//The bio:

Character: Arthor Slowstone
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Classes: Fighter/Duelist
Race: Human
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: None

Biography:

Arthor Slowstone is entirely misnamed. He has a quick sword, quick feet, and an equally quick tongue. There is nothing slow or stony about him.

Born on a small farm, Arthor studied the art of swordplay from a very young age, he remembers starting at age six or seven. Back then he had a weighted rope tied to a tree, that he practiced parrying and attacking on with a wooden sword, as his parents worried about there boy swinging a real sword. He was obsessed with his wooden sword, though.

Starting at a young age has lead Arthor to avoiding large, heavy weapons. When he was young, he couldn't lift a heavy sword, and as he grew, he continued what he was good at. His parents slowly grew to understand their son's love of the sword, though.

One day, one of Arthor's friends found a sword, hidden in the bushes In his farm. It was a basic rapier, made of copper. His friend had no interest in swords, and he gave it to Arthor. Arthor had no idea of were the sword came from, but he decided to make the best of it and he started practicing with it. He quickly demolished his rope dummy, and had to fashion a wooden man to practice on. He picked up on the strikes and the blocks in his spare time, quickly advancing in skill.

Arthor had a desire to leave his wooden dummies behind, though. He began to design odd dummies with swinging arms that used the force he applied, to increase his mobility. Once or twice he was whacked a good one, but his love of the blade was greater than his pain. He learned from his mistakes, and decided that he just wouldn't get hit if it was going to hurt.

At age twelve, Arthor's blade was flying faster than ever. His sword was his favorite thing in the world. Arthor, even if it was a three-minuet break, would pick up the sword and practice. The weapon was natural to him, he felt as if it was a extension of his arm. His parents were proud, but at the same time they worried he would leave. He was young, still, but growing. His parent's knew the time would come, but they could wait.

Age fourteen was only allowing more swordplay skill. Arthor quickly began wandering from home, out into the wilderness. He wouldn't go far, but his parents worried about Arthor. Arthor was coming home battered, though. He had been having swordplay practice with a few of the other local teen-agers who found the swords interesting. They dueled with wooden swords, as to not hurt each other so much as to draw blood. They went easy at first, gradually working up until it was almost dangerous. Although Arthor fought with a style not everyone was familiar with, they shared styles until they came up with a sword-dueling style they called 'Wilderness Dueling', as they had taught each other in the wild. It consisted of mainly basic thrusts, but with a rare slash or leap.

At age nineteen, a friend of Arthor said he had heard of a reason to go (he had told him of his desire to leave). Someone had told his friend of a rat issue in Hempstead, and, his friend thought, if he could prove to his parents that he could be doing good in the world, they may let him go!

Arthor immediately told his parents that he planned to go investigate the issue in the sewers of Hempstead (their farm has in the Hempstead feilds). His parents were reluctant, and didn't want him to go, but he insisted. Finally, his parents agreed to let him go into the sewers. They said that, If he succeeded, they would let him go. If he failed, he wouldn't be alowed to try again. He took a month of hard training, and he waited, to let his arms build up strength.

When the time finally came, Arthor was ready. He was off, him and his sword at the ready.

Physical Description: Arthor is lean, wearing tight clothes to keep his sword arm free. He almost always has his sword in hand, unless he is told to put it away, but he is still quite reluctant. He has messy dark-brown hair. He's taller, around six foot seven. A comforting smile often spreads across his face.

Personality: Arthor is good-natured, and enjoys a good laugh. He treats his blade as if it were alive, which, as far as he's concerned, it is.

Development Journals and Discussion / The Two Foot Tall Toranite
« on: May 16, 2010, 04:01:42 pm »
Character: Amarllisya Smallstride
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Class: Monk
Race: Brownie
Alignment: Lawful Good
Deity: Toran

Biography:

Amarllisya never knew her parents, as there village was attacked when she was at an early age. It had been a normal day in her village until then. Amarllisya had been playing in a hollow tree stump when it happened.

