Trade and Market Hall / Re: Cailomel Goods and Wares (updated)

A burly dwarven woman barges in with another dwarf. She browses around and selects an iron greataxe and a lesser ring of bull's strength, conferring, in dwarven, with her companion. She offers 873 coins, 25% of the total price, and the other dwarf gives an assurance that she will pay the remainder upon her return from a journey to the north.

Brandar, the drunk from The Bull's Eye shuffles into the shop to make an inquiry on behalf of Alpoah. "Uhh, I know this lovely dwarven lass, she don't speak common too well, who's in need of a suit o' full plate armour. Kobolds and goblins been given her a hard time of it. Just copper, mind you. She has the coin. Oh, and err... *taps the side of his nose with his forefinger and lowers his tone* best make it fairly... roomy."

Belgar returns and selects a ring of Bull's II at 5500

He drops off a ring of Bull's I at 1312 which he leaves in the cabinet.

This sum and the value of his prior credit of 2545 totals 3857.

This leaves a sum to pay in true of 1643 which he deposits into the chest by the door.

New balance= 0

//If I've got any of this wrong, please PM me and I'll sort it.

Belgar borrows an amulet of cat's grace and Bracers of dex +2.

Belgar returns a few hours later placing both items back in the chest.

Belgar returns the following day and borrows the same two items.

Once again the dwarf returns and places both items back in the chest.

Again, Belgar borrows the same two items.

Belgar returns, soot-faced, and places the two items back in the chest then adds ten ingots of copper in thanks.

The busy dwarf bustles through the door straight to the loan chest and grabs the amulet of cat's grace and Bracers of dex +2. Additionally he tries on the nymph cloak +2 and smiles to himself.

A short while later, the dwarf returns with a dejected look on his face. He returns the three items and hurries out.

The following day he returns and again borrows the amulet of cat's grace, Bracers of dex +2, and the nymph cloak +2.

He returns, sometime later, and places the three items back in the chest, looking much happier this time.

Belgar returns a few days later and again borrows the amulet of cat's grace, Bracers of dex +2, and the nymph cloak +2.

The dwarf returns a while later and returns the 3 items.

A large dwarven woman walks in and rummages through the shields. She selects a copper tower shield and clanks it down roughly on the counter. She looks around for a moment before banging her fist on the counter. 'I BUY! I BUY SHIELD!' she bellows, pointing at the item. 'You sell?'

Belgar saunters in and peruses the jewelry with a greedy eye eventually selecting Miza's Gorget. He haggles a bit and pays the required 1728 coins of the total price of 6912 coins. 'I'll return after a trip t' Haven to pays the balance of 5184.'

//Let me know if I've got this wrong, HB.

Edit: Belgar stumbles back in, armour dented and beard bloodied. 'I were... err... tryin t' gets th' rest o' th' funds t'gether an' a bloody ogre magicker stopped me in me tracks. I'll need a bit t' recover and acquire th' funds t' pay me debt.' He staggers out and sits down heavily outside.

//Sorry gotta go hiking for the week and got killed getting the money together.

Finally, after some time has passed, Belgar returns with the required sum. He places it, together with his down payment for the complete sum of 6912.

The dwarf selects this ring from the case, and browses around the shop, also choosing an adamantium scimitar, and a lesser fire enchantment. He approaches the old man, raises an eybrow, and says in a questioning manner, "I understand there be a discount fer multiple purchases?" He doesn't wait for a reply, putting the discounted sum on the counter before bowing and departing swiftly.

Sometime later he returns, his gloves scorched and blackened. 'Err...' he stammers then sighs, 'I  has come t' realise that, havin applied the enchantment t' th' blade, it be now beyond me ability t' use.' He sighs again and continues. I'll hang on t' it though, fer it be a fine blade. In th' meantime, however, be thar someone in th' guild who can fashion me another adamantium scimitar *he raises a bushy eyebrow* fer a fair price?

Belgar gazes longingly into the 'Miscellaneous and Sundry Jewelry' cabinet. He wonders what the price is for the 'Exceptional Phenalope Set in a Platinum Ring' as it seems not to be labeled. For a moment, he wonders if anyone would notice if he helped himself to it but thinks better of it and looks around for the shopkeep. 'Ullo? Anyone about th' place?'

Roleplaying / Re: Kudos for great roleplay

Was really great to resolve a giant slinging disagreement with Tod, Xiao, and Nate tonight. Lots of funny dialogue. I got a bit lost at times the quips were coming so thick and fast. Wish Belgar had wagered something on the, "Can a sling kill a giant?" contention. Sorry I had to duck out in a rush. The cat would not be denied.

