Fixed Bugs / Re: Weird & Mind Immune Monsters« on: January 17, 2019, 11:33:51 pm »
TL;DR;
Fire Giants (should not be) / (are not) immune to mind spells anywhere in the world but layonara (if they are immune to them here) Fire Giants in the OC are not immune to mind spells They are immune to fire, but vulnerable to cold... they have a will save of 5... no immunity to mind spells, not on their skin, their weapon, or their armor.... not granted by a script, special ability, feat, or item. there is one fire giant blueprint in the OC that has a will save of 8. To see this you can open any of the OC modules by copying them from the nwm directory to the modules directory of your NWN install... rename all of them to have the extension .mod and then you can open them in the toolset and edit/look as much as your heart desires... Chapter 1 does not have any fire giants in the custom pallete or the module Chapter 1E does not have any fire giants in the custom pallete (didn't search the module) Chapter 2 does not have any fire giants in the custom pallete (didn't search the module) Chapter 2E does not have any fire giants in the custom pallete (didn't search the module) Chapter 3 has fire giants in the custom pallete Chapter 4 does not have any fire giants in the custom pallete (didn't search the module) If fire giants are immune to mind spells on layo, it's the only place in the world they are immune to them https://dnd-wiki.org/wiki/Fire_Giant_(3.5e_Monster) https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Fire_Giant http://forum.nwnights.ru/uploads/rulebooks/Core_Books/Monster_Manual.pdf you can search the module and look for a special case if you want using edit -> find instance and look for the tags, or the blueprint resref (required to place an instance in the module) of the creature you're looking for. 22
Development Journals and Discussion / The Diary of Deldhin'el Lumorneth Amarth'anel« on: January 05, 2019, 09:57:28 pm »
Character Name: Deldhin'el Lumorneth Amarth'anel
Silent Horror (del+dîn) Tree Shade (lum+orn) Fate/Doom (amarth) Del Character Age: 112 Character Class: Druid Character Race: Elf Character Sub-Race: Wild Elf Character Gender: Female Character Alignment: TN Deity Associated With: Kithairien and Katia Cleric Domain: N / A Character Birthplace: Near The Whitehorn Character Biography: Del grew up travelling with her parents across Mistone. They never stayed in one place for too long, and they had few friends because of this. They travelled alone most of the time, however the seven families they knew never travelled too far apart. Together the families, known as the travelling eight, kept watch over each other from a distance, usually not far out of ear shot of the bird calls they knew how to mimic. Each family chose a different call and while on the move you could hear each distinguished tune being called out. The families never left much behind, rarely a foot print they didn't realize they'd left. None of them owned much as far as materials, however they all possessed a grand number of skills. Del's mother was often called a witch, though she wasn't a witch and was often chased away from towns and villages when they'd go for the few supplies they couldn't make themselves. Del's mother had been caught changing forms on two separate occasions, and people thought she was dangerous. Del's mother was a druid and usually only changed forms for hunting or protection. Del's father was a hunter, and they had several trained hunting animals they kept close by. When Del was born she was given her name because of the things that had started happening around her birthday. That day is when the travelling eight became the travelling seven. All the camps were set up and the fires lighted. The meals for the day were being cooked and all of the gear had been properly hidden. Most travellers wouldn't be able to find their camps while passing by, but tonight was a different night. The kettle warmed the water and the midwife gathered the cotton and silk cloths. Del was born. They all laid down to get some rest. Sounds of pounding, and thumping on the ground filled the air, every noise followed by pulses felt in the ground. Animal noises filled the air as the travelling eight called to each other for aid. Alas it was too late, one of the families disappeared into the forest never to be seen again. They all gathered their supplies put out the fires and moved along as fast as they could. What made such quick work of the family? Was it the outcasts? A large bear? Giants? Nobody knew, all they knew was run! Years went by. Del is now 10. Two families have disappeared now, in the same manner. Is someone following the families? Still unable to catch the persons or beings responsible the families keep moving. They watch every shadow wondering if it will come for them next. When will the silent horror come from the shade of the trees and claim another. The travelling six continue on. Del has been learning her skills from her mother and father, and has taking a liking to bears. She does not know why, but they intrigue her immensely. Fascinated by them she often hides in the forest not far off watching them sharpen their claws, and catch fish with their paws. She watches them climb trees and run faster than they look capable. She watches them in their slumber while they hibernate the winter days away. She's also found fascination with mixing herbs and various minerals, and growing new plants. Sometimes she swears she can see the plant actually moving as it grows. Years go by. Del is now an adult, there aren't many of the travelling eight left, and Del has been going over the events that happened and studying the ground behind them, despite her parents warnings, every time they stop determined to figure out what has been happening. To no end. Del decides to go off away from her family and search farther in the world for the possibility of an answer. Extra Credit: Del is quite muscular for a female, and stands 5'1" tall, slender and trim from constant travel. She is tan, with black hair and green eyes. She bears her families tatoos. She is quite fond of bears, deer, snakes, and wolves. She can sometimes be found tracking and silently following them around. She uses shadows often to hide, but not before throwing a small glowing stone that she carries with her at all times, to check them for danger first. Del doesn't take sides easy, and is not quick to judge. She tries to find the balance of things but does so very carefully and with a great deal of observation and thinking first, never jumping to conclusions too fast. She's quiet until you get to know her, as she's probably watching you thoroughly. 23
General Discussion / Re: F keys not working in Wine« on: January 05, 2019, 02:28:22 am »
Function keys do not work
If your F<num> keys do not work, this is probably because the kernel driver for the keyboard has defaulted to using the media keys and requiring you to use the Fn key to get to the F<num> keys. To change the behavior temporarily, append 2 to /sys/module/hid_apple/parameters/fnmode. # echo 2 > /sys/module/hid_apple/parameters/fnmode To make the change permanent, set the hid_apple fnmode option to 2: /etc/modprobe.d/hid_apple.conf options hid_apple fnmode=2 To apply the change to your initial ramdisk, in your mkinitcpio configuration (usually /etc/mkinitcpio.conf), make sure you either have modconf included in the HOOKS variable or /etc/modprobe.d/hid_apple.conf in the FILES variable. You would then need to regenerate the initramfs. if you need more help I can help you... I compile my own kernels and everything else in linux myself. I don't personally run Arch as a main distro, I run Gentoo, but they are related and I do get a lot of help for my own problems from Arch wikis. I have run nearly every distribution of linux. What distribution are you running on that mac? Ubuntu? Yellow Dog? Debian? (can't remember all the others that support mac (those may be old ppc versions of mac and not the new intel)) source : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Apple_Keyboard 24
General Discussion / Re: Help with PRCs« on: January 05, 2019, 02:23:31 am »
That is what I was after.
Now my question is "What is an updated biography"? Searching in that post I can't find any definition of it. Is this the same as a 2 week CDT? I am not aware of any active shifters, only active druids on the server. What are the steps I should take to be qualified to submit a request to take a CDQ and shifter levels? 25
General Discussion / Help with PRCs« on: January 02, 2019, 04:17:03 pm »
I'm looking for the information on PRCs, I've been to archive.layonara.com and old.layonara.com... the search feature doesn't seem to work and I can't find any information on what i'd need to do to take shifter levels.
Any help would be great. Warrior. 26