Suddenly, a loud war cry was heard, and over twenty trolls burst into the clearing. The trolls began ripping up anything they saw, they ripped doors off there hinges, they kicked walls down, they smashed chairs together, ect. But luckily for Ama, they left the tree stump alone. The brownies put up a fight, but it was no contest. The village was destroyed. Lisya ran off to get away from the trolls, which even her tiny young mind understood, were savage beasts.

Lisya ran. when she finally stopped, out of breath, she heard a snapping sound. Looking around, she saw nothing. Trolls she thought. Then a man in blue and gold armor walked out from in between two bushes. After some talking, Ama agreed to travel around his patrol spot.

As Lisya grew older, her dreams began to bring that awful day back into her mind. She wanted desperately to get rid of that band of trolls, but her dreams reminded her of how the trolls had made such quick work of the brownie villagers. Than she remembered something she had heard on her travels: Fight fire with fire. She wondered if, by fighting with her feet and fists, could she kill trolls, who fought with there feet and fists. But she thought better of it. She knew that trolls possessed excessive strength. But that thought kept nagging in the back of her mind.

One day she fell behind the knight. She began running around, calling him. But she had fallen too far behind. Ama was hungry. Then she remembered some things that the knight had shown her. She started a small fire and went looking for food. After finding some, Lisya cooked it over her little fire. And after eating it, She wandered off.

As she grew up she frequently wandered around. Soon she was wandering along the road to Fort Last. Little did she know there was mercenaries along the road. She walked down a hill and was ambushed! She had been totally unarmed! All she could do was try to duck and dodge and hit them with her feet and fists. But she was losing the fight. A halfling hit her in the head with the hilt of his dagger, and she crumpled, unconscious.

When she awoke, she was bound and gagged, and was bent at an odd angle in a tent. The mercenary camp she thought. She tried to wriggle out of the bonds, but they were much to tight. She sighed. She wriggled some more. She felt the ropes digging into her skin. She stopped wriggling as she nearly cried out in pain.

But her hopes rose when she heard battle sounds outside. She forgot all pain and tried desperately to wriggle free. Blood drops formed on her arms and legs, but she felt the bonds loosen just enough. She finally slipped the bonds off her hands and untied her leg bonds. She burst outside, but the lose of blood made her slowly slip into unconsciousness. The last thing she remembered seeing the fallen bodies of mercenaries everywhere.

She regained consciousness in a tiny bed in some sort of temple. She could not identify the temple, though. She glanced at her arms and saw awful gashes, but they looked a lot better than right after she had wriggled free. She had never seen a wound heal so fast. She wondered if the wounds hade been healed with magic. Little did she know she was in the Toranite temple.

Lisya continued to grow in the Toranite temple, becoming more and more attached to the Toranite faith. She wanted to help the knights, as she soon found out hat a group of them had saved her. One day, she met a Toranite monk who saw her practicing unarmed combat so that if she were to be ambushed again, she could defend herself. The monk decided to help her learn and he became her tutor. She would watch him do a basic drill, and then she would mirror his movements.

The monk also taught her how to channel the energy of Toran through worship and prayers. They began spending an hour every day together in a quiet room, meditating. Then they would go practice. Lisya found that she was much more effective after she meditated than before.

She realized that she was almost their kind. She felt as if she owed the Toranites a favor. She trained harder than ever to train and prepare herself.

She continued training with her hands, dodging blows jumping from side to side punching and kicking her foes. She tried to bring the energy of Toran into herself as she punched and kicked at the combat dummies. It took time, but soon, Lisya was doing this without much effort. The monk noticed this and asked her if she wanted to go out into the real world. She nodded vigorously.

The knights saw that she was ready to go on a mission and she was allowed to go on a patrol with the knights. The knights had heard of an outbreak of kobolds in the Port Hempstead fields. She proved her worth there by leaping from behind a tree and kicking a kolbolt in the spine right before he sliced a knight who had been knocked down during the fighting.

Her monkhood was assured then.