Thanks,
Eltalstro

Belgar strolls in, takes his muddy boots off, tries on a few pairs of new ones, walks out wearing a pair of Stone's Boots of Protection after depositing 3500, and leaves his dirty old ones sitting on the doorstep.

Belgar saunters in and looks over the iron weapons.

He selects an iron scimitar, swings it around a bit making fighting noises, laughs, leaves 1000 true, and departs.

A few days later he ambles in, pulls a suit of bronze full plate out of a chest, and leaves 1250 true and an Iron heater shield for which he deposits an additional 1500 true.

'Rats! What an odd lot they were. Takin me under Centre t' kill rats. Who goes around killin rats other than small dogs an' hungry street urchins?
'Where's that bloody buckle got to? Oh, by the hells! I jes had it here in front o' me. Under here? No. Of course! Under that curious bug shell; there it is! I'll throw that bloody shell out.
'And bugs! By the hells! they were worse than the rats. Anyone'd think I were aimin t' make a pest queller out o' meself at this rate.
'Right, thread this leather through 'ere like so and... Oh bugger! Too short. I'll need t' get another length.
'Bugs and rats and then bloody ghouls and ghosts and walkin skeletons! If this is what provin me worth involves, I'm not sure it's worth it. Not that I didn't give em a good go, mind you! Heheheh...
'Right this time... Thread the leather through here and then... tie it through here... pull it tight... There, that should do. 'Hmmm, now to sharpen that new blade.
'O' course they weren't much help. Jes stood around mostly, yellin encouragement and watchin me get assaulted on all sides by vermin and bloody horrors from beyond the grave! They were nice fellas though. Didn't even want no loot. Never met nobody fool enough t' give away their share o' the loot before. Heheheh! Ceptin maybe Sirel. They musta realised I did all the heavy liftin. Now, what were their names? There was the knife obsessed one. He was Johnny. And the one with the outlandish, glowing eyes, "Jeeow" somethinorather I think. And the other fella with the wolf on his head. "Fuh", I think he was. What an odd lot. Friendly fellas though.
'Now, where's that blade got to?'

Introduce Yourself / And Again!

Hail and well met!

My laptop died and with it my time in Layonara. Finally got a new laptop and have started playing NWN again. I've mostly been playing Diamond Edition but have purchased EE and I'd like to get back into Layonara too. There is a chance that my PC may have owed a coin or two here or there. My apologies and if you still have the IOU lying around I'll be happy to pay it. Now to figure out how to get back in. Also, how many years would a dwarf have aged in 5 RL years?

Kind Regards,
Eltalstro

Development Journals and Discussion / The Way of the Hammer
« on: September 01, 2015, 07:24:27 am »
Well I'll take the bad with the good. During my travels from the mountains I've been robbed, nearly mauled to death by cougars and savaged by dog sized rats. The robbers got nearly everything while I was snoozing; My holy symbol of Dorand, my crafting certificate, my armour and my hammer. Just outside of Center I was set upon by viscious cougars with nought to defend myself but some flimsy leather armour and a measley mace. I would have met my death if not for a timely rescue by a wee halfling named Quenton. Before I could properly thank him he tossed me some healing potions and was off like a shot.Subsequnetly, I spent time looking for work in Center and was hired to do some extermination work at the craft hall. Truly this was a task sent by Dorand himself. How else can it be explained? And it was no mean feat. These rats were like ravenous wolves. My good fortune held however and a presumptuous halfling named Thorn aided me for three quarters of the reward value. I'm quite certain his parents named him after getting to know him for at least a year. But the reward for me was in seeing that the crafting hall was free from pestilence. In addition to the rats there were beetles the size of your hand and some unnamable, bloated queen insect. These were dispatched without difficulty but from the rats I contracted a sickness lasting several days and lay in convalescence in the bushes on the edge of town. The Lord Forge saw fit to add a further trial upon my recovery. While chatting with yet another halfling (there seem to be a fair few in this part of the land) named Kenzie,  a human woman named Mary proposed that, for a fee, we might help her to gather ingredients for her craft. I knew this to be a test of my resolve to further the pursuit of crafting in our world. This fine woman needed cooking ingredients that required treking half way around Mistone. It seems awfully dangerous to confront lizard men, trolls and enraged, moving trees in order to gather a few cooking ingredients but who am I to question the will of Dorand? It happened that the wee halfling was more than she seemed and although I had to protecct her by throwing myself in the way of rampaging trolls several times, she proved a worthy companion. I've replaced some of my personal effects now but I must purchase a set of armour and a crafting certificate. Most importantly, I need to locate a holy symbol of Dorand.
