General Discussion / Re: I'm back

Quote from: Pseudonym
Welcome back.

 Just a quick OOC warning, Clarissa is going to be devastated when she learns her heart's secret desire has permed.

 She was already informed of the unfortunate demise of Arkolio.  She was sad that she would not have his irritating company on any more adventures but heartened to hear that he had become generous to the needy.  She shed a secret tear that no one saw and said a prayer for his spirit.

Thanks everyone.  I think Rose will be appearing frequently as well.  I am not sure about Kalin and Peanut but you might even see them from time to time.

Layonara Server / Re: Paladin Horse in The Hempostead field.

This duplication happens if you log off with the horse summoned but not ridden (like if you rest and log off without dismissing the horse)  It will take a server reset to make it go away or a GM to destroy it.  Just make sure to dismiss the horse before you log off.  Hope that helps.  Here is a link to more information on the warhorse.

I only made Clarissa a girl because the male players out there fall all over themselves to give stuff to the female characters. ;)  That and because at the time I was trying to be anonymous and I thought it would be a better disguise.  No reason for anyone to feel weird or anything.  She was my first and last female character (probably :))  I had a lot of fun trying to keep Arkolio at bay.

Poetic License / Re: Elitist
« on: April 27, 2008, 09:24:43 pm »
I thought it was interesting how the same observations have been made about the world for ages. Of course the conclusion of the author of Ecclesiastes is that the equalizer that makes things even in the end comes in the afterlife.

 "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:

 Fear God and keep His commandments,
 For this is man's all.
For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil."

 I think this reflects a basic human desire to make sense of things and an understanding that if this life is all there is then things can seem very pessimistic.

Some similar old poetry from ancient times:

 Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.
What profit has a man from all his labor
In which he toils under the sun?
One generation passes away, and another generation comes;
But the earth abides forever.
The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,
And hastens to the place where it arose.
The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.
All the rivers run into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full;
To the place from which the rivers come,
There they return again.
All things are full of labor;
Man cannot express it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor the ear filled with hearing.
 That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
Is there anything of which it may be said,
See, this is new?
It has already been in ancient times before us.
There is no remembrance of former things,
Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come
By those who will come after.

*privately to Krysthalien and Abi*  I think you should use our boat that we have chartered out of Hempstead if you need a secure and trustworthy crew.

Yeah, I can see how to find everything that I used to but the Spells link and the PCs link were nice shortcuts for me.  No worries though.  Thanks.

I guess I am still missing something.  I see the query now but the PCs, Spells, and other stuff is still in my blind spot.  The Welcome to text looks like this for me.

 Welcome, to LORE Skywatcher (Settings, My Page, Friends, Logout)

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Dusty Old Tome/Kingdom of Iliarial

DMOE,

       If's can be thrown out all day long.  I am just trying to understand the intention of the team.  I am trying to figure out why this is such a big deal when it was obviously just something that you knew and I didn't.  I chose to get books in advance so the event wouldn't take an extra couple of hours since it was already going to take a long time as it was.  You act like there was some malicious intent to circumvent the rules and now we need to be put on report for violating the spirit of the server.  That's just not the case at all here so please just let the team state what the intent is and we can go from there.  Thanks.

So then is the intent to be that there is a limit on characters going to the kingdom?  Is this now a 20+ only area?  Are there other areas that are like that?

This is the first time I have heard of a level limit on getting the book or a level limit on this quest.  When sOulz mentioned previously that the level was 17+ to get the book I thought that moot since you had to be 17+ to go to northern Belinara anyway.  If the intent is to restrict the level requirement for going to the kingdom of Iliarial then we should have an additional limit like we do for Dregar and Belinara so this can be clear.  There is nothing to indicate to someone who is already above the level limit that there is any reason to not get extra copies of the book for others if each individual needs a copy to go to the kingdom.

 Well we did our best and learned some lessons.  The king will have to wait for another day for us to avenge him.

This is an expedition to northern Belinara so minimum level will be 17.

That dragon spirit or whatever it was hasn't heard the last of us.  I think we may need to revisit it with a another cleric or two and a few more fighter types.  Well done to everyone.  Great fun.  And thank you Chongo for creating such interesting and new places to explore.