She continued to wander the temple, every once in a while getting assigned to a mission. One time, she went to the vehl crypts once, and she and a few others were assigned to keep watch on the crypt. Amaryllisya gained the nickname (which the others began using as her last name, and the name stuck) Smallstride. It came from when they were going to get some food and Lisya fell about twenty feet back. So everyone, after making sure she was ok with it, started calling her Lisya Smallstride, because Lisya had been her nickname because Amaryllisya was too much of a mouthful for some people.

She stayed in Vehl for three months, right up until she was age twenty. Then she was allowed to leave. She hoped to find adventure in alone in the 'big' world. But she doesn't know what she's geting herself into...

Physical description: She wears loose fitting clothes to allow her the most freedom of movement. These clothes are in Torans colors of blue and gold. She is slim, about 1.8 feet tall. She has dark brown hair with brilliant blue eyes. Her eyes are always alert. If you look at her arms and legs, they are still scared from her struggle in the mercenary camp.

Personality:She always stands up to a challenge. She is energetic, but can be serious when someone is in danger. She always thinks before she does anything; the mercenary capture taught her a lesson. She is also very scared of all mercenaries. She loves exploring but rarely leaves paths alone. She is very careful. She always meditates before going into a crypt or fighting an enemy of Toranite keep the evil forces at bay.

In the ability stats for brownie:

+4 Dexterity, -4 Strength, -2 Constitution (ESA +2 DEX, -2 STR, -2 CON)

I don't know what the second stat line is. Are they already in the first set, or are they applied after you log in with the brownie?

//the biography, just for the record//

Character: Aust Moonbrook
Age: 110
Gender: Male
Class: Wizard
Race: Elf
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Biography:

Aust Moonbrook was born in Mariner's Hold. He always enjoyed watching the ships sail in and out of the docks. He loved the chaos of the docks and the interesting sailors shouting to each other. Aust wanted to sail when he grew up. He thought of the adventures he might have with the wild and rowdy sailors. But he was not ready yet. Being 40, he was to young. He had to settle with wishing and hopping.

Aust's other dream was wizardry. When he was not watching the boats, he was reading poems and stories of great deeds done by great spell casters and wanted to be just like them. He read of the vampires destroyed by great heros and wanted to have an adventure of his own. But his main hope was to be a sailor.

One day Aust saw something that destroyed his highest hope. A wave of tsunamis had destroyed several towns and ports. Aust got scared and changed his mind about being a sailor right away. He then focused on wizardry. He wandered to Spellgaurd to learn the spells of a wizard. He spent from age 70 to 80 there. He learned the basic spells, such as acid splash and burning hands, then left to seek a place to practice.

At age 90, he saw a small cave he thought he could practice in without harm. The tunnel was long, he thought that was a good thing. But when he rounded the bend, a goblin ran at him brandishing a large tree branch. Aust had no choice but to defend himself. He cast Burning Hands(not knowing the full potential of the spell), and, by accident, killed everything in the cave but a goblin toddler. He felt sorry for the goblin, because Aust knew the little goblin was alone now. Aust drug the goblin up the cave tunnel (gaining a bite scar on his arm) and took the goblin to his little shack, not a great one, but a nice one. Aust raised the goblin, not considering it might cause trouble.

Aust had to make many, many, many practice dummies for the goblin (the gobblin wrecked them very quickly). Aust named the goblin Green after a while because neither one of them knew the goblin's real name. Aust taught Green things a man needs to survive, and Aust taught Green not to lop heads of randomly (actually, it's more like not to lop kneecaps off randomly). Aust read the stories that Aust read when he was only in his thirties and forties to Green. Aust also taught Green elfish so that Aust could still talk in his favorite language while speaking to Green. Aust knew that adventure, even if not sailing, was not far around the corner.

Physical Appearance: Aust stands about 5'4'', wearing Sea blue robes to remind himself of his sailing dream. And if you ever see his right forearm, it has a goblin toddler sized bite scar there

Development Journals and Discussion / Alton Tealeaf

Character: Alton Tealeaf
Age: 40
Gender: Male
Classes: Rogue/Ranger
Race: Halfling
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Deity: Deliar

Biography:

The red haired halfling Alton Tealeaf didn't stand out much in a crowd. Standing about 3’2”, he was your typical-looking Halfling. He was taught the basics of archery, The one thing that made Alton stand out is his personality. He is bold and had a big mouth at times. He was on the good, but made a lot of mayhem from the age of 14.