A lot of that is outdated, there have been further developments and new things, eg toolset works again in Linux with Wine. I meant to update later, but there was still a weekly dev patch at the time so I couldn't keep up What problems are people having on modern systems? We've got 1.69 running on modern systems here, core i7, nvidia 1070 ti and gtx, windows 10... haven't had any issues... I keep hearing about issues, but i've never seen them... can you explain? 28

Fixed Bugs / It doesn't matter what« on: December 03, 2015, 10:20:44 am »It doesn't matter what operating system you are running as the user (the client) the problem is in the linux server. How to reproduce the bug? Easy... do a whirlwind attack, and just as you hit the ground count to 1, and do another attack... repeated attacks will lock your action queue. I've helped trouble shoot this issue on other linux run servers. Once locked the only way to unlock your queue is to log out and log back in. You will not be able to do anything (heal, attack, bandage, etc) if your action queue gets locked. There are a few methods for fixing this issue but most aren't pretty. The one used most often just clears your action queue and if you're like me (probably because I know about the bug) it doesn't matter where you play you requeue your attacks after whirlwind attack... this is how i found the bug here. The method I described above clears your action queue and leaves you flat footed if you don't re-attack or make another action... this is fine by me as I, by habbit requeue after whirlwind attack (problem being i usually queue up another whirlwind attack, which locks up the queue). http://nwnx.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1498&highlight=whirlwind+attack 33
Fixed Bugs / Now that the server runs on« on: September 10, 2015, 11:51:26 am »Now that the server runs on linux whirlwind attack is bugged. There is no trick to it. Every NPC and player character and monster that uses whirlwind attack is subject to this bug. In order to fix this bug you must call ClearAllActions(TRUE); in the script related to whirlwind attack, after the attack finishes... Yes this leads to the player and NPC becoming temporarily flat footed, there aren't many other workarounds that will do the job, that's the best one can do. I just lost my Ox and everything on the ox because of this bug. 34

Layonara Server / you don't need a server in a« on: December 28, 2013, 02:16:18 am »you don't need a server in a data center to run this game, there are a ton of servers out there still running for free with many players playing on them and they are run from people's homes.. on PC computers... you don't need server hardware to run this stuff... a standard pentium 4, 2.4 ghz with hyperthreading will run a database capeable of supporting 64 players, a pentium D dual core processor with 2 gigs of ram will run the server several times over... the minimum requirements are simply a pentium 3 800 mhz system... that will support 4 players easily... you could run both things on your core i7 processor with the servers on one core each and the database on another without problems. You can get a "business" class DSL or Cable line installed at your home for 80 dollars a month, and i'm sure the speeds are better than 3M/3M now which was the old speed of your servers with dual burstable t1s. As for an IRC server, that's not even necessary... it's a bit overboard since you can start your own support channel for free on many of the IRC servers run around the globe, such as irc.freenode.net... you could easily set up and run a free channel there for Layonara. I'm just offering suggestions, sometimes worth more than donations. 36
