuine and believable fantasy games around.  Quests are plot-driven and made all the more fun by the fact the people you're playing with are in-character and commited to the fiction.  The hoops are hard to jump through, but the reward at the end is all the sweeter for it. If you feel like losing yourself in a fully realised and alternate reality, and let's face it, we've all felt like that now and then, rush to www.layonaraonline.com with your very best character. NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Parchment folder
« on: July 27, 2006, 03:03:05 pm »
A week or so a go (little more) i was pulling out a paper from the parchement folder and accidentally clicked on Storold as he was passing by instead of my character. It passed the folder to Storold. As a result Lee lost all 67 or so pages she had stored inside. (*sobs*)

I'd like to humbly suggest flaggin the Parchment folders as no trade to prevent such an event from occuring again, if that's at all possible.

General Discussion / Finding GMs
« on: May 31, 2006, 10:25:49 pm »
not sure where to place this question so asking here: when invoved with random events around the world... what is the proper way to go about finding the GM associated with that event for such purposes as conducting in game research at the library or something similar? in some cases ideas related to the event do not come to us later, or we find out things that spark a connection or what have you. and in some cases (like being surprized right out of your chair by the event) it just doesn't occure to me to /dm hey can i yak at the dm that just did thus and so?. is this a case where we PM Leanthar?

anyway thanks ahead of time.

*written in her natural language of Elvish, translated in these journals for clarity*

I've seen days take strange twists and turns. As the humans of my hometown commented from time to time, 'Take them as they come and do what you can with 'em. The worst that can happen is you fail and have to start over.' I suppose there is truth to it, though not very eloquently put. Krandor is a nice quite town. Adventurers come and go there. My parents, and a few close family members live there. I grew up there as near as the wilds as I could be, yet still in civilization.
I have been called away however, and seemingly with Aeridin's blessing. I woke -in- a dream... A dragon stood before me. He called on me to serve a purpose, to work with the others he has called and end the war for freedom in the favor of our peoples. Wandering from our conversation I spoke with a few others whom validated my 'dreaming' and then I found myself before a statue. 'Make ready and enter into the trials,' he seemed to indicate.
And then, as if i simply woke, I found myself in a grassy plot, near a fountain and a lovely garden. Not far is a temple to Ilsare. I gathered what was left of my wits, and found the path that lead through town. I happened upon a man, who greeted me cheerily. Mister Nehestrev Llun, he is called. Gentleman in every sense of the word. He took time from his day and acquainted me with Hlint, showing me the town from his perspective and some of it's surrounding areas. Morakin's tower one place we visited, and the crypts of Hlint also. He indicated the crypts were unresting as they should have been. I find my first actions once arriving were to go there with Mister Llun and an acquaintance of his Mister Darsus, and put souls to rest there.
After a bit of exploration, and much conversation, I retired for some time to contemplate all that I have learned. I scribe now many new things I have worked through in my mind for my abilities. Drawing on the powers of the Cycle and Aeridin I have learned many new spells by listening to the ebb and flow.
*She scribes here some notes pertaining to elements to several spells. One spell she notes as armor of some sort she denotes as unworking, requiring of some component she has yet to discover.*

Development Journals and Discussion / Of Autumn and Karthy
« on: May 31, 2006, 10:30:06 am »
Browns and oranges... golden hues as well. reds... never reds, for the clash is horrid. Gentle leaves, trees tucking in for winter's breath. Autumn is the time of preparations, the time we ready for the end of the year, prepare for the new year ahead.

The time for Milara is ending. Rilara makes preparations for their new life with out the rule of this tyrant. In my other life I live on Mistone, I live on Rilara and some months I live on Dregar. In my other life, my heart roams these places and the tragedy of it's peoples haunts me. In my other life i can do not for the people of Karthy, so I create a new life, an new name, a new life, in celebration of a new year. A new life with out Milara in rule. Autumn will be her name, and she will shelter the children, protect them as much as she can from the travesty that is living where they do.

Life is hard in many ways in many places. There will always be those in need of help, for Utopian places cannot exist as long as beliefs vary and people vary. Children suffer through no fault of their own and have no avatar. They suffer as the animals of our land, with out a champion to speak for them. I'm no champion, but I will spread my branches as if a tree to shelter those I can reach.  As if a bird I will spread my wings and take flight to herald the needs of these forgotten souls. As if the wind, I will support and comfort in anonymous relation. For these children my heart is both guarded and open. It must remain balanced or I will loose myself and never leave. No help will I be then.

Autumn. She heralds the coming Winter, she whispers promises of Spring.

just thought there is few ideas for food crafting that might be good to add maybe in the near or distant future.

couple of ideas
porridges/oatmeals/cream de arroz etc
few more non alcoholic beverages, ie, tea or coffee as an example tho i am sure Layo has many potential concepts that could be used in place of that.
pudding (not choclate here, i mean like corn pudding, bread pudding, etc)

most if not all of the items for these recipies are in game already, so the there would be no need of additional 'nodes' to gather from. lord knows, i'd rather not have more 'nodes' to find. but(!) having more things i can do with my existing ingredients would be aweful dandy!

any thoughts?

Development Journals and Discussion / Letters and Tales
« on: March 23, 2006, 03:02:02 pm »
Dearest Johan and Sweet Bethany,

How are your children, your spouces, yourselves? I apologize for my absence, but i found myself quite litterally plucked up out of the real world and into the world that should not exist. I can not write the true events, because i do not trust these message carriers. Suffice it to say, I've met someone who ma always told us about, but we never believe. Well not logically anyway, in our hoping hearts maybe.

Know that i am safe, and while lonesome for my loved ones, i am happy.

All my Love to you,

~Lee

Thanks can please go rate us and give feedback. Good job everybody.

Hi all, This is a pretty cool site and they support and promote Layonara which makes them even better, heh. Seriously though, they have some great people there and a lot of good D&D resources across many spectrums.  I suggest you stop there and see what they have when you are searching for D&D material and information. http://www.dndadventure.com/index.html