Alton was born in Port Hempstead and never ventured far outside the walls. Or at least his mother said no. Once, he went out by the fields but got chased back by some kolbolds. They chased him to the gates and than pinned him to the ground. One was about to stab him. Alton closed his eyes. But lucky Alton, Jacob the guard killed the kolbolds. "If it wasn't for Jacob," he later said to a friend, "I probably wouldn't be standing here now." He felt that The kolbolds had ruined his chance to explore (making them his favored enemy). Alton never told his parents about the incident.

He began to draw pictures at 18. They were all of the outside world. This drove both his parents insane.

One day he discovered some treasure at the bottom of the pond and pulled it up. It consisted of gold and jewels. He felt that Deliar had lead him to the treasure, Deliar governing wealth. Than, that same day, while looking for some for his parents, he nearly slipped in. He slipped, but somehow he grasped a branch just in time, his feet inches from the water. He felt that deliar had helped him, Deliar also governing luck.

At 30 Alton knew he had to go. He was unskilled, though. Some elves overheard him muttering about this problem. They made a deal. Alton would scout out the goblin cave and the elves would teach him archery and how to pick locks and disarm traps, etc (one of them was a rogue) so he could go.

The elves were Patient, but it took a long time to get used to a bow, so long that he barely had time to take sword training, counting the fact that he was also learning to use stealth. But he took the time he had training with them. The rogue elf taught Alton how to duel with two swords, but it was not very thorough training due to the small amount of time they had. They practiced by smacking tree stumps and such. With bows they would shoot arrows at a shield propped against a tree. With bows they would also fish.

Than, at the age of 39, as a final test, the elves sent him out to Stormcreast Crossroads for three months. During that time, Alton grew to become friends with nature. he even met a wolf he named Stan. He hunted every so often, but always took what he could. He explored and got to know the land so well, he could go almost anywhere without getting lost. He began showing lost travelers how to get through Stormcreast Crossroads(in Deliar's respect). He felt like one with the wilderness instead of one using the wilderness and wanted to protect it. At the end of the three months, he didn't want to leave. But he had to. He's always wanted to go back and see Stan again. Now, at age 40, he is ready to go!

Physical Description:
About 3 foot 2 inches, with red hair. He wears a brown cloak with brown and green leather armor. He is slim, with a bow in his hand at almost all times. He is not muscular but instead is quit weak. Alton is often found skipping along in front of his party, but lets the others go ahead in battle.

Personality:
Alton is energetic and can have a big mouth. He is a very bold halfling. He will protect his friends at all costs but is suspicious of those whom he doesn't know. His goal is to get though the goblin's cave. He hopes Deliar will guide him through his life. He now thinks of elves in general and those two in specific to be extremely helpful people. He speaks more common than elven but speaks in Halfling tongue most of all. Alton still doesn't know all the elven words yet and will frequently ask a elf to say somthing in elfish so he can learn.

Urick Stonebreaker the dwarf was 20 when his parents discovered a human baby girl outside on there front doorstep and named her Samarra Stonebreaker. It worked out just fine until they took a hike on his 26 birthday. There, giants attacked them and killed Urick's parents. Luckily,Vorxian monks heard them and killed the giants. they took Urick and Samarra to the temple and questioned them about what they were planing to do now. Urick and Samarra choose to stay with the monks for food and safety.

When Urick was 28 when he had a dream of him becoming a great dwarfish warrior and wiping the giants out. This determined him more than ever to kill the giants. He began worshiping Vorax even more.

After he turned 31, he began handling battle axes. He continued to practice up through adulthood, despite the fact that he cut off his right pinky finger.

At the age of 38, He was almost ready to leave, with three main goals. One, wiping out the giants. Two, to protect Samarra from the giants. And three, destroying the living dead, because Vorax dislikes them.

Overall, Urick will never be able to forgive the giants, they have cost him too much.
